1 MYSL Cup Overview MYSL CUP Overview 2018 The MYSL Cup is a tw-year intra-league cmpetitin that begins each fall fr MYSL - registered U11 teams and cncludes fr thse teams in their U12 Spring seasn. The MYSL Cup Title will include its cmpletin year, fr example the 2016 MYSL Cup was the inauguratin f this multi-seasn cmpetitin which began with the Fall 2014 seasn, and cncluded at the end f the Spring 2016 seasn. The first three MYSL Cup Cmpetitins and seasnal designatins are illustrated n the MYSL Cup Cmpetitin timeline chart belw. This cmpetitin will be cnducted separately fr bth the girls and bys divisins. The Michigan Yuth Sccer League (MYSL) will administer and gvern the MYSL Cup. Participating Teams will be awarded pints ver the multi-seasn cmpetitin fr n-field results, displays f gd sprtsmanship, caching develpment and parent participatin. The highest cumulative ttal pints awarded will determine each team s MYSL Cup ranking. At the cnclusin f every U12 Spring seasn beginning in 2016 the MYSL Cup Champin will be decided by a playff between the tp fur ranked teams determined by their final pint ttals. It is expected that teams will cmpete in all fur (4) seasns (bth Fall and Spring f U11 and U12) fr the chance t be the MYSL Cup Champin. Teams autmatically qualify t participate in the MYSL Cup Cmpetitin that (I) have at least eight (8) U11 age-apprpriate rstered players, (II) register t play in an MYSL U11 divisin in the team s Fall U11 seasn, and (III) elect t participate. Fr participating teams, there are n special r additinal charges abve the nrmal MYSL registratin fees. MYSL Cup Cmpetitive Seasns Fr the purpses f this cmpetitin, the fur seasns f play will be designated MYSL Cup Seasn 1 (Fall f U11), MYSL Cup Seasn 2 (Spring f U11), MYSL Cup Seasn 3 (Fall f U12) and MYSL Cup Finals (Spring f U12). Fr this cmpetitin all participating teams will cnduct play in their respective divisins under the rules and regulatins including respnsibility fr all related field, referee and club/league fees. Fr teams participating in the MYSL Cup there are n special divisining r scheduling prcedures fr any seasn with the exceptin f the tp ten (10) ranked teams in the MYSL Cup Finals seasn as described belw. 2 MYSL Cup Pint System MYSL Cup Pint System The MYSL Cup pint system is a dynamic, cmpetitively driven system and may be adjusted prir t each seasn. MYSL CUP Seasn 1 Every qualified MYSL Cup team playing in the U11 Fall seasn will be initially awarded 1,000 MYSL Cup pints at the start f the MYSL Cup Seasn 1. MYSL Cup Game Pints MYSL Cup Seasns 1, 2, and 3 Pints will be awarded based n each team s best eight (8) game results ver the seasn (this is t ensure a balance in the number f games fr thse divisins that have mre than 8 games). Pints will be awarded based n all games played in each seasn even thugh sme divisin teams may nt be participating in the MYSL Cup. Game pints will be awarded as fllws: 250 pints fr each win. 150 pints fr each tie. MYSL Cup Finals Seasn Fr the Spring U12 (MYSL Cup Finals Seasn) game pints will be awarded as fllws: Prir t the seasn start date, the MYSL Cup teams in each divisin will be designated either as a tier-ne team r a tier-tw team based upn the cumulative number f MYSL Cup pints achieved up t that date. These designatins will be indicated by a T1 fr a tier ne team r T2 fr a tier tw team n the MYSL Cup standings. Pints fr wins and ties will then be awarded n a scaled pint system based n the quality f a win r tie against the ther divisin ppnents as fllws: 250 pints fr each win against anther tier-ne team. 150 pints fr each tie against anther tier-ne team. 150 pints fr each win against a tier-tw team. 100 pints fr each tie against a tier-tw team. [Please nte: Since MYSL allws teams the flexibility t seek their best level f cmpetitin, there may ccur an uneven number f teams in any divisin. Please refer t the divisin tier chart belw.] Page 2

