High school athletics are an effective tool in teaching young people the skills that will help them succeed in life. Being involved in athletics, however, requires much of those who participate, through their commitment of time and energy. Therefore, the Academic Resource Center (ARC) is available to Skyline student-athletes to provide opportunities for these active young people to grow academically. Services offered through the ARC include eligibility monitoring, computer lab instruction, peer tutoring in all subject areas, and mentor guided educational planning. High school can be challenging, but with a game plan and a commitment to excellence, we know the student-athlete can win both on and off the field! GAMING VOLUNTEERS NEEDED IN MAY. Are you a night owl? Want to earn money for your student-athlete's fees or team? We need volunteers on May 8-10 at 11pm. Sign up here. Students: Don't forget your ID! Did you know that all Ann Arbor high school students receive free admission to all sporting events at Skyline, Pioneer and Huron if they show their ID at the gate? More Photos from This Week Skyline's Ben Millunchick in the JV game against Toledo St. John. We want your news! Please help us improve our communication and spread the word about Skyline Athletics. Do you have an interesting story about your team? Does your team have an accomplishment that deserves celebration? Has an individual athlete reached a milestone?
2 of 9 4/26/2016 9:16 AM Let us know about it and we will let others know through the SABC Eagle Blast. And don't forget about special events, fundraisers or competitions. Please send your information (with photos and internet link if applicable) to Erica Fitzgerald at EFitzgerald@bsdd.com by 8:00pm on Saturdays for inclusion in the next e-blast. Erica is a Skyline parent, SABC board member, and business attorney. FORD DRIVE FOR YOUR SCHOOL FUNDRAISER ON MAY 14. SABC is partnering with ASAN (All Senior All Night) for the annual Ford Drive For Your School fundraiser on Saturday, May 14, 11am-2pm. For each driver, Ford will donate $20 to the school (half to ASAN and half to SABC). This fundraiser has the potential to net $6,000 total for these two programs to share! SABC will offer 50% of its share as an incentive bonus for the two Skyline Teams generating the most participating drivers: 75% (up to $1,125) will go to the team that brings in the most drivers, and 25% (up to $375) will go to the team that brings in the second-most drivers. Each driver will be asked to designate a Skyline team when signing up for a test drive. Drivers do not need to be a student-athlete or a parent of a student-athlete. They must simply show their support for your team. We need volunteers at the event to register drivers. Each volunteer will be able to designate a team to count towards the incentive! Please contact Kam Chicoine (ASAN) at kamchicoine@hotmail.com or Anne Stevens (SABC) at anne_stevens@hotmail.com with questions or to volunteer. Looking for an Easy Fundraising Option? The Ann Arbor PTSO Thrift Shop has several fundraising opportunities for teams. Check out their website for program descriptions and instructions. Looking to get involved with the SABC this year? SABC is looking for volunteers to join the communications, sponsorship and finance committees, as well as volunteers for concessions, the winter gala and the golf outing. Please anne_stevens@hotmail.com for more information. Stay Connected SABC ELECTIONS. Do you want to get more involved in the SABC next year? The SABC will hold elections for the year at our last SABC meeting of the year on May 16. Baseball JV sweeps Pioneer to provide bright spot in Skyline Baseball's week Strong pitching in game 1 by Matt Hagan set the tone for JV Baseball this week as Skyline swept Pioneer in all three matches. Hagan pitched a complete 7 innings in game 1 to take the win (13-2) with 5 strikeouts and 17 first pitch strikes, inspiring strong performances on offense and defense. In games 2 and 3 (13-1 and 13-9), Skyline's contributions from Jack Winger, Matt Bacon, and Andrew Fisher finished up the series with victories. As MLive's Team of the Week, Varsity was downed by Pioneer both home and away, but a solid pitching performance in Game 2 by sophomore pitcher Eamon Horwedel (photo below), who went 6 innings with 8 strikeouts, will give Skyline momentum going into the Saline series next week. Read MLive's coverage of Skyline baseball here and here.
4 of 9 4/26/2016 9:16 AM Thanks to all the Skyline families who supported our fundraiser at Buffalo Wild Wings this past week! Women's Water Polo Skyline Women's Water Polo went 3-1 last weekend at Saline's Hornet Invite with victories over Seaholm (4-3), Dexter (7-4), and Huron (3-4) and a loss to Saline (1-6). Leading the offense with great performances were Miranda Stuart, Maya Taleb- Bendiab, Maggie Stevens, and Maddie McAdams. Allie Milot had a strong weekend in goal. The team faced off with cross-town rivals Pioneer and Huron this week, suffering losses to both teams (2-9 v. Pioneer, 2-3 v. Huron). Despite the losses, the Eagles have been showing vast improvements every week of competition and are setting their sights on the district tournament next month. This week, the

6 of 9 4/26/2016 9:16 AM Skyline Men's Lacrosse has two GIANT home games this week on the upper track field. On Tuesday, they host #3 Detroit Country Day at 6pm, and on Thursday, they host Pioneer at 6pm in a rivalry game. Come support your Eagles! Last week saw the men's lacrosse team lose a heartbreaker at Saline in double overtime, beat Lincoln 22-0, and lose another close one at Brighton. Both losses saw strong second half comebacks by the Eagles, led by big games offensively from Ethan Harding, Grant Marshall (No. 5, above), and Nate Genyk, and a strong defensive push led by Tyler Tribble and goalie Jacob McGuckin. Women's Tennis Skyline Women's Tennis opened its season with a win over Lincoln High School on Wednesday. The girls swept all four singles flights and four doubles matches. It was a great way to start the season. This week the girls are looking at some tough competition against Monroe High School and cross-town rival Pioneer. Softball Vote for Skyline Softball to be MLive's team of the week here. Skyline Varsity Softball defeated rival Pioneer in the 8th after a late game wild pitch, 5-4, last Monday. In the second game of that double-header, the Eagles jumped to an early lead on Pioneer and captured a 14-4 victory.
7 of 9 4/26/2016 9:16 AM On Wednesday, the Eagles outlasted Ypsilanti in a high-scoring affair and won 13-8, then fell behind in the sixth inning in the second game in a 10-7 loss.
