1 BELLES FANS GUIDE WELCOME TO THE KEEPMOAT STADIUM We re glad that you ve decided to attend a Doncaster Rovers Belles home game for the 2017 FA WSL season and hope this guide will provide you with all the information you need to know for your trip to Keepmoat Stadium. Since opening in December 2006, Keepmoat Stadium has been home to Doncaster s prestigious sporting teams - Doncaster Rovers Belles, Doncaster Rovers, Doncaster Athletic Club and Doncaster Rugby League FC. The 15,000 capacity stadium has received great acclaim since its opening and continues to impress supporters and players alike. The venue has been host to numerous Youth internationals and also hosted the 2013 FA Women s Cup Final. As for the Belles, it was originally formed in 1969 as the Belle Vue Belles by young women were selling draw tickets on the terraces at Doncaster Rovers. They started playing local small-sided games but within a short period of time they found themselves venturing outside of Doncaster and subsequently the Belle Vue part of the name had no meaning. In 1971 the club changed their name and became known as the Doncaster Belles. In March 2009 we were named as one of the eight members of the inaugural FA Women s Super League due to start in March In 2014, we moved to FA WSL 2 to compete alongside nine other sides for promotion and we gained promotion into FA WSL 1 in In this guide you ll find information on ticketing, travel to the stadium, the food and drink options available to you and much, much more. If there is a question you have that isn t answered please contact our Media Team, Chris Donald and Steven Chicken on: media@donnybelles.co.uk. WHAT TO EXPECT We are a small, friendly club, operating with mainly match day volunteers and from a large stadium. Parking Stadium Way runs alongside the West Stand and the main car park, where Rovers wardens stand and charge entry. There are other car parks, which may be free, but will be quieter/less lit up. Outside the stadium other than fans, this will appear quiet. Sometimes we have volunteers available to stand outside, but often we do not, so all the activity will be on the inside. Turnstyle these are Rovers attendants, so will have little knowledge on the Belles or our matches. Inside there is a food bar, merchandise stall and children s activity table. The Belle Vue Bar or the Restaurant will be open for drinks, depending on which side of the stadium the fans are sat. Our mascot, Valda the Viking, will be walking around, mainly at the bottom of the stands. Programmes are sold at the merchandise stall and in the stands. Half time activities will be announced and are subject to the staff availability, other activities or restrictions. We try our very best to provide something. Seating this is unreserved, so you can sit anywhere in the stand which is open. Rovers wardens are around in high viz jackets to help and will stop you if you venture outside the open stands. 3 GETTING TO THE STADIUM *** KEEPMOAT STADIUM, STADIUM WAY, DONCASTER, S.YORKSHIRE DN4 5JW *** BY CAR From the A1(M) join M18 Eastbound at Junction 35 (sign-posted Hull), or from the M1 and join the M18 Eastbound at Junction 32. Once on the M18, leave at Junction 3 and take the A6182 towards Doncaster (the stadium is well signposted from Junction 3 and is about one-and-a-half miles away). You will pass a retail park on your left and then at the next island (which has the Lakeside Pub visible behind it), turn left onto White Rose Way. The Lakeside Shopping Centre is now on your right (the stadium is located directly behind the shopping centre). At the next island turn right into the industrial estate, and after passing the Tesco distribution centre on your right, turn right at the bottom of the road. The stadium is further down on your left. PARKING Parking is available at the stadium, by the West Stand, for 5 per vehicle (Rovers charge). Alternatively, you may find free parking within a short walk. BY TRAIN Doncaster Train Station is serviced regularly by trains from Leeds, Manchester Piccadilly, London Kings Cross and Sheffield, to name just a few. From the train station, you can walk to the adjacent bus station and travel by public transport as described above. Alternatively, there is a taxi rank at the station. BY BUS/RAIL The Keepmoat Stadium has excellent public transport links and several Park and Ride facilities in Doncaster that use the stadium. Regular buses are available from Doncaster town centre to the stadium both before and after the game. Catch any bus bound for Lakeside Village and you ll find yourself at the stadium! 4 MESSAGES FROM FANS Fan 1: Adult Male As soon as I attended my first Belles game with my nine-year-old daughter, we were hooked. I couldn t believe how friendly the club, fans and players were and nothing is too much for them. The players are always available after the game for photos, autographs, or just a chat and this access to young, upcoming players really means a lot. The atmosphere at the Keepmoat is brilliant, especially with the Belles Noisyfans who have no problems taking young fans under their wings and showing them the way. All in all this is our third season following the Belles and I'm so glad we chose this club; I doubt any other has the same family feel. My daughter is now 11 and part of the fixtures and fittings with the Belles Family and we wouldn't have it any other way. Fan 2: Adult Female I am a mum-of-two (a girl aged 10 and boy aged seven). I have found Doncaster Belles to be a fantastic team who pride themselves on being family-friendly and close to their supporters. The mascot of the team is a female Viking and she entertains and greets the children making them feel welcome to the matches. They offer a Childrens Corner, which my two love. It includes drawing, activities, flags and sweets. Also, during half time, games are on offer for the children to participate in. The whole of Doncaster Belles on and off the pitch is aimed at everyone no matter what their age is.
