2 HEAD COACH CORY MEE Co r y Mee 11th Year at Toledo Notre Dame 92 *** 2010 MAC Coach of the Year *** Cory Mee enters his 11th season as the head baseball coach at the University of Toledo. A veteran of 21 years of collegiate coaching, Mee and his staff have steadily improved the Toledo baseball program to an annual contender for a Mid-American Conference championship. Development is where Mee has made his mark as a college coach. As an assistant coach at both Notre Dame and Michigan State, Mee built a reputation as an outstanding instructor and teacher of the fundamentals of the game. Under his tutelage, almost 60 players have developed into professionals. It is not surprising then, that his focus at Toledo is on the development of each individual player in his program. In 2012, Toledo s player development came to fruition as the Midnight Blue & Gold captured its first MAC West Division title in school history. The Rockets have qualified for the MAC Tournament a school-record fiveconsecutive seasons and six times overall under Mee. UT has also finished in the top two in the division on three occasions in the last five seasons. Individually, 16 Rockets have earned All-MAC honors on 22 occasions. In addition, a quintet of Toledo players have garnered All-Mideast Region accolades. Off the field, the Rockets have been equally as successful in the classroom under Mee, posting team grade-point averages above 3.0 in 17 of the last 21 semesters. In his tenure, a total of 17 Toledo players have been selected Academic All-MAC on 27 occasions. In addition, six Toledo players have received first-team all-district recognition on nine occasions. Spearheading the academic surge have been Scott Boley and Ben Hammer, who earned spots on the second team of the Academic All-America Baseball Team in 2007 and 2013, respectively. Mee has also set new expectations for his program by upgrading the schedule. In his 10 years, the Rockets non-conference slate has included schools from the Southeastern Conference (SEC), Big East, Big Ten, Big 12 and Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) to name a few. Mee, 44, was named the Rockets head coach on July 10, 2003, becoming the 11th coach in the program s history.
