Friday s series opener marks the 125th meeting all-time between the Rebels and Green Wave, with Ole Miss leading the series overall, Ole Miss and Tulane last met as part of the 2016 NCAA Oxford Regional, where the Green Wave walked away with a 6-5 victory. The Rebels are coming off an 8-6 win over Memphis on Tuesday, a game that saw a combined 25 hits and 11 pitchers used. Ole Miss is looking for its third 7-0 start in the past six years after the 2013 squad and last year s team began 7-0. With the second release of the national polls, Ole Miss remained as high as No. 9 (D1Baseball), with four of the major polls slotting the Rebels No. 16 or better. Pitching was the key to success last weekend vs. Winthrop, as the Rebels allowed only one earned run and struck out 39. The Rebels three starters -- Ryan Rolison, Brady Feigl and James McArthur -- combined for only 11 hits surrendered and 25 Ks with one run (unearned) allowed in 16 innings. On the back end of the staff, junior closer Dallas Woolfolk has two saves already which leads the league and is third nationally. Woolfolk is up to sixth on Ole Miss all-time career saves list, one off tying for fifth place with Jake Morgan. Rolison is coming off SEC Pitcher of the Week honors after striking out a career-high 12 with only one hit allowed in five innings. It marked the most strikeouts in a Rebel opener since Lance Lynn had 12 back in the 2008 opener. Rolison enters the weekend tied for the league lead in Ks and is third in opposing batting average (.063). Senior Will Stokes is up to a tie for fifth on the Ole Miss career apperances list with 74 after making two relief outings thus far. As a team Ole Miss is fourth in the SEC in ERA (1.75), T-3rd in Ks (51) and fourth in walks allowed (12). The Rebels capitalized in clutch situations last weekend, going 10-for-16 in two-out RBI. Through four games, nine players have made their Rebel debuts, with four of those earning starts across the infield. PROJECTED STARTING LINEUP POSITION PLAYERS Pos. No. Name Yr. B/T GP-GS Avg. 5 GAMES SCOUTING TULANE Tulane heads into the weekend at 3-0 coming off a series with Wright State, a tough Horizon League team that won 38 games a year ago. The Green Wave are under the direction of second year head coach Travis Jewett. a graduate of Washington State. Tulane is coming off a season in 2017 where they went in AAC play. The Green Wave return just two position starters from that team and only one starting pitcher, welcoming in a total of 18 newcomers in 2018, nine of which are transfers. Tulane has two opponents from the SEC on its schedule this season in Ole Miss and LSU (home-and-home). The Rebels and Green Wave share five common opponents in Southern Miss, Long Beach State, LSU, New Orleans and Memphis. Similar to the Rebels, the Green Wave have 33 games on its schedule against 13 teams that participated in the NCAA Tournament within the last two years. At the plate Tulane is led by junior OF Grant Witherspoon, a preseason All-AAC selection that hit.299 in 2017 with 36 RBI and 67 hits. Sal Gozzo leads the squad through three games with a.444 clip and two RBI. Matt Rowland powered six RBI off one home run in opening weekend as the Green Wave hit.260 as a team against Wright State. A season ago Tulane hit.266 with a.437 slugging clip and.349 OBP. Tulane lost its top three hitters from a season ago, all of which hit above.300. Last weekend the Green Wave were 7-for-8 in steals after going 46-of-69 on the base paths a year ago. Of the five pitchers from a year ago that started at least eight games, Tulane returns three, while losing its two primary starters who combined for 11 of the wins. RHP Chase Solesky returns with the top ERA among starters from 2017, but came out of the bullpen last weekend. The rotation against Wright State included two newcomers in RHP Kaleb Roper (Friday s starter) and RHP Ben White, who is not expected to start this weekend. Another newcomer in last weekend s rotation, and the expected starter for this Sunday, is RHP Keagan Gillies. LHP Ross Massey is the lone returner in this weekend s projected rotation. As a staff the Green Wave totaled a 4.18 ERA with 16 strikeouts and 16 walks. Opposing hitters hit.208 against them with 20 hits in 28 IP. SERIES HISTORY Ole Miss and Tulane have met 124 times heading into the weekend with the Rebels leading the series The series began way back in 1898 with the last matchup coming two seasons ago in the NCAA Oxford Regional. The Green Wave came back to win that game in the ninth and end the Rebels postseason run, the only matchup since 2011, when the two teams last played in a three-game series. Those games also were played in Oxford, with the Rebels winning game one before dropping the final two and the series. REBEL-GREEN WAVE CONNECTIONS Tulane junior C Acy Owen, along with Ole Miss junior INF Chase Cockrell and junior RHP Colin