Each runs on tyres from official partner MRF. APPROX COSTS Base car: 6,000 Full season: 15,000 POINTS AND REWARDS Points are awarded in each of the Heats, where grids are determined by ballot rather than qualifying times, and the highest scoring drivers from those races start at the back of the grid for the Final. Championship points are awarded on the basis of etc down to 20 points for 18th place. Awards are presented to the first three in each Final. There are also individual classes for Masters and Rookies. These are open wheel single seaters that used to race in championships all over the world from 1962, through until They were named 5000 as this denoted the maximum cubic capacity of the engines allowed to partake. Manufactures typically included: McLaren, Eagle, March, Lola and Lotus. The race format will be a 12 minute qualifying session, with 2 15 minute races. The Anglo American series is open to F5000 Cars built and raced between 1st January 1967 and 31st December Cars must be in original specification with only the addition of current safety requirements. Regardless of period specification all cars must run flat bottomed. The modified saloons, as their name suggests, are allowed extensive modifications. This includes lightweight body panels, highly tuned engines, special gearboxes and slick tyres. The quick cars have over 500bhp, although the turbo charged runners have to run a restrictor. Slick racing tyres are allowed along with some aerodynamic aids. Base cars cost upwards of 20,000 and a racing season will be around 10,000. The Tin Tops are much more restricted, with very few modifications permitted. They must use treaded tyres and retain more production parts. However, around Brands Hatch they can compete with their modified brethren, so expect plenty of close battles. The very first Formula Ford race was held here at Brands Hatch in 1967, and these junior single-seater cars have entertained ever since. The Champion of Brands was a popular single circuit series in the 1980s before being resurrected by MSVR and James Beckett Motorsport at the start of the 2010 season. SPECIFICATION Space frame single seater racing cars, powered by the Ford Kent 1600cc engine conforming to the 2018 Formula Ford 1600 Technical Regulations as laid down by the Ford Motor Company, and Champion of Brands series regulations issued by MotorSport Vision Racing.