5 INFORMATION A-Z Advertising: There are opportunities to advertise in the matchday programme at very good rates. All enquiries should be directed to Alison Wells, our Commercial Director, at Autographs: The best time to get autographs is pitchside at full-time following the team talk, or in the Keepmoat restaurant / Belle Vue Bar (depending on which stand the fans are in) post-match. All of our players will be happy to sign autographs and pose for photographs! Ball Girls: Opportunities are available to be a ball girl at the match, either through a Matchday or Mascot package, or through our Sister Club Programme. All enquiries for packages should be directed to our first team defender Rhiannon Roberts at: events@donnybelles.co.uk. Those interested in the Sister Club should contact Julie Grundy, first team assistant coach and Sister Club Programme Officer, at: sisterprogramme@donnybelles.co.uk. Cash Machines: The nearest is at Lakeside Village Shopping Centre, immediately adjacent to the Keepmoat. Children s Corner: This is situated on the concourse where you come in. The Children s Corner is a creative corner where children can be entertained with whichever craft has been chosen for the match which we do try and vary. Please note, your child should not be left unattended by you and they remain your responsibility. Disabled: There is disabled access to the ground, toilets, food & drink facilities, merchandise stall and Children s Corner at the Keepmoat, with lifts at the Stands. Doncaster: The Keepmoat Stadium is located in the Lakeside area of Doncaster. Only a couple of minutes walk away is the Lakeside Village Shopping Centre which has various retail outlets and dining options such as a Beefeater, McDonald s and Pizza Hut. Approximately 15 minutes walk away is The Dome Leisure Centre which features an ice-skating rink alongside a vast swimming complex, incorporating several pools and slides. There is also a range of hotels within walking distance. Fixture Changes: All fixtures are subject to alterations so please check the club website ( prior to your departure so you can check for the date, time, destination and entrance stand changes. Food & Drink: During the match, a kiosk is available on the East Stand concourse, selling range of takeaway food and drink, such as chips, hotdogs etc. In addition, the Keepmoat restaurant bar, at the top of the stand, is open for drinks. There are no tables or chairs near the kiosk, but you are welcome to take your refreshments back to the stands. The food is provided by Rovers contractors and we have limited influence. This season we have persuaded them to open a kiosk and the range of food is similar to what would be provided at a men s game. Help: We have a number of volunteers around the stadium who would be pleased to help. The stewards are from Doncaster Rovers, but should also be able to direct you to a Belles helper. Look for someone wearing either the blue training kit or a purple BPP University hoodie and a Belles lanyard with name card. Mascots/Guard of Honour: Opportunities are available to be a mascot/guard of honour at the match - either through a Matchday or Mascot package, or through our Sister Club Programme. All enquiries for packages should be directed to Rhiannon Roberts at: events@donnybelles.co.uk, and for the Sister Club to Julie Grundy at: sisterprogramme@donnybelles.co.uk.
6 Merchandise: A full range of merchandise and matchday programmes are available at the Merchandise Stall which is on the concourse as you enter the stadium. In addition, you can order online through the club website shop for postage or collection at matches. Order of Events As an approximate guide: 1 hour before kick-off turnstile gates open 45 minutes before kick-off - players come onto the pitch to warm-up Petrol Stations: Asda which is further around the Lakeside lake, near The Dome. There s also Sainsbury s over the bridge towards the M18. There is a turning to the left near B&Q, if you continue to drive behind B&Q, you will see the petrol station. Programmes: Our new-look Spring Series 2017 matchday programme contains lots of exclusive information, pictures and interviews as well as expert opinions and club initiatives. The programmes are 3 each and are available to buy from the Merchandise Stall and mobile sellers. The stall is on the concourse as you enter the stadium. Programme sellers walk around the stands, are clearly marked with a Belles lanyard with name card and are wearing programme flags. You can pre-order a programme for posting/collection from the club website shop. Raffle/Football card: Each match we hold a type of raffle or football card lottery. The draw is made at half time. Seats: All tickets are for the East Stand unless otherwise notified. Sponsorship: There are still opportunities to sponsor a player, a coach or some part of the kit. In addition, you can sponsor the match itself, the match ball and matchday programme. All enquiries should be directed to Alison Wells at: commercial@donnybelles.co.uk. Supporters Club: The Belles Noisyfans Supporters Club was set up to support the Belles by increasing attendances and creating a vibrant and positive atmosphere on matchdays. In addition, they wish to work in partnership with the Belles to promote the women s game. They aim to run social events and help with members away travel. The Noisyfans have a website and are on various social media sites. For further details, or to join the Supporters Club, please visit their website at: or them on: donnybellesnoisyfans@gmail.com. You will find them on Facebook by searching Belles Noisyfans and on Ticket Office on the West Stand side of the stadium, just up from the Belle Vue Bar and Rovers shop.