Coates, are all transfers from Hinds CC. Cockrell is also a native of Bastrop, Louisiana, while Tulane has eight players from Louisiana on its roster. Owen, a native of Brandon, is one of two Mississippians on the Green Wave roster joining sophomore INF Jonathon Artigues, who hails from Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. Tulane head coach Travis Jewett joined the Green Wave from SEC foe Vanderbilt, where he spent four seasons, most recently as an Associate Head Coach. REBELS ON NATIONAL TV Ole Miss will play at least nine games on national television in The Rebels will play on SEC Network five times, and three times on ESPNU, with one other game featured on SEC Network s Bases Loaded Coverage. The Rebels received one first-place vote and totaled a point total of 62 in the poll, checking in behind only Arkansas and Texas A&M. WOOLFOLK TABBED PRESEASON ALL-SEC The Rebels junior closer earned a spot on the Preseason All-SEC Team, the lone Rebel on the list. The Southaven, Mississippi, native is coming off a dominant 2017 campaign in which he finished one off the school s singleseason record in saves with 12. He led the team in appearances with 26, all in relief, totaling a 2.15 ERA and 3-2 record on the mound. The righty struck out 41 and held opposing hitters to a.200 clip in 37.2 innings of action. PRESEASON HONORS? NO PROBLEM Name any preseason All-America team or preseason watch list and junior RHP Dallas Woolfolk and sophomore LHP Ryan Rolison were probably on it. The duo combined for eight different preseason All-America selections, and both landed on preseason watch lists for a pair of prestigious awards. Woolfolk enters his junior campaign as one of the top relievers nationally, therefore landing him a spot on the prestigious watch list. He is one of 52 players on the list and one of eight from the Southeastern Conference. The Southaven, Mississippi, native is the third Rebel in as many years to appear on the watch list after now senior Will Stokes was on it last year. In 2016, southpaw Wyatt Short made the preseason and midseason lists as the closer. ROLISON NAMED TO USA BASEBALL GOLDEN SPIKES AWARD WATCH LIST Rolison is the first Rebel to earn the preseason honor since Christian Trent in Rolison is one of 55 players on the preseason list, and is one of 15 players from the SEC. Of those, nine are pitchers, including Rolison. He joins a strong list of Rebel greats who also landed on the prestigious watch list, including Trent, Bobby Wahl (Oakland A s), Drew Pomeranz (Boston Red Sox), Scott Bittle, Lance Lynn (St. Louis Cardinals) and Cody Satterwhite. RETURNING REBELS Despite losing five Rebels to the MLB Draft -- the 14th consecutive year at least four Rebels were picked -- Ole Miss returns a large portion of its production offensively from last season, including eight of its 10 everyday hitters. Two of the three hitters who batted at least.300 (Nick Fortes, Will Golsan) are back in the lineup, as are six other players who heavily contributed, most of which started routinely. Of those 10 players, 73% of the hits return, as do 78% of the doubles, 53% of the home runs, and 67% of RBI. On the mound, the production returning is even greater highlighted by a strong pitching staff that ranks among the nation s best. Of the 13 pitchers who appeared last season, only four were lost, who combined accounted for 37 appearances (David Parkinson the lone starter of the departed pitchers). The southpaw threw 5.0 scoreless innings with a career-high 12 strikeouts in a 7-3 season-opening win. He led all SEC pitchers on the weekend with his 12 strikeouts, which were the most for any Ole Miss pitcher in the past two years, and the most in a season-opener since 2008 (Lance Lynn). The conference honor marks the second of Rolison s young career, after he picked up SEC Freshman of the Week honors on April 24 last season. He s the third pitcher in the last two seasons to earn pitcher of the week, after David Parkinson (March 13) and James McArthur (May 1) did it in VOICE OF THE REBELS CELEBRATING 40TH SEASON OF CALLING #REBSBSB David Kellum s journey as Ole Miss radio play-by-play announcer began way back in Then, he was a senior at Lafayette High School in Oxford. His first experience included calling a 9-7 Ole Miss win over Vanderbilt in the inaugural SEC Tournament, and he has since earned the tag Voice of the Rebels as the primary voice for baseball, football and men s basketball. The 2018 baseball season marks his 40th on the airwaves for Rebel baseball, and minus a one-year hiatus in 1985, he s been there every step of the way since. DK is tied for the second-longest tenured pxp voice in the country behind only Dave Nitz of Louisiana Tech (44 years), and three of the top six voices with at least 37 years experience are all from The Magnolia State (Jim Ellis -- Mississippi State, John Cox -- Southern Miss).

