Balance Gym Sponsorship WAWSL members get $10 off monthly membership fees at their Thomas Circle location. Contact Ben (ben@balancegym.com) to sign up for a membership. Pre season conditioning classes are full at this point The gym will be open to ALL WAWSL MEMBERS (again, Thomas Circle location only) for the last two weeks of March for free If there is enough interest, they will hold a couple of on field training sessions throughout the season. Send me an (commissioner@wawsl.org) if this is something your teammates would be interested in d. Fundraising Due to declining membership over the last few seasons, reduction in certain fines (such as taking away the ref requirement fine), and incentive credits, our expenses have been growing more than our income Balance Gym has offered to help us put on at least one fundraiser this season please encourage your teammates and friends to attend. A fundraiser can only be effective if people actually show up. In the absence of successful fundraising, we will have no choice but to increase registration fees in the coming seasons. We would like to avoid this if possible. e. Player Safety Beginning this season, refs will be advised to call games based on level of play. This means that particularly in the recreational division, rough play will not be tolerated. Regardless of level of play, player safety needs to be of the utmost importance. Even in the spirit of competition, the purpose of this league is not to go pro. Classics division will vote on whether to ban slide tackling. ADULT WOMEN S SOCCER IN DC SINCE 1982
2 f. WAWSL Refund Policy Our policy is that full refunds are given only in the event that a season ending injury occurs before or within the first game. If you have a player who sustains a serious injury, it is imperative that they let me know immediately if they think they will be out the rest of the season (and are planning on seeking a refund) g. Capital Coed Soccer League (CCSL) CCSL is looking for female players if interested, contact Ricardo Lasso (ralasso@lassoandlasso.com) and include division preference (premier, first, second, or third) and position h. Equipment: Teams must have 2 cones fields@wawsl.org if you need to order replacement equipment A forfeit is required for missing or late equipment after the 15 minute grace period (clock starts at scheduled kickoff time). This grace period will be deducted from your total game time. How to Trade Equipment The first teams to arrive must have the cones set up by game time Successive teams give their cones to the teams that played before them If the arriving team does not have equipment by kickoff time, the departing team may take their equipment off the field. Teams are not obligated to wait for equipment or let teams borrow items. If you do lend your equipment to another team, make arrangements to get it back during the coming week before you leave the field. The last teams of the day leave with remaining cones If you do not take all of your required equipment with you when you leave the field and it results in lost or misplaced equipment, you are responsible for replacing the items! i. Game Schedules The season runs from March 29 through May 31 Scheduling software balances AM/PM games and field distribution We must stick to the scheduled game times! We will make every effort possible to minimize bye weeks, but you may end up with one. There will be no games Memorial Day weekend Make up games can potentially be held on either June 7 or June 14
