4 BRECON MOTOR CLUB EPYNT HILLCLIMBS SUPPORTED BY BRIAN DENNIS MOTORSPORT SUPPLEMENTARY REGULATIONS 1. Announcement. Brecon Motor Club will promote a National B Hillclimb on Saturday 16th June 2018 and Sunday 17th June 2018 at Mynydd Epynt, near Brecon, Powys. 2. Jurisdiction. The event will be held under the General Regulations of the Motor Sports Association (incorporating the International Sporting Code of the FIA), these supplementary regulations and any written instructions the organisers may issue for the event. 3. Permit. MSA Permit numbers: 16th June 2018 TBA 17th June 2018 TBA 4. Eligibility. The event is open to all members of affiliated clubs of the WAMC and members of the Porsche Club Great Britain, TVR Car Club, HRCR, Volvo Owners Club, Triumph TR Register and HSA and must hold a valid 2018 MSA Competition Licence appropriate to the event entered. 5. Championships.

The TVR Car Club Speed Championship 2018 Permit no. CH2018/S074 (Grade D) iii. The HRCR Speed Series Hill Climb & Sprint Championship 2018 Permit no. CH2018/S069 (Grade D) v. The Revington TR/TR Register Sprint & Hillclimb Championship 2018 CH2018/S015 (Grade C) For the 17th June Event i. The Trident Engineering Welsh Sprint and Hillclimb Championship. Permit no. 6 6. Time Schedule for both events. The event format will be as follows: Sign-on Marshals Drivers Scrutineering Drivers briefing Convoy drive of course First Practice First timed run 08:30 09:30 08:30 09:30 08:30 10:00 09:45 10:00 10:30 13:30 Any driver not signed on by 09:30 may be excluded. The drivers briefing will take place in the Paddock car park. 7. Track Details. The length of the course is 1320 metres consisting of one sweeping left hand bend, a long tightening right hand bend, two chicanes and a straight over a brow into the finish just after. Height gained is approximately 130 metres, an average gradient of 8%. Competitors will be kept in a holding area approximately 500 metres past the finishing line before being sent back down the hill non-competitively. 8. Classes Standard Car Class (SC) Class SC1 Standard Car Class up to 1400cc Class SC2 Standard Car Class 1401 to 2000cc (i) Description A category designed to provide low budget competition for newcomers to the sport or those with limited funds. Other than those detailed below, no other modifications are permitted.

7 (ii) Eligible Vehicles Road-Going Series Production Cars Saloons and Sports Cars produced in quantities of not less than 5000 per annum of unitary ferrous construction, two wheel drive and up to 2 litre engine capacity. Competitors are reminded of the first paragraph of J.5.1 It is the competitor s responsibility to ensure that the car is eligible. Any replacement components fitted must be to Standard Part/Standard Pattern Part. (iii). Cars must compete in all aspects in road legal condition. Fleet insurance policies and/or trade plates are not permitted. Modifications permitted (i) Roll cages may be fitted but must not accept or assist any direct suspension loads. (ii) Additional safety harness may be fitted but the original seat belts must remain. (iii) The driver s seat may be replaced with a Competition Seat. (iv) Brake friction material may be uprated. (v) Wheels and tyres Standard wheels and tyres from List 1A only may be used. Pre 1976 Class 9 Road going Series Production and Specialist Car Class ( Period defined non Rally ) Cars must be manufactured before 1976 and comply with the 2018 MSA Technical Regulations. Stage Rally Cars Class SR1 Stage Rally Cars up to 1400cc Class SR2 Stage Rally Cars 1401cc to 2000cc Class SR3 Stage Rally Cars over 2001cc

9 Car in SR classes are not required to be taxed. Road Rally Cars Class RR1 Road Rally Cars up to 1400cc Class RR2 Road Rally cars 1401cc to 2000cc Class RR3 Road Rally Cars over 2001cc Cars in Road Rally class must be taxed and Mot d. The TVR Speed Championship Classes TVR A TVR B Lotus 7 Classes Classes L1 L7 as per championship regulations. Technical Regulations Note 1: All cars must comply with S Note 2: All cars with engines running on diesel fuel will be subject to a 30% capacity reduction. E.g. 2000cc diesel engines equate to 1400cc and will be eligible for class A1 or B1 according to their classification. The usual 40% uplift for turbocharged engines will apply Note 3: Series Production Cars are defined as cars complying with S , , Specialist Production Cars are defined as cars complying with S , , Modified Limited Production Cars are defined as cars complying with S.12.1, ,

10 Modified Specialist Production Cars are defined as cars complying with S.12.2, , , Sports Libre Cars must comply with S.14 and Racing cars with S.15. Rally Cars must comply with R AND S.14. Included in the latter Category would be Group B cars, any cars without the original engine block of the model entered, and car with a transmission layout not as originally specified for that model, or a Specialist Rally Car without an engine complying with S They need not be taxed. Note 4: Entries for Hybrid or Electric Vehicles will not be accepted. 9. Practice & Event Runs. Competitors will be able to drive the course beforehand in convoy as well as being allowed two practice runs as per S Competitors are also reminded of S.9.2.2, only the driver may be in the car during competition and practice. 10. Competitor Numbering. Competitors must supply competition numbers as per S and must be affixed to each front door of the competing vehicle. Drivers of shared cars must ensure that the correct number is displayed for each run. Second drivers will share the same number as first drivers but must add an additional number 7 before the number and must be supplied by the competitor. 11. Paddock. Space in the paddock will be extremely limited and competitors are urged to follow marshal s instructions on