9 GAMES REBELS SWEEP WINTHROP TO OPEN 2018 The Rebels were as advertised in opening weekend, sweeping Winthrop behind the arms of a strong pitching staff, and scattered production at the plate from old and new faces alike. At the plate, Ole Miss tallied 17 runs on 30 hits as nine different Rebels had multiple hits on the weekend. Eight of the 30 were extra-base knocks, all of which came from eight different players. On the mound, the Rebels were charged with only one earned run allowing only 16 hits and five total runs. Starters Ryan Rolison, Brady Feigl and James McArthur combined for no earned runs allowed and 25 strikeouts, allowing only 11 hits in the three combined starts. The bullpen was effective as well, combining for 14 Ks in 11 innings with only five hits surrendered. OLE MISS OUTLASTS MEMPHIS IN FIRST MIDWEEK Behind big outings from Nick Fortes and Grae Kessinger, the Rebels survived a ninth inning scare to take down Memphis, 8-6, in their first midweek of the season. The duo combined for seven of the team s 13 hits, highlighted by Fortes two home runs and six RBI. Kessinger had a career high four-hit performance. Houston Roth garnered his first career start on the mound and earned the victory, while Austin Miller, Greer Holston, Will Stokes and Dallas Woolfolk finished it out to hold of the Tigers three runs over the final two frames.

In 17 seasons leading the program, Bianco has delivered on that expectation as Ole Miss Baseball has become one of the nation s benchmark programs. With 14 postseason appearances in 17 years, five Super Regional appearances over the last 11 years and a College World Series appearance in 2014, Ole Miss has continued to rank among the nation s elite each season under Bianco. Bianco is the winningest coach in Ole Miss Baseball history with 662 victories as head coach, holding a (.626) record during his tenure. Moreover, he is the winningest and longest active coach in the Southeastern Conference among the three major sports of baseball, men s basketball and football. With 662 wins at Ole Miss, Bianco ranks sixth all-time for victories by a head coach at a SEC school. Ole Miss has reached the 30-win plateau in each of Bianco s 17 seasons, proving that the Rebels reload their roster, not rebuild. The Rebels posted three straight 40-win seasons from for the first time in school history and have averaged 40 wins a year over the last decade. Along with hosting an NCAA Regional in seven of the last 14 years, the Rebels have advanced to a Super Regional five times in that span, culminating with the program s fifth College World Series appearance in Bianco has also led the Rebels to championships as Ole Miss won the Western Division Title in 2005 and followed that with the 2006 SEC Tournament Championship. In 2009, the Rebels claimed the overall SEC Championship with a school record 20 wins in conference play before claiming the SEC Western Division title again in On the field, Bianco has established a tradition of developing some of the nation s top players as the Rebels have seen a combined 33 selections to All-America and Freshman All-America teams over the past 17 seasons. During the 2017 campaign, three Rebels earned Freshman All-America status in Will Ethridge, Ryan Rolison and Houston Roth. The feat marked the second consecutive season that Ole Miss produced three Freshman All-Americans. The most recent addition to the list of All-Americans was outfielder J.B. Woodman following the 2016 season. Ole Miss also became the first school to produce two different finalists for the Johnny Bench Award in consecutive seasons when Stuart Turner and Will Allen were named as finalists in 2013 and 2014, respectively. Turner claimed the award in 2013, becoming the first catcher in program history to be tabbed as the national catcher of the year. The excellence produced on the field has not gone