Ball Line Warm Up GK stands in the area of the ball line matching the color location of the ball. P1 pass to P2 P2 lay the ball off for P1. P1 shoot. P1 must shoot between the cones that are in line with the post. GK is selecting the appropriate technical save according to the shot. The player is warming up his/her striking foot with accuracy and control of the shot.
Ball Line Shooting GK stands high in the white area of the ball line. P1-P2-P3 are doing 1-touch passes in the grid (white area) Coach calls out a player s name & number of a ball player sprints and takes a touch before shooting on target. GK must line up with the appropriate ball and be set for the shot closing the angle. GK is selecting the appropriate technical save according to the shot. GK is moving quickly off the line to close down the angle. Players are working on movement with and without the ball. Players are strengthening technique by using right and left foot for the shot.
Ball Line Shooting with a defender GK stands high in the white area of the ball line. P1-P2-P3-P4 are doing 1-touch passes in the grid (white area) Defender is trying to win the ball. Players make 2 successful passes; then lay the ball through, into the box for incoming striker. Player can dribble or shoot - but does not go past the red line. GK must sprint to close down and adjust to the line of the ball. GK is moving quickly off the line to close down the angle. Players are working on movement with and without the ball. Players are communicating and making decisions off the ball.
Ball Line Shooting (thru ball) with a defender GK stands high in the white area of the ball line. P1 pass to P2 who passes back to P3 who sends a thru ball into the box. P1 times the run into the box to receive the thru ball. GK must explode off his/her line and adjust to the line of the ball; making the decision to win it before the shot or close the player down by communicating to his/her defender or allowing the defender to defend and the GK play the shot. GK is moving quickly off the line to close down the angle. Players are working on movement with and without the ball. Players are communicating and making decisions off the ball. GK s decision making is based on the distance of the ball between the player, defender and the keeper by using the colors on the line and how close the defender is to the player with the ball.
1 st Net Situation- Near Post Shot GK stands low in the yellow area of the ball line. P1 pass to P2 who then sends a ball towards the end line. P1 makes his/her run to connect with the thru ball and take a touch into the 6 yard box. GK follow the angle of the ball and then square up to the shooter. P1 drive a shot on goal. P1 is making a run on the outside of the cones and then trying to cut towards the 6 or inside the box. GK must be 1-2 steps past the near post and an arm s reach from the post. GK must not anticipate the pass!
2 nd Net Situation- Near Post Pass-Shot GK stands low in the yellow area of the ball line. P1 pass to P2 who then sends a ball toward the end line. P1 makes his/her run to connect with the thru ball ; taking a touch toward the 6 yard box. GK follow the angle of the ball and then square up to the shooter. P2 makes a run toward the top of the 6 yard box. P1 pass to the top of the 6 yard box-near post for P2 to shoot first time. GK must turn to face P2 and try to stay big to block near post shot. GK must be 1-2 steps past the post and arm s reach from the post. GK must take away the near post shot and anticipate the pass! Gk try to intercept the pass or turn and close down the shot.
3 rd Net Situation- Far Post Cross-Shot GK stands low in the yellow area of the ball line. P1 pass to P2 who then sends a ball toward the end line. P1 makes his/her run to connect with the thru ball ; taking a touch toward the 6 yard box. GK follow the angle of the ball and then square up to the shooter. P3 makes a run toward the top of the 6 yard box- far post. P1 crosses to the top of the 6 yard box-far post for P3 to shoot. GK must turn and sprint across the net and make the save. GK must be 1-2 steps past the post and arm s reach from the post. GK must not anticipate the pass too early! Gk try to get across the net to make the save.
Owning the box GK stand inside 6 yard box closer to the end line. P1-P2-P3 & P4 are trying to make 2 successful passes inside the grid area with out allowing the defender to intercept the ball. After 2 passes, the ball must be sent across the box and into the opposite grid. The GK and waiting defender are trying not to allow the ball to enter into the opposite grid area. If the ball does make it in successfully, then the waiting defender now becomes the defender and sprints into the grid to win the ball back. The working defender now becomes the waiting defender. GK must communicate with his/her working defender and when the ball is crossed the GK must decide to win it, call it away for the defender or switch sides of the net.
Owning the box + shooter GK stand inside 6 yard box closer to the end line. P1-P2-P3 & P4 are trying to make 2 successful passes inside the grid area with out allowing the defender to intercept. After 2 passes, the ball must be sent to the top of the box for the waiting shooter. The GK must instruct the defender to close down or take away the shot all the while playing the ball line. GK must communicate with his/her working defender and when the ball is crossed the GK must decide to win it, call it away for the defender or set for the shot.
