"Just to reflect back on [the match against] Portland, obviously not a good result for the group. After a good start to the game, a good first 30 minutes, we had the lapse on the throw in where [Darlington] Nagbe makes a play. We had guys around the ball, just don't get a block -- a little unlucky, it goes through Richie [Marquez's] legs. At that point, not us on the response. After we gave up the goal, it was a little bit of a letdown. We got in at halftime, talked about some things, and in the second half they came out and got a goal off of the restart. We push the game a little bit, try to respond, got caught up the field and they punished us for the third goal. Obviously, we're not happy with where we are in the table. We've lost three games in a row now. It's important to keep perspective and recognize the good moments that we've had: against Vancouver, against Toronto, a half against Orlando. [We had] a couple lapses against D.C., and then the Portland game, the most recent one. We do still have a very good group, we have a good team. We've had good meetings this week, stressed bringing energy, bringing the passion on our home field, on a short week against a good New York City FC team and that's what we'll look to do Friday night." On NYCFC... "[NYCFC] played last week in D.C., they played with three centeracks, almost like a version of a They have the confidence to build out of the back, it's no secret. Patrick has them playing very well, great attacking players and confidence to pass out of their own box, to be quite honest. They believe in their system, they believe in their style, and it's up to us to try to stop it. It's not going to be a secret to how they play. They're not going to all of a sudden turn into a longball team that plays to David Villa's head. That's not going to change. We know what they're going to do. They have very good players that are difficult to stop, but it starts with our initial pressure off of their goal kicks either way, not letting them get a rhythm because if one guy is late, and one guy is sleeping on our team, it starts this kind of domino effect of a guy being a half step late, not closing [Andrea] Pirlo, and the next thing you know, he's playing a through ball to Villa and you're scrambling. [Rodney] Wallace and [Jack] Harrison are two dangerous wingers running off of him. They've been able to score a bunch of goals this year, so we'll have our hands full. Again, it starts with that initial pressure. If you give them time and space, they have too much quality and they'll pick you apart. We have to all be on the same page and really go together. I'm confident that our group will have a good response and do that on our home field."
