OPENING KICKOFF The New York Red Bulls (4-3-1, 13 pts) will host Autism Awareness Night at Red Bull Arena on Saturday, for their match against Chicago Fire (3-2-2, 11 pts) presented by Speedway. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. ET, with coverage on MSG, MSG GO, Sirius XM 85 and New York Red Bulls Radio on Tunein. New York Red Bulls Radio goes live at 6:30 p.m. ET with Countdown to Kickoff, hosted by Matt Harmon. The Red Bulls have stretched their unbeaten streak at Red Bull Arena to 18 consecutive matches (15-0-3). During the stretch, the Red Bulls have tallied 12 clean sheets. After a 2-0 victory over then-first place Columbus on Saturday, New York has blanked its first four opponents at Red Bull Arena. It is the first time in club history that the Red Bulls have not allowed a goal at home through the first four games of a season. For the first time in franchise history, five Homegrown players made an appearance in the same match on Saturday against Columbus. Alex Muyl, Tyler Adams and Connor Lade started for the Red Bulls and Sean Davis and Derrick Etienne came off the bench. Muyl carried over his momentum from D.C. and tallied his second-straight game-winning goal against Columbus. Muyl has already doubled the amount of game-winning goals by a Homegrown player in the first eight games of 2017 than the previous two seasons. Connor Lade s goal in the 37th minute against Orlando City was the only game-winning goal by a Homegrown player last season. Sacha Kljestan continues to create opportunities for the offense as he tallied his fourth assist of 2017 and his 12th career game-winning assist versus Columbus. Kljestan surpassed Thierry Henry as the club s all-time leader with 12 game-winning assists. 5 LAST TIME OUT Bradley Wright-Phillips became the all-time leading scorer in New York Red Bulls history when he tapped in a cross by Connor Lade in the 90th minute to help the visitors escape Toyota Park with a 2-2 draw against the Chicago Fire Son July 31, Wright-Phillips goal was his 63rd in all competitions and spoiled what would have been the Fire s fifth consecutive home win. A defensive blunder by the Fire gave the Red Bulls a 1-0 lead on 16 minutes. Sean Johnson hesitated on a ball played into the box by Mike Grella and Matt Polster slid and tapped into his own net from the edge of the six-yard box. Chicago leveled in the 35th minute when David Accam picked up a second ball after Michael de Leeuw won a challenge with Ronald Zubar and ran into space. Accam blasted a low shot to the left of Red Bulls goalkeeper Luis Robles from 24 yards out for his fifth goal of the season. Polster made amends for his earlier gaffe by latching onto a whipped in ball by John Goossens and putting his diving header past Robles from the edge of the sixyard box in the second minute of first-half stoppage time. RED BULL ARENA TOUGH ON CHICAGO New York and Chicago have gone toe-to-toe 53 times with the Fire owning a all-time lead. The Red Bulls, however, have turned the tide against Chicago at Red Bull Arena. New York owns a mark when it hosts Chicago at RBA. New York has outscored Chicago, 17-13, at Red Bull Arena, including three clean sheets and wins in the last two matches. Chicago has held New York scoreless just once in the last eight matches at Red Bull Arena. MOTIVATED MUYL Alex Muyl, a Homegrown, has made the most of his time on the pitch this season, especially when he is placed into the starting XI. Over the past two matches, Muyl has generated an early goal to give the Red Bulls back-to-back wins at home. Muyl scored in the 46th minute against D.C. and then in the 11th minute versus Columbus, both goals would stand as the eventual game-winner. When Muyl has been implemented into the starting lineup this season, New York is unbeaten with a mark. A WELL-DESERVED HOMESTAND Since Jan. 23, the New York Red Bulls have not stayed in New Jersey for more than 10 calendar days. This trend changed against D.C on April 15. New York has already found great success in its first of two three-match homestands with back-to-back 2-0 wins against D.C. United and Columbus. The Red Bulls finish