Box 216 Landisville, PA Voic Fax: As we embark on the spring tryout season and your child takes part in the tryout process, I would like to share some thoughts with you about the Penn Legacy Soccer Club; who we are and what we do. After tryouts, as you and your child consider their playing options, you can make your decision having the comfort in knowing Penn Legacy is a great place for your child to grow and develop not only as a soccer player, but as a young person as well. The Club has over 1,500 youth soccer players ranging in age from U4-U19 taking part in our programs; the youngest play in the Penn Legacy Futures program (previously known as Penn Legacy Academy) while the older youth have options to play in the Penn Legacy Rec or Penn Legacy Travel programs. We offer an extraordinary travel program run by an experienced staff of professionally licensed Directors and Coaches who oversee the development of our travel players. Seamus Donnelly, Director of Coaching and Player Development, has been with the Club for 11 years and has some of the highest coaching credentials that any soccer professional can attain. He is supported by Gary Rossi Ross who is the Technical Director of the U9 and U10 travel program, and also serves as Director of the Penn Legacy Futures program. Rossi is an NSCAA Master Licensed Coach, holds his USSF A license, and has developed a reputation of excellence through his work with younger players over the years. In addition, the travel program is supported by Age Group Directors. Two of the most respected soccer professionals in this area include Dan Hogan for the U11-U15 age groups, and Mike Logan for the U16-U19 age groups. Mike also oversees the Club s College Connector Program for our older age players to take them on a step-by-step path to collegiate play. Seamus has worked hard to develop a training curriculum where the focus is on player development. He has built a program that offers many great learning experiences at all levels of our travel program. Recently, Seamus traveled to Belgium and Holland as part of a US Soccer training program, where he spent time learning from some of the best youth Clubs in the world. He is excited to bring this learning back to Penn Legacy. He also works closely with the Philadelphia Union coaching staff to bring education and training to our Penn Legacy coaching staff, using available Union resources to facilitate back to our coaches. The following pages contain more information about our programs, detailing what is included in the registration fees, all the additional training that is offered throughout the year, as well as a more detailed description about the Club s developmental model known as The Penn Legacy Way. As you and your child decide what the best fit for their soccer experience is, we hope you strongly consider Penn Legacy and everything we have to offer. 2 Penn Legacy Program Information U9-U12 Golden Phase The Penn Legacy Way The goal of our club is to provide the best possible, all-round soccer experience for ALL of our players. We have developed a program titled The Penn Legacy Way which closely follows the ideals described in US Soccer Federation's new-look curriculum and their Best Practices Guidelines for youth soccer player development. We endeavor to place an emphasis on skill level, learning to play an attractive brand of soccer, good sportsmanship and teamwork. We will base our successes on how well our players develop, not just on the soccer pitch, but as young people, all the while remembering that this is a competitive sport. If our players are enjoying their soccer experience, and being taught the game the right way by the best coaches, then we can achieve great things. That is the Penn Legacy Way. Penn Legacy is a proud affiliate club of the Philadelphia Union and an Elite Member Club of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. The ALL INCLUSIVE player fee covers Individual and Team Training: Summer School of Xcellence: Tues & Wed Tournament Entry Fees evenings, includes field player and GK training. Winter School of Xcellence: 6 sessions starting July 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, 27 in January on Saturday mornings, includes field Penn Legacy Play Days: August 2 and 3 and GK training Speed & Agility Training: sessions incorporated Futsal: 6 sessions starting in January into Summer School of Xcellence Twice weekly Spring practices: beginning Goalkeeper Training: 16 sessions fall spring mid-march Twice weekly Fall Practices: beginning in Aug. Spring League Play: end of March through Fall League Play: end of August through beginning of June November State Cup Play: for U11 and U12 teams Player Costs: The estimated fee range for U9 players is $700-$800, U10 players is $750-$850, U11 players is $975- $1075, and U12 players is $1,125-$1,225. The fee covers Administrative Fees: Coaching/Training Fees, State Fees (player and team), League fees, Insurance, Referee Fees, and Facility Rental. Coaching assignments are subject to change. ALL FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. Additional Fees: Uniforms All Penn Legacy players must purchase the mandatory Penn Legacy uniform items is year one of a two-year uniform cycle. Mandatory Fundraiser: $40, receive 5 car wash tickets. Player fee discounts will be available to families selling additional fundraiser tickets. Details will be presented after tryouts. 4 Style of play/formations Starting in fall 2016, all U9 and U10 teams will learn how to play in both the and the formation. (7v7) All u11 and u12 teams will learn the and the formations. (9v9) All u13, u14, and u15 teams will play the formation. (11v11) U16 and older teams will be encouraged to try different formations (within reason) to best prepare players for collegiate play. Common characteristics of all Penn Legacy teams.. Build up play from the back. Attack-minded all over the field. Movement off the ball, form angles and triangles. Quick free-kicks, no lumping the ball into the box. Try to win the ball back quickly. Players who are comfortable on the ball, and who are not afraid to make mistakes. Creative players. Teams that have a plan, a way of playing, that are confident in how they approach the game. Players who take the initiative in every situation, both with the ball and without. The end game? That there is such thing as a Penn Legacy player, someone who is comfortable and confident on the ball with both feet; who has a great attitude to both training and games; who works with the ball at home; who has a great work ethic, a keen sense of sportsmanship and fair play, and who prides themselves on being a great teammate. July 11-15, 2016 and July 18-22, 2016 HOSTED by: Penn Legacy Soccer Club For the 9th year, Penn Legacy will bring in top notch staff of true Brazilian soccer coaches to provide an exciting and hands-on curriculum to enhance skills in the true Samba style of soccer. PROGRAM LOCATION: Junction Center Fields 1875 Junction Road Manheim, PA JULY - SEAMUS DONNELLY SOCCER SCHOOL Our 9th year for this popular camp! For ages U9 and up Perfect your Skills with Seamus and his Staff Striker & Goalkeeper Camp with got skills? Sessions This year sees the ever popular Striker and Goalkeeper camp get a new look with the addition of Seamus's super intensive got skills? training program. This will include dribbling, footskills, fun challenges, and intensive focus on the "weaker" foot in order to help improve the camper's overall game. The centerpiece of the camp will still be the goalscoring/goalkeeper element. Whether you want to become an expert in the art of scoring goals, or you want to learn how to stop them, then come to these special sessions. Everything you need to know about the two most important parts of soccer will be taught and put into practice exercises and games! All players from all clubs are welcome!
