These Airmodules consist of 6 inflated parts supplied with permanent air-flow by a new system of pumps and tubes. Because of this new permanent inflation the modules offer constantly the same performance and neither change in temperature nor change in weather conditions have any effects on the air-pressure in the modules. The Airmodules are made of heavy-duty reinforced PVC, the material is flame-retarding and weather-resistant and guarantees long lifetime. The modules are easy to install and offer a perfect performance. The SD I consists of a foam-part and a flame-retarding, heavy duty PVC-cover. The foam-part is made of 3 different foam-types - the foam-bars and foam-boards care in combination with the air-chambers for perfect energyabsorption. The modules must be installed directly in front of rigid obstacles and a special front skirt helps to avoid undersliding. 13 ALPINA MotorsportsF 13 fim Type A Safety Barrier The ALPINA F1 Safety system FIA homologated Safety Barrier Accepts High Speed Impacts Monte Carlo The Air Module Safety System is set to revolutionise Formula 1 circuit safety with the release of its Alpina F1 safety crash bar rier. The Alpina F1 system could save expensive modifications to some of the world s classic circuits by giving the authorities a true safety barrier that can meet the stringent safety demands of today s motorsports. Research had shown that conventional tyre barriers, even of the multilayered Zolder type, offer no absorption over 48 km/h. High speed impact testing proved tyre barriers totally compressed at speeds ranging from 15 to 48 km/h, allowing the car to contact the wall. The main principle behind the deve lopment of the ALPINA F1 system is the absorption of energy and a limi ted deceleration of the driver. Unlike current crash barriers, the Air Module absorbs energy, by trans ferring and exhausting air with the objective to annihilate kinetic energy. Comprised of six separate chambers, the barrier grants an even deceleration, removing the sudden impact spike that causes severe injuries. The ALPINA F1 system has been evaluated by the Expert Advisory Group set up to instigate a number of safety reforms including the installation of a new safety barrier system. The Air-Module can be installed quickly as a permanent safety barrier that accepts numerous high speed crashes. lt recovers within approximately 10 seconds and is ready for the next impact. The ALPINA F1 is designed to replace or supplement tyre walls on the thtical corners found on most circuits. For non permanent circuits where space is very limited the ALPINA F1 is the perfect safety barrier. 14 ALPINA MotorsportS 14 SPECIAL Safety-Products The ALPINA TYRE INSERTS Improving performance The ALPINA Tyre Inserts are polyethylene tubes and have been approved in compliance with the standard FIA Because of their special technical details they achieve a substantial improvement of energy absorption their appropriate stiffness helps to absorb a proportion of the kinetic energy, which improves the performance of the whole tyre barrier system. For easy handling the Tyre Inserts are equipped with a belt, which allows fast installation and removal. They are weather resistant and guarantee a long life time.
