3 COLD STORAGF HOLDINGS OF FI1 - SEF2EMBER 1, 1934 ALL FILE On September let, 1954, stocks of frozen fish in Canada totalled 57,302,000 lb., of which 54,687,000 lb. were frozen fresh and 2,615,000 lb. frozen smoked. These holdings were higher by 8,646,000 lb. (19 p.c.) frozen fresh, and by 195,000 lb. (8 p.c.) frozen smoked than those at August 1st, Compared with September let, 1953, figures they are lower by 5,497,000 lb. (9 p.c.) frozen fresh. and by 27,000 lb. (1 p.c.) frozen smoked. SEA FI COD Stocks of frozen cod totalled 9,910,000 lb., comprising 8,152,000 lb. frozen fresh and 1,758,000 lb. frozen smoked. The apparent net increase during August was 180,000 lb. (2 p.c.) as compared with a similar movement of 338,000 lb. in August, The quantity reported as having been frozen during august was 6,357,000 lb. Stocks of haddock amounted to 4,523,000 lb., 4025,000 lb, being frozen fresh and 198,000 lb. frozen smoked. These holdings were 172,000 lb. (4 p.c.) higher than last month, and ,000 lb. (54 p.c.) higher than those at the same date last year. There were 1,624,000 lb. reported as having been frozen in August, SALMON Frozen salmon stocks at September 1st, 1954, were 6,023, 000 lb. as compared with 7,750,000 lb. last year and 4,570,000 lb. last month. The apparent net increase during August was 1.5 million pounds as compared with a similar movement of 3.2 million pounds during the same month of SEA HERRING Stocks of frozen herring were reported as being 4,887,000 lb., consisting of 4,432,000 lb. frozen fresh and 455,000 lb. frozen smoked (kippers). Last year at the same date the combined figure was 9,912,000 lb. This month's figures indicate an increase of 854,000 lb. (21 p.c.) over last month's total. The quantity frozen during Anguat was 1,556,000 lb. OER SEA FI SR Other frozen sea fish stocks amounted to 31,959,000 lb., reported as 31,780, 000 lb. fresh and 179,000 lb. smoked. All other sea fish frozen during August totalled 10,594,000 lb. INLAND FI SH On September let there were 4,135,000 lb. of inland fish in storage, a decrease of 37,000 lb. (1 p.c.) from last year. Freezings during August amounted to 934,000 lb.
