14 Steep Turns Profile This is a proficiency maneuver to demonstrate aircraft control The objective of the maneuver is to familiarize the pilot the airplane handling characteristics in a turn beyond 35 and improve the instrument panel scan. Steep Turns are done with the Autopilot and Flight Director off Brief PM, if desired, to give 15 rollout call to avoid going through the assigned rollout heading,. Set-up Autopilot and Flight Director OFF Stabilize aircraft at 250kts Entry Make a smooth, coordinated roll to 45 bank Increase N1 by approximately 3-4% Roll-Out Begin a smooth rollout 15 prior to assigned heading
15 Windshear Escape Profile Windshear escape maneuver Manual Flight (PF): Autopilot...DISENGAGE Push Either GA Switch Aggressively Apply MAX Thrust moving the thrust levers press either GA switch. Simultaneously roll wings level and rotate toward an initial pitch attitude of 15 Retract SpeedBrakes Follow Flight Director(If available) (PM) Assure MAX Thrust Verify all required actions have been completed and call out any omissions Windshear escape maneuver Autopilot On (PF): Press either GA switch Verify GA mode annunciation Verify thrust advances to GA power Retract SpeedBrakes Monitor system performance (PM) Assure MAX Thrust Verify all required actions have been completed and call out any omissions (PF) DO NOT change gear or flap configuration until windshear is no longer a factor Monitor vertical speed and altitude DO NOT attempt to regain lost airspeed until windshear is no longer a factor (PM) Monitor vertical speed and altitude Call out any trend toward terrain contact, descending flight path or significant airspeed changes
16 PF Duties EGPWS Warning Profile Disengages Autopilot and Autothrottle Aggressively apply max thrust Simultaneously roll wings level and rotate to an initial pitch attitude of 20 Retract SpeedBrakes If terrain remains a threat, continue rotation up to the pitch limit indicator or stick shaker or initial buffet Assure max thrust Verify all required actions have been completed and call out any omissions DO NOT use Flight Director Commands Do not change gear or flap configuration until terrain separation is assured Monitor radio altimeter for sustained or increasing terrain separation When Clear of terrain, slowly decreased pitch attitude and accelerate Monitor vertical speed and altitude (radio altitude for terrain clearance and Boar altitude for a minimum safe altitude Call out any trend toward terrain contact
