Stay out / and hike - until you have to go Move in sequence Don t release the old headsail sheet too early Ease main sheet 100mm Bowman helps headsail around Clears the old sheet Wait till boat is upright, then cross and hike Don t choke the sheet
3 Tacking - Light Airs Timing is crucial Roll tacking Bear off to speed up (1 to 2 degrees) Main trimmer squeezes, headsail trimmer eases Small smooth rudder movements Cross when head to wind, and hike Keep the main eased to build speed Have the boat speed called!!!!
4 Tacking - Heavy Airs Crew call waves and gusts, look for flat spot to go Stay out as long as possible, Ready from crew Call out Tacking in 3,2, 1 Steer high, traveller down, jib in Hike and sails in speed up
5 Spinnaker Hoists Set gear to pre-positioned side Bear away set Co-ordinate: Headsail sheet, spi halyard, spi sheet, guy, topping lift, downhaul, genoa halyard Gybe set The headsail must gybe Tack, gybe set Back the headsail The more I practice, the luckier I get
