The average Student attendance to Men s soccer matches for the 2009 season ranged between 20 students and 50 students depending on the opponent. Campaign Goal: The goal of the promotion was to increase student attendance at the Marshall Men s soccer game v University of Memphis on October 21 st. Our goal for this event was to have 200 students in attendance. A promotional t-shirt that read, Jam the Sam was given to the first 200 students as an incentive to attend the match. Campaign Logistics: Preparation and advertising for this event began about 4 weeks in advance. Advertisements were placed in the following locations; Edwards Football Stadium, during our Homecoming weekend of October 2nd Football Parking Garage on campus Cam Henderson Center Herdzone.com, sport specific promotional page (Men s Soccer) and Splash page and on the promotions page Facebook, Marshall University Athletics and Marshall Maniacs Twitter Student Center Mail boxes at all student dorms (9 residence halls total) Student Cafeterias Campus wide s, Olympic Sport list-serve reminder s Radio Station WRVC AM930, Olympic Sports Radio Update PA Announcements at all Marshall Athletic events Local business around campus

3 Yard signs Video Board on 3 rd Avenue T-shirts were designed by a local printing company and paid for by Marshall Men s Soccer boosters. Day of event; Free t-shirts were given away to the first 200 students to show their Marshall ID. Campaign Results: A total of 559 fans attended the Men s Soccer game vs. Memphis. The student attendance at this event was around 300. The results of this campaign were deemed a success as Marshall Men s Soccer Averages Student fans per match. This was a 600% increase in student attendance and support. The 200 free t-shirts were all given away between 6pm and 6:45pm. Students continued to come and support the event even after all the t-shirts were gone.

11 Press Release HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - A second half goal from redshirt freshman Devin Perkins proved to be the game-winner as the Marshall University men's soccer team outlasted the Memphis Tigers 2-1 in front of 550 fans at "Jam the Sam" night on Wednesday evening. The win improves Marshall to overall, and an impressive in Conference USA action. Memphis drops to and in C-USA. "This was a huge win for us," head coach Bob Gray said. "Memphis is probably the most physical team we will play all year. But we stepped up in the second half and did the things we needed to do. To be 4-1 puts us in a good position moving towards the post-season." MU broke the scoreless tie in the 16th minute when junior midfielder Sammy Boateng made a great individual play down the sideline and crossed the ball to a streaking Tom Jackson who buried it past Memphis's Michael Goodlett. It was Jackson's third goal of the season. Memphis would even the game seven minutes later when Rick Alleman curved the ball into the top right corner from the left side of the box, past an out-stretched Daniel Withrow. However, that would be the lone goal scored on the freshman net minder as he finished the night with seven saves. The game-winner came in the 60th minute when Jackson drew a foul right outside of the Tigers 18-yard box. Senior Dustin Dawes ripped the free kick which Goodlett could not handle, and Perkins was there for the tap in. Perkins tallied his third goal of the season on the play. The Thundering Herd had to withstand late pressure from the Tigers, but managed to hold on for the victory and improve to 5-0 at home on the season. Through 14 games, the Herd has allowed just 13 goals. "We have been absolutely solid on defense," Gray said. "It was a great team effort back there tonight. I was worried about Memphis because they have had our number in years past, but we matched their intensity in the second half and earned three points." Marshall will have four days to prepare for a first-place showdown when No. 16 Tulsa comes to Huntington on Oct. 25. Kickoff on Sunday night is set for 7 p.m.