It is anticipated that this curse wuld be cmpleted by all parents prir t the team s registratin in the MYSL Cup Finals seasn as such pints may affect rankings. MYSL may additinally award pints fr ther team/caching activities if/when they becme administratively practical and beneficially recgnized as enhancing this cmpetitin. Lss f MYSL Cup Pints* In rder t stress the imprtance f gd sprtsmanship and behavir by the players, caches, team fficials and parents, the fllwing will be enfrced: Teams will lse pints fr receiving Red and/r the equivalent by Yellw Cards: 500 pts. fr each instance where a player is issued a Red Card in categries b, c, f. 250 pts. fr each instance where a player is issued a Red Card in categries a, d, e, g. 500 pts. fr each instance where any team fficial is issued a Red Card r send-ff. Teams will lse 500 pints fr each frfeited game. * Fr the MYSL Cup Cmpetitin this will be enfrced beginning with the MYSL Cup Seasn 3. Page 3

4 Team verificatin f awarded MYSL Cup Pints While every effrt will be made t accurately reflect each team s pint ttals, it is anticipated that differences may ccur. It will be the respnsibility f each team t review its standings and challenge by ing the MYSL CUP submissin frm identifying all differences within 15 days f each game t the MYSL Cup Directr. Als, it will be the respnsibility f each head cach t reprt any USSF licenses earned during this cmpetitin. Additinally, if a team wishing t participate des nt find its name listed n the standings, it shuld cntact the MYSL Cup Directr with infrmatin why it shuld be included in this cmpetitin. Teams changing names shuld als send an t the MYSL Cup Directr identifying the prir name and MYSL Cup team number t crrectly assign the team s pint ttal. Minimum Team Participatin The MYSL Cup Cmpetitin is designed fr a minimum f thirty (30) teams, f each gender, cmpeting in each f the fur seasns. Therefre MYSL in exercising its gvernance may make any adjustments, t this cmpetitin, it deems necessary shuld the minimum number f qualified teams nt be met. Page 4

5 MYSL Cup Finals and Champinship The MYSL Cup Finals Seasn and Champinship Series After the cnclusin f the MYSL Cup Seasn 3 (Fall U12 seasn), the tp ten (10) teams ranked by MYSL Cup pints will have the pprtunity t cntinue t participate in the MYSL Cup Cmpetitin by placement int tw MYSL Cup Divisins (f nt mre than 6 teams in each) the MYSL Cup Blue Divisin and the MYSL Cup Gld Divisin. The divisins will be seeded starting with the team awarded the mst pints being placed in the MYSL Cup Blue Divisin and then the team with the next highest number f pints being placed in the MYSL Cup Gld Divisin and each successively ranked team by pints being likewise placed in alternating divisins until the divisins are filled. [All ther MYSL teams playing U12 r pting ut f the MYSL Cup Cmpetitin wuld fllw nrmal divisining prcedures fr the U12 Spring seasn.] At the beginning f the MYSL Cup Finals seasn, MYSL will equalize the pint ttals fr all 10 teams in the MYSL Cup Blue and Gld Divisins by resetting each team s pint ttal t 7,000 pints. Game pints awarded thrughut this seasn are then awarded as previusly indicated (page 2). At the cnclusin f seasnal play the tp tw (2) teams based n their ttal MYSL Cup cmpetitin pints in each f the tw MYSL Cup divisins will then be invited t play in a MYSL Cup semi-finals rund rbin f the MYSL Cup Champinship Series. This will ccur n selected dates just the prir t the tryut weekend. MYSL will be respnsible fr the field site and referee expenses fr the MYSL Cup Champinship Series. MYSL Cup Champinship Series Frmat fr MYSL Cup Semi-Finals and Champinship (Spring U12 Seasn): I) The Semi-Finals will be played as fllws: the First Place Team f the MYSL Blue Divisin vs. Secnd Place Team f the MYSL Cup Gld Divisin and the Secnd Place Team f the MYSL Cup Blue Divisin vs. the First Place Team f MYSL Cup Gld Divisin. II) The Champinship Game: Winners frm each f the Semi-Final games. The MYSL Cup Finals and Champinship Awards At the cnclusin f the MYSL Cup Finals seasn, the players n each f the Semi-Final teams will receive a valuable merchandise card. The tw teams playing in The Champinship Game will receive the fllwing awards; the players and caches f the secnd place team will each receive a $25 merchandise card in lieu f a trphy and an MYSL Cup Finalist jersey; and the players and caches f the MYSL Cup Champin will each receive a $50 merchandise card in lieu f a trphy and an MYSL Cup Champin jersey.
