Jason Forjet (1-1, 2.20) is slated to make the start on the mound for San Jose tonight. After the current series versus High Desert, the Giants continue their homestand with a threegame set against the Bakersfield Blaze beginning on Monday. San Jose picked-up one victory in three games at High Desert to start the trip before splitting a four-game series at Inland Empire. The split versus the 66ers snapped a streak of six consecutive road series losses for the Giants dating back to the opening week of the season. San Jose has still not won a road series this year. The Giants scored four runs all with two outs in the top of the second inning en route to a 5-1 victory over the host Inland Empire 66ers last Tuesday to earn a split of the four-game series. Ty Ross (2-for-4, 2 2B, RBI) doubled twice and drove home a run while Brian Ragira (1-for-3, 2B, 2 RBI) produced a key two-rbi double during the second-inning rally to lead the offensive attack. Jesus Galindo, Hunter Cole, Ryder Jones and Ben Turner also finished with two hits apiece. Starting pitcher Keury Mella notched the win after limiting the Sixers to one run and four hits over 5 1/3 innings. Mella walked three and struck out six. Jake Smith, Ian Gardeck and Dan Slania then combined for 3 2/3 innings of scoreless relief. Streaking At Muni The Giants enter tonight s contest having won a season-high seven consecutive home games. San Jose posted a 7-0 record on their most recent homestand (May 19-25) earning series sweeps of Modesto and Rancho Cucamonga. The Giants are batting.286 as a team to go with a 2.77 ERA at home this season (.247 AVG, 4.61 ERA on the road). San Jose has won nine out of their last ten games at Municipal Stadium (since starting the year 4-10 at home). Arroyo Returns Shortstop Christian Arroyo (oblique) was activated off the disabled list last Saturday. In four games since his return, Arroyo is 6-for-19 (.316) with two doubles and an RBI. He was originally placed on the DL on April 16. Arroyo, who turned 20 last Saturday, was San Francisco s first round pick in the 2013 draft (25th overall selection). In 11 games this season, he s batting.319 with six doubles, two home runs, six RBI s and a.934 OPS. Arroyo entered the year ranked as the #10 prospect in the Giants organization according to Baseball America. Won 10 Of 14 Since falling to a season-high 14 games under.500 on May 18 (12-26), the Giants have won 10 out of their last 14. Cole Ranks Second In Hitting After picking-up seven hits over his last three games, Hunter Cole has raised his season batting average to.342 second in the California League. Cole is batting at a.386 clip (29-for-75) over his last 19 games. He has 11 multi-hit games during the stretch. Additionally, Cole has hit three home runs in his last nine games after not having homered for the entire season. Cole joined the Giants on April 22 after beginning the year with Class-A Augusta. With RISP The Giants are batting.282 this season with runners in scoring position second in the league (Stockton.290). Winning The Close Ones The Giants are 4-0 in their last four one-run games (after starting the season 3-10). Beede Promoted; Jose Reyes Joins Starting Rotation 2014 first round draft pick Tyler Beede was promoted to Double- A Richmond today. In nine starts with the San Jose Giants this season, Beede logged a 2-2 record and had a 2.24 ERA. The right-hander struck out 37 and walked just nine over 52 1/3 innings. Beede, who currently ranks third in the California League in ERA, surrendered one or no earned runs in six out of his nine starts. In a corresponding roster move, pitcher Jose Reyes has joined the Giants from Class-A Augusta and is expected to start Friday s game. Reyes was 4-1 with a South Atlantic League leading 1.36 ERA in eight starts for the GreenJackets this season. The 24-year old right-hander amassed 45 strikeouts with just 11 walks in 46 1/3 innings while limiting the opposition to a.207 batting average. On The Mound The Giants are second in the California League with a 3.73 ERA. Individually, Chase Johnson (5th, 2.68) and Keury Mella (7th, 2.89) rank among the top seven in the league in ERA. Dan Slania leads the league with 10 saves.
