EXTRA, EXTRA!: The Chicago Cubs last night won their second-straight, come-frombehind extra-inning contest in Milwaukee, this time erasing a 3-0 deficit to take a 4-3 lead in the fifth, only to see the Brewers tie the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the frame it remained that way until the 10th when Tommy La Stella drew a basesloaded walk and Carl Edwards Jr., who had entered in the ninth, locked down the 5-4 victory, tossing a total of 1.2 scoreless innings to earn the win. Chicago has won consecutive extra-inning games against the same club in which it had to come-from-behind in both contests for the first time since June 19-20, 2009 vs. the Indians. It s the first time the Cubs have turned the trick against the same team on the road in 41 years since doing so May 2, 1976, in both ends of a doubleheader at San Francisco thanks to STATS Inc. The comeback victory was Chicago s 43rd of the season, second-most in the N.L. (Dodgers, 45) and third-most in the majors (Angels are second with 44). IN GOOD STANDING: Last evening s win extended the Cubs lead in the N.L.Central to a season-high tying 5.0 games, as the Cardinals moved into second place in the division thanks to their win in Pittsburgh coupled with the Cubs win over Milwaukee the Brewers sit in third place, 5.5 games back. Chicago entered the All-Star Break with a 5.5-game deficit to the Brewers, but has gained 11.0 games over Milwaukee since then. WHAT LIES AHEAD: The Cubs, who sit a season-high 19-games over.500 and are 9-1 in their last 10 and 17-7 in their last 24, have just nine regular season games remaining, all against N.L.
