2 Race 2 - VRC-CRV Cup Tour Trophy metres: Show A Star - after receiving a report from the Compliance Assurance Team Stewards, and after taking evidence from Simon Morrish, trainer of Show A Star, and Dr Grace Forbes, General Manager of RV Veterinary Services, acting under the provisions of AR178AB(2), Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the gelding at 11.57am. Stewards reasonably suspected that Show A Star had been injected on the near side of the neck sometime within one clear day of todays scheduled race. Pre-race urine and blood samples were taken from the gelding and the inquiry into the matter was adjourned to a time and date to be fixed. All successful bets on horses prior to 11.57am are subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket: win bets - 48 cents, place bets (for winner) - 34 cents, place bets (for 2 nd ) - 35 cents and place bets (for 3 rd ) - 45 cents. Killarney Kid - late withdrawal on veterinary advice at 12.12pm when found to be lame in the near foreleg and will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. All monies bet for a win and/or place and concession betting on Killarney Kid. Race 5 - A R Creswick Series Final metres: Highland Beat - began awkwardly. Hay Bale - began awkwardly. Invincible Al - rider Luke Nolen said that with the slow tempo in the early and middle stages, his mount pulled hard and for this reason failed to finish off. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Overstep - rider Craig Newitt reported that his mount has had a long preparation and may be due for the spelling paddock. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities and the stable confirmed the filly would now be spelled. Mistoffelees - rider Jye McNeil reported his mount was at the end of its preparation and trainer Kevin Bodey confirmed that the gelding would now be spelled. Im Telling Ya - rider Noel Callow reported it was not his intention to be forward however the gelding over-raced in the early and middle stages and he found himself there. Rider Brendon McCoull was fined $750 under the provisions of AR137A(5)(a)(ii) for using his whip nine times prior to the 100m, which is four times more than permitted; in assessing penalty Stewards took into account his excellent record and his overall whip use during the race. Count Da Vinci (NZ) - held up from the 500m until gaining clear running approaching the 200m. Strike Force - rider Michael Dee could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. Serveur - began awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with Simply Splashing. Simply Splashing - bumped at the start. Hampered near the 1100m. What A Shock (NZ) - began awkwardly, shifted out and inconvenienced First Approach. Raced three wide without cover. First Approach - inconvenienced at the start. Commenced to over-race in the early and middle stages and got its head up and had to be checked off the heels of Urban Ruler near the 1200m. Balcazar - began awkwardly. Commenced to over-race near the 1100m and in doing so shifted in across the heels of Trump This resulting in Simply Splashing, which was racing to its inside, being hampered. Willi Willi - after being marginally slow to begin was then inconvenienced by First Approach. Deadly Choices - over-raced in the early and middle stages. Cannot Be Serios (NZ) - raced four wide without cover. Rider Dwayne Dunn could offer no explanation. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Jaminzah - rider Craig Newitt stated his mount felt amiss. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trump This - post race endoscopy detected a degree of internal exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage that may have affected the geldings racing performance and a veterinary clearance is required prior to racing again. Thomas Sadler (Urban Ruler) - pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a), the carelessness being that near the 1400m he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of First Approach resulting in that gelding having to be steadied to avoid the heels of Urban Ruler. Thomas Sadler had his licence to ride in races

6 suspended for a period to commence at midnight July 8 th and to expire at midnight July 17 th, a total of nine race meetings (two metropolitan, seven provincial). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account his guilty plea and that the carelessness was in the low range. Thomas Sadler (Urban Ruler) - found guilty of a charge of improper riding under the provisions of AR137(a), the improper riding being that near the 800m he rode his mount in and thereby forced Kaptive Hero in onto the heels of Deadly Choices resulting in Kaptive Hero being checked for several strides. Thomas Sadler had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period to commence at midnight July 8 th and to expire at midnight August 7 th, a period of one calendar month and is to be served concurrently with his careless riding suspension. Race 8 - MILDURA TRUCK CENTRE ISUZU BM58 HANDICAP metres: Purrcolate - trainer Raymond Gard advised that the gelding pulled up with tightness in its shoulder and he believes it jarred up due to the track conditions. The gelding will have a few quiet days and will continue on with its preparation.