unnoticed over the last 17 seasons under Bianco as the Rebels have seen 99 Major League Baseball draft picks in that time. Of those 99 draft selections, nine were on Major League rosters in Bianco s on-field accomplishments have been recognized nationally, as the Rebel skipper was selected to serve as an assistant coach with the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team in the summer of To become the all-time winningest coach in Ole Miss history, Bianco passed Rebel legend Jake Gibbs with his 486th win on March 9, 2013 against Lipscomb in non-conference action. On March 6, 2016, he won his 600th game at Ole Miss to become just the ninth coach in NCAA history to record at least 600 wins at a SEC school. The excitement on the field has spilled over into the stands where fans of Ole Miss Baseball have taken notice and shown their appreciation. Each season under Bianco, attendance has soared as more and more fans clamor to fill Oxford-University Stadium. That frenzy has been characterized as one of the best atmospheres in baseball. The 2017 season marked the 13th consecutive season that more than 160,000 fans have come to Oxford to see Ole Miss in action, and the 14th straight year with more than 120,000 GAMES fans flocking to O-U Stadium to watch Rebel baseball. On Opening Day, a single-game attendance record was set when 12,117 fans at Swayze Field showed up to watch the Rebels knock off No. 6 East Carolina. the season-opening series attendance total ended at 33,070 for another Swayze Field record. In 2016, attendance figures were shattered with a record 291,714 fans packing the park to see the Rebels play. An average of 8,579 watched each Ole Miss baseball home game throughout the season, another program best. All-told, more than two million fans have poured into O-U Stadium to cheer on the Rebels during the Bianco era. In 2011, the Rebels ranked second nationally with an average of 8,156 fans per game at Swayze Field, and that trend has continued with the Rebels ranking in the top five nationally for 11 consecutive seasons. With the success on the field and support in the stands, Oxford has evolved into a top destination for fans of postseason baseball. Bianco and the Rebels hosted four straight NCAA Regionals and two Super Regionals from Ole Miss posted the largest crowds for any NCAA Super Regional in 2005 and 2006 and posted the highest attendance of any NCAA Regional in The 2005 NCAA Regional in Oxford drew the secondlargest crowd among all Regionals. When the Rebels hosted again in 2009 at the newly renovated Oxford-University Stadium, new attendance marks were again set; Ole Miss hosted the then-largest crowd in school history as 10,323 fans came to see the Rebels take on Virginia in game two of the Super Regional. All-told, 29,646 fans came to the Super Regional, making it the most attended Super Regional of the season and the highest attendance for a Super Regional at an on-campus facility in NCAA history. In the 2014 NCAA Regional, the Rebels ranked second nationally with 49,314 fans packing the stadium for the six-game event as Ole Miss began its run to the College World Series. On Monday, June 13, 2005, the Rebels Super Regional game against eventual national champion Texas was the third-most watched television broadcast of a college baseball game in the history of ESPN. It s further evidence that under Mike Bianco, Ole Miss Baseball has truly become a national name. Bianco, 50, was born May 3, 1967, and is a native of Seminole, Florida. He is married to the former Camille Marquette, and the couple has five children: sons, Michael, Benjamin, Andrew and Samuel, and one daughter, Catherine. Bianco was inducted into the Indian River Community College Hall of Fame in He was also named to the All-Alex Box Omaha Era Team by LSU in In 2010, Bianco was inducted into the Seminole High School Hall of Fame.