with Chicago on Saturday. The Red Bulls have gained points in bunches when they are home for three games while head coach Jesse Marsch has been at the helm. New York has been at home for three-straight matches three times under Marsch and have earned at least five points in NEW YORK RED BULLS vs. CHICAGO FIRE each homestand. In 2017, New York has already collected six of nine potential points during a three-match homestand. BEST HOME RECORD Since Red Bull Arena opened in 2010, the Red Bulls have the best home record in MLS, with the most home wins and points. MLS Best Home Record Since 2010 Record Points 1. New York Red Bulls Seattle Sounders FC LA Galaxy FC Dallas Real Salt Lake New York has not lost a match at home since April 9, 2016 against Sporting Kansas City, 2-0. With the draw on March 25 versus Real Salt Lake, it clinched that the team have not lost at home during the regular season for a full calendar year. The Red Bulls are currently unbeaten in their last 18 MLS regular-season matches at RBA. During that stretch, New York is and have outscored its opponent, 35-10, since its loss to Sporting Kansas City. New York has accrued 12 clean sheets at Red Bull Arena during its 18-match home unbeaten streak during MLS regular season. DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE Red Bulls goalkeeper Luis Robles has been a stalwart in net at Red Bull Arena since he came to the club in Of Robles s 43 career clean sheets, he has recorded 29 of them at Red Bull Arena. He has a career 1.03 goals-against average at home. Robles has continued his trend of blanking the opposition at home, as he has tallied four-straight shutouts at Red Bull Arena to begin It is the first time in club history that the Red Bulls have not allowed a goal through the first four games of the season at home. Robles is on track to replicate his scoreless streak at home that he created last season, as he has not allowed a goal at Red Bull Arena in 360 minutes. His record in 2016 was 588 minutes, which is the third-longest in MLS history, that spanned from April 24 to July 24. THAT S A LOT OF OFFENSE The New York Red Bulls recorded their 1,000th career MLS goal on April 1 against Houston when Bradley Wright-Phillips scored his second goal of the season in the 13th minute. New York became just the third club in MLS history to reach the milestone, joining the LA Galaxy and D.C. United. The Red Bulls achieved the feat in their 667th game as a club. Not only did the Red Bulls record 1,000 MLS goals, they joined the 1,000-1,000 MLS club. Along with the LA Galaxy and D.C. United, New York also became the third team in MLS history to record 1,000 MLS goals and 1,000 MLS assists. 5 NewYorkRedBulls.com 5 IN: M Zeiko Lewis (1/13/17 - SuperDraft) M Dan Metzger (1/23/17 - signed from NYRB II) GK Evan Louro (1/23/17 - Homegrown) M Arun Basuljevic (1/24/17 - Homegrown) GK Rafael Diaz (1/24/17 - signed from NYRB II)) D Hassan Ndam (1/31/17 - transfer from Rainbow FC) D MIchael Amir Murillo (2/21/17 - loan from San Francisco FC) D Aaron Long (2/22/17 - signed from NYRB II) F Fredrik Gulbrandsen (3/10/17 loan from Red Bull Salzburg) OUT: NEW YORK TRANSACTIONS D - Karl Ouimette (11/28/16 - option declined) D - Ronald Zubar (11/28/16 - option declined) F - Omer Damari (12/12/16 - loan expired) M - Shaun Wright-Phillips (12/12/16 - out of contract) GK - Kyle Reynish (12/12/16 - out of contract) D - Chris Duvall (12/13/16 - Expansion Draft) M - Dax McCarty (1/16/17 - traded to Chicago)

6 CLUB CONNECTIONS Sporting director Denis Hamlett was an assistant coach for the Chicago Fire from 1998 through 2007, then promoted to head coach and stayed on from 2008 to Both head coach Jesse Marsch ( ) and assistant coach Chris Armas ( ) had lengthy stints as players in Chicago. Chicago midfielder Dax McCarty is the most familiar with New York as he spent five and half seasons donning the Red Bull jersey. Both Gonzalo Veron and Luis Solignac share the same hometown of Buenos Aires, Argentina. INTEGRATING HOMEGROWNS Through eight matches in the 2017 campaign, the New York Red Bulls have been able to integrate their homegrown players, not