11 arrival. There will be a separate grassed area for parking trailers which must be used. Extra vigilance must be taken to ensure that all persons present do not stray from the paddock and hillclimb area as there will be live firing taking place on the ranges thatweekend. Further warnings will be issued with the final instructions. The venue is also adjacent to an assault course which is strictly out of bounds. Any driver or person associated with the driver who ignores this warning will be excluded from the event. 12. Awards. Awards will be presented for first in each class and for FTD, fastest time of the day. Further awards may be given at the organisers discretion. 13. Entries. The maximum entry for the event is 90, the minimum 50. Classes may be amalgamated if no more than three are received. No car may be entered in more than one class or be driven by more than two drivers. A driver may drive a maximum of two cars, which must be in different classes. Should the minimum number of entries not be reached the organisers reserve the right to cancel the event. The entries open on the publication of these regulations and close for day one on 16 t h June and day two 17 t h June. All regulations, final instructions and results will be issued electronically. Please contact the organisers if you need printed versions. All entries must be made on the official form and accompanied by the entry fee. An online entry system is available at where the entry fee can be paid by BACS. The entry fee will be 95 (ninety five pounds) with

12 competitors wishing to compete on both days eligible for a discount of 10 ie 180 for both days. Entries withdrawn before the event will be subject to a 10 administration fee. 14. Officials. For both events unless stated. These will be published in accordance with H.35. Any protest or appeal must be lodged in accordance with C Starting Order.

13 Competitors will run in class and numerical order. Cars will start at intervals dictated by the track licence. Competitors must be ready to start their runs and comply with instructions issued by the paddock marshals during the day. Second drivers will be run in a batch after all classes have run. 17. Drivers. Throughout practice and competition all drivers must wear clothing, helmet and goggles and gloves complying with S All these items will be inspected at scrutineering. 18. Timing. Competitors will start in their own time on receipt of the start signal. The method of timing will be automatic. Timing starts when the vehicle breaks the light beam and finishes on completion of the run when the vehicle breaks the light beam. Each competitor will be allowed a minimum of two timed runs with the fastest timed run of the day to count. A timing strut is Mandatory for all vehicles as per S Red Flags. A red flag means STOP, if red flagged stop as soon as possible and await further instructions from a marshal. 20. Penalties. There will be two chicanes sited on the course which will be located next to marshals posts. These marshals will be empowered as Judges of Fact. Any competitor whose car makes contact with these chicanes will be penalised 30 seconds for each offence. 21. Animals.

16 Health and Safety Competitor Guidance Notes Welcome to the Brecon Motor Club Epynt Hillclimbs. We wish you an enjoyable and safe weekend of motor sport. We wish to ensure that as far as is practicable, the health, safety and welfare of our competitors, marshals, volunteers and officials are protected. We ask for your help and co-operation in making the weekend safe for all. General: Everyone should take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of other people who may be affected by our acts or omissions as far as reasonably possible. NO CYCLING in the Paddock. CHILDREN MUST be accompanied by an adult at all times when they are in the paddock. A SPEED LIMIT OF 5 mph is the maximum in the Paddock. In the event of FIRE or OTHER EMERGENCY, instructions will be given to go to the assembly point near the signing on building. Incidents. Please follow marshal s instructions. Stop if you see a red flag. DO NOT DRIVE DOWN HILL unless permission has been given by hill control to the marshal. Trailers: All trailers must be parked on the meadow at the rear of the paddock. Keep your paddock area clear of trip hazards and competitors are advised to keep all dangerous equipment and machinery in safe working condition and only allow a competent person to use the equipment. You are advised to keep all equipment secure. All competing vehicles must use a ground sheet in the paddock. Storage and use of Petroleum Spirit

17 All petroleum spirit must be stored in metal containers, complying with the relevant British Standard, away from any source of ignition. All containers must be indelibly marked Petroleum Spirit Highly Flammable. All empty containers must be removed from the venue after the Event. All vehicle refuelling is to take place in the open air. A no smoking ban must be enforced by the person in charge of the refuelling process. When REFUELLING ensure that the area is as clear as possible and that there is NO SMOKING or other source of ignition. The driver must be out of the car, the engine stopped and have a fire extinguisher at the ready. Any spillage of fuel, oil, brake fluid or coolant etc. should be reported to a Paddock Marshal. Spill Kits: Contact an official if a spill kit is required. Waste All waste oil must be removed from site. Waste tyres and empty petrol/oil containers must not be left at the venue. Competitors are urged to take any other form of waste with them when they leave the venue. First Aid To call the first aid or emergency services contact any marshal, official or member of the venue management. As the venue is an operational military site the emergency services must be called via the Sennybridge Operations Room. Public Safety Competitors and entrants should be aware that the Paddock is open to the general public and should act in a manner so as not to put either themselves or any other person at risk from injury. Incident Reporting All accidents where any person sustains injury or where damage to property occurs must be reported immediately to a club official.
