The guys did good things in all three areas today, and I think our guys continued what they have done in the past few weeks, and that is to strike first. 6 GOPHER COACHING STAFF HEAD COACH BRANDON EGGUM Brandon Eggum completed his first season as the Gophers head coach in after spending the previous five seasons serving as the program s head assistant coach. This is Eggum's 17th on the wrestling team staff. Prior to assuming an assistant coach role in 2004, Eggum served as the team s strength and conditioning coordinator ( ). Following a decorated career as a Gopher wrestler, Eggum joined the staff in and has since helped train and develop nine individual national champions, 27 individual conference champs and 66 All-Americans. The team success during that time has also been remarkable, a run which has included all three of the program s national titles, five Big Ten championships and seven National crowns. Since joining the staff, Eggum has played a part in national title runs by Luke Becker, Jared Lawrence, Dustin Schlatter and Jayson Ness, as well as two-time champions Damion Hahn, Cole Konrad and Tony Nelson. All seven of those young men also won Big Ten titles with Eggum on staff, but the list of Big Ten champs during Eggum s tenure also includes: Garrett Lowney, Owen Elzen, Ryan Lewis, Leroy Vega, Jacob Volkmann, Mack Reiter, C.P. Schlatter, Roger Kish, Mike Thorn, Kevin Steinhaus, Dylan Ness and Chris Dardanes. The list of All-Americans under Eggum s watch goes on even longer. Prior to his coaching career, Eggum was a four-time letterwinner for the Gophers from 1997 to As a sophomore, Eggum earned an All-America certificate at 177 pounds. In 1999, he bumped up to 184 pounds, where he would place second and third at the next two NCAA Championships, respectively. Eggum also won the Big Ten title at his weight both of those seasons and helped Minnesota win the 1999 Big Ten championship, the program s first since Eggum s name still litters the program s record books as well. His 115 career wins and his.833 career winning percentage (115-23) are both among 25 best in Gopher history, while his 61 dual victories is tied for 12th. As impressive as Eggum was on the mat, he also stood out in the classroom as a four-time Academic All-Big Ten selection. He graduated from the University of Minnesota in May 2000, with a B.S. in Applied Economics. A native of Sidney, Mont., Eggum currently resides in Stillwater, Minn., with his wife Katrina, son Greyson, and two daughters, Lillian and Monroe. He wrestled a pair of top-five opponents in No. 1 Seth Gross and No. 4 Kaid Brock, losing by decision in both matches. After the Oklahoma State dual, McKee took a trip across the Atlantic, and took on the U23 World Championships in Poland. This resulted in McKee not participating in the Cliff Keen Invite. A week later, down in Florida at the South Beach, McKee stumbled against then No. 19 Zach Sherman by decision. He followed up that loss with three bonus point wins, including the second fastest pin in school history against Jacob Nicholson of Binghamton (13 seconds). McKee did not return to action after the South Beach Dual until three weeks later against Michigan. McKee had sat out with an illness, and when he returned, it didn't get any easier with No. 5 Stevan Micic, who is now No. 2 at 133. McKee fell in that bout, but since then has been rolling. He has picked up two ranked wins since his fourth loss of the season, and has not scored less than seven points in any of his last six matches. NCAA Qualifer ( 17) Six-time Fargo National Champion 8

Pfarr bounced back after his rough patch with his highest scoring performance of the season against Fresno State, which also started his best stretch of the season. Pfarr went on to win six straight wins, including a win over Brandon Womack of Cornell, who was an All-American last season. After his streak, Pfarr ran into a real tough patch of his season. Wrestling at three different weights in one season. Krone began the season at 174-pounds and finished fourth at the Daktronics dropping to current 174-pound starter, Chris Pfarr. Krone continued to wrestle at 174-pounds when he took part in extra matches at the South Beach, where he combined to score 36 points, while allowing just six. Krone then was thrust into the starting lineup at 197-pounds against Michigan after injuries were sustained by Bobby Steveson. Krone had a strong debut in the weight class, but ultimetly fell 4-3. It wouldn't get easier for Krone at 197-pounds, he fell to No. 10 Shakur Rasheed of Penn State on the road. Krone stuck with it though, and eventually earned his first win at the weight against Northwestern with an impressive move at the buzzer to earn the 8-4 decision. After that win, the Gophers took on rival Iowa, where Krone was moved to 184-pounds for the first time this season. Krone immediately showed why he might belong in the weight class with a 12-2 major decision over No. 20 Mitch Bowman. Krone would fall in a tough match to No. 9 Nicholas Gravina, but ended the regular season on a high note with a pin at Rider. Krone will make his second appearance in the Big Ten Tournament. Krone took part in 2016 at 165-pounds for the Gophers as a redshirt freshman.
