2 Club History The Brotherhoods UCL Winning Team of 1920 Peterborough Sports football club was founded in 1908 and were initially known as Brotherhoods Engineering Works a factory side for the company that was founded by Peter Brotherhood in 1867 that was famed for designing and manufacturing the first steam turbine engine in the world. The club honours its heritage to this day with the turbine engine featuring in the club badge. The club were called Bearings Direct in the 1990's and then changed to Peterborough Sports all at the same Lincoln Road ground. The club started life in the Northants League in 1919 (which became the UCL in 1934) winning the title in that first season before joining the Peterborough League in Whilst some of the early records are somewhat patchy, the club is thought to have once entertained Tottenham Hotspur at Lincoln Road before the 2nd World War in front of a crowd of 4,000 at a time when a stand went down the whole length of the ground and drew over 3,000 for the visit of local

3 rivals Peterborough & Fletton United (now Peterborough United). During the 2nd world war the club benefited from a number of professional footballers being sent to work at the factory including QPR right back Jack Rose. The clubs most successful year came in the 2006/07 season when both the Peterborough Premier Division and Northants Junior Cup were secured for the only time in the clubs history and in season 2010/11 the club secured its first PFA trophy since World War 2, when lifting the Challenge Cup and were promoted back to the Peterborough League Premier Division A number of ex Peterborough United stalwarts in the shape of Noel Luke, Dave Robinson, Tommy Robson & Jack Carmichael all turned out for the club in a golden period of mid 1990's, however without doubt the clubs most famous player is Victor Watson, born in Chesterton on November 10th 1897; Watson was signed by Brotherhood Engineering Works from Peterborough & Fletton United shortly before the first world war. He played in the Northants League title winning team of 1919/20 before moving onto West Ham United for 50 in March He remains the Hammers record goal scorer with 326 goals from 505 appearances. Watson was in the West Ham team that lost 2-0 to Bolton Wanderers in the first ever FA Cup Final at Wembley in front of an estimated 200,000 in a game made famous by the white horse called Billy that controlled the crowd as it spilled over the touchline. Watson went onto to play 5 times for England scoring 4 times between 1923 & 1930 including a brace against Scotland in In 1929 he scored 6 goals in an 8-2 home win against Leeds United and eventually retired from the game in 1936 having spent his last season as a player at Southampton. Victor moved back to Girton in Cambridgeshire after his playing days to become a market gardener and passed away in August 1988 at the age of 88. In June 2010 a plaque was unveiled honouring his career in Girton, Cambridgeshire. Our full club history can be found at

4 Ground Development Peterborough Sports are currently undergoing a major redevelopment plan of our Lincoln Road ground. Using funding from Parkway Sports & Social Club under a Section 106 order following the sale of land at Eye plus a 50,000 grant from the Football Foundation. The total project will come in at around 200,000 and includes the building of new changing rooms, a concrete walkway and barrier around the pitch, new dug outs, a wooden fence enclosing the ground and a seat stand. The 2 nd phase includes the installation of floodlighting for which planning permission has been granted and ball stop netting behind each goal as well as fitting seats into the stand.

5 Advertising Boards Advertise your company for 3 years for just 300 This includes the manufacture of the board and all artwork Book early to secure a prime spot opposite the clubhouse and Grandstand. Alternatively have your board placed on the wooden fence behind the left hand goal for exposure at a raised height.

6 Programme Sponsorship Just 100 secures a full page in our programme for the entire Season 2013/14 and our programme will be given FREE to every spectator at our all of our first team home games

7 Kit Sponsorship Purchase a kit for one of our 6 sides in our club colours of Royal Blue from our kit provider Chroma Sports with your name emblazoned across the front of our shirts for just years usage is expected from each kit Alternatively you can purchase polo shirts, warm up t-shirts, club sweaters, drill tops, track suits or substitute suits for any of our sides on the same basis. 8 Player Sponsorship For just 100 for the season have your company name and logo appear under your chosen players profile in the programme for 1 st team matches and have your company logo on the front right hand side of all clothing except the playing kit.

9 Corner Flag Sponsorship For just 250 Have your company name and logo emblazoned onto all of our corner & halfway line flags for 3 seasons, ensuring exposure during all games played at Lincoln Road

10 Ground Naming Rights For just 10,000 for 5 years Have your company name at the front of Park and this will become the official address of the football club, shown in all correspondence and match reports. This package will also include signage at the ground entrance, an advertising board and 2 season tickets for use at all games for 5 years.

11 Match day Sponsorship Why not sponsor a game? For just 100 you will have your name on the front of the match day programme and meet the Sports team in the changing rooms before enjoying the match day hospitality with the committee of both clubs before the game and at half-time Your name will also be read out on the tannoy and you will be invited to provide a mascot for the game who will join you in the centre circle for the coin toss. You will also be asked to nominate a Sports man-of-the-match that and have your name included in the match report on the club website

12 Want to become more involved? All forms of non-league football are both competitive and expensive to run. Our vision is that Peterborough Sports FC creates a real community club that provides opportunities for local men and women aged 16 and over to play football on a good pitch with decent facilities. We want to reach out and encourage the people of Peterborough and the surrounding area to come and watch these games in comfortable surroundings and go away having enjoyed their experience. We aim to challenge the established non-league clubs in the local area with no limit placed on our long term ambition and in this vibrant growing City; we want everyone to feel proud to be associated with our achievements. Opportunities exist for roles within the club, particularly on home match days. We are also keen to bring onto the Management Committee, which as we evolve will become a Board of Directors, individuals who can bring with them experience in relevant roles and ability to raise the funding that will be required for this vision to be realised.