just with playing time, but as starters. Five of the seven homegrown players have been given the nod to at least start one game this season. Midfielder Sean Davis started the first three games of the season before coming off the bench against Real Salt Lake. Versus Real Salt Lake, three of the 11 Red Bull starters were homegrown players as Tyler Adams, Connor Lade and Alex Muyl found themselves in the Starting XI. For the second game in a row, New York implemented three homegrowns in the starting lineup, featuring Derick Etienne, Adams and Lade against Houston. Midfielder Adams has replaced Davis in the starting XI and has started the last four matches. The player growth and the trust in the coaching staff have shown in minutes played from last season to this season. For the first time in franchise history, five Homegrown players made an appearance in the same match. Muyl, Adams and Lade started for the Red Bulls and both Davis and Etienne came off the bench. The seven homegrown players combined for just 766 minutes through eight games last season. In 2017, the same seven players have racked up 1,549 minutes. The 1,549 minutes are the most minutes for homegrown players on a single club in the MLS in GOALS IN BUNCHES New York s offense seems to be kickstarting it self much like it did in 2016 and in the same fashion. The Red Bulls offense has tallied back-to-back twogoal performances en route to 2-0 victories. In the 2-0 win over D.C., New York s Alex Muyl quickly found the back of the net a minute into the second half. Bradley Wright-Phillips followed just 16 minutes later to double up the score. Against Columbus, Muyl, again, got the New York offense going with a strike in the 11th minute. Daniel Royer responded with his own goal off a penalty-kick attempt just 27 minutes later. BALANCED ATTACK In 2016, 13 different players found the back of the net for the Red Bulls in league play. That number tied for fifth-most goal scorers on any MLS team. D.C. United (18) has the most, while the L.A. Galaxy (14), Portland (14), and NYC FC (14) are also ahead of the Red Bulls. NEW YORK RED BULLS vs. CHICAGO FIRE Fifteen players netted a goal during the 2015 regular season, six more than in Through the first eight matches in 2017, New York has tallied three different goal scorers. Alex Muyl, Daniel Royer and Bradley Wright-Phillips have each found the back of the net for the Red Bulls to begin THE CREATOR Sacha Kljestan has made a big impact on the Red Bulls offense and has had his best years of soccer since coming to the club in In his first five seasons at Chivas USA ( ), Kljestan accrued 33 assists in 114 games. Since coming to the Red Bulls in 2015, he has tallied 38 assists in 72 games. Kljestan has wasted no time in 2017 under the assist column, recording four assists in seven games. With an assist against D.C. to raise his Red Bull total to 37, Kljestan moved into sole possession for second place in club history, trailing Theirry Henry s club-leading 42. Kljestan s secondary assist on Alex Muyl s game-winning goal against Columbus made him the club s alltime leader in game-winning assists with 12, surpassing Theirry Henry. With 38 assists in 72 appearances, Kljestan is the club s all-time leader in game-winning assists (12), assists per-game (.53) and assists per 90 minutes (0.56). In 2016, Kljestan set a new club record for single-season assists with his 15th on August 21. The midfielder finished the regular season with 20 assists, becoming just the second player in league history to reach the 20-assist plateau. Kljestan, who tied the club record in 2015, broke the mark set by Eduardo Hurtado in 1998, and equaled by Thierry Henry in FIRST BLOOD New York is when scoring first this season. The Red Bulls were when scoring first in 2016, including an mark when scoring first at home. CONSISTENTLY GOOD The Red Bulls qualified for the postseason for the seventh-consecutive year in 2016, the longest stretch among major sports teams in the New York metro area. New York finished as the top seed in the Eastern Conference for the third time in four years with 57 points. New York achieved a 50+ point season for the fifth straight year, a mark only three other MLS clubs have achieved. The LA Galaxy have the only other longest streak, with seven straight 50+ point campaigns. Since 2014, New York has accrued the second most points in the league (180), sitting just eight points back of FC Dallas for the most. Points from 2014-Present FC Dallas NYRB Seattle LA Galaxy Total MARSCH MOVES UP WINS LIST The win over Columbus was the 38th of Jesse Marsch s New York career. After a late season win against Columbus in 2016, Marsch moved ahead of his mentor, Bob Bradley, for sole possession of third place on the club s all-time wins list. Hans Backe and Octavio Zambrano are tied for the overall lead with 41 regular season wins. New York Coaches - Career Wins Coach Wins 1. Hans Backe Octavio Zambrano Jesse Marsch Bob Bradley Mike Petke 30 BWP HERE TO STAY The New York Red Bulls have signed two-time MLS Golden Boot Winner Bradley Wright-Phillips to a new, multi-year MLS contract, the club announced on March 29. With the new deal, Wright-Phillips will now occupy a Designated Player spot on the roster. The London native is the franchise s all-time leader in career goals in MLS (72) and across all competitions (80). He also holds franchise records for career hat tricks (4), multigoal games (16) and game-winning goals (20). The London native joined New York in the Summer of 2013 as a trialist. In his first full season in 2014, Wright-Phillips won the MLS Golden Boot by tying the league s single-season scoring record with 27 goals. Wright-Phillips is the fourth player in league history to record three consecutive 15+ goal seasons, and netted another 24 last season to complete his pair of scoring titles. MARSCH ROUNDS OUT COACHING STAFF The New York Red Bulls announced that Bradley Carnell has been named as an assistant coach. The former South African international joined Jesse Marsch s staff at the end of March. Carnell, a native of Johannesburg, South Africa, most recently served as an assistant coach with the Orlando Pirates in South Africa s Premier Soccer League. As a player, the defender totaled over 300 professional appearances, mostly in the Bundesliga. Carnell s professional career started in 1993 with Wits University (now Bidvest Wits FC). New York has come away with at least one point in seven of its 10 back-to-back roadtrips with Marsch at the helm. A WHIRLWIND ARRIVAL Newly arrived forward Fredrik Gulbrandsen found himself immediately involved upon arrival-- Gulbrandsen received his visa on Friday, March 10, and traveled to New York from his native Norway, arriving late Friday night. Despite the quick turnaround, Gulbrandsen found himself making his New York debut the following day, replacing Bradley Wright-Phillips in the 88th minute of th Red Bulls 1-0 win over the Colorado Rapids. After getting play time in his first MLS game off the bench against Colorado, Gulbrandsen was able to quick acclimate himself to the system and earned his first career MLS start on the road against Seattle. Gulbrandsen played 57 minutes and generated one shot against the Sounders. Gulbrandsen, 24, joins New York on year-long loan from FC Red Bull Salzburg. KLJESTAN NAMED CAPTAIN Following the trade of Dax McCarty to the Chicago Fire, Sacha Kljestan was named captain by head coach Jesse Marsch. Kljestan is entering his 11th professional season, and third since returning to MLS with the Red Bulls after three and a half years playing for RSC Anderlecht in Belgium. ROYER GETS IT ROLLING The big signing of Summer 2016, Danny Royer, got the Red Bulls going in week 1, scoring off of a header from seven yards out to tie the match in Atlanta. Royer, who joined New York on a transfer from FC Midtjylland, had one goal and one assist in six appearances last season. ROBLES RECORDS ANOTHER Red Bulls goalkeeper Luis Robles continues to rewrite the history books, setting another all-time MLS mark on March 11 against Colorado. With an appearance against the Rapids, Robles broke the league s all-time mark for consecutive regular season appearances with his 142 nd. Robles surpasses previous record holder, Chris Klein.
