The Tigers are the designated visiting team and occupy the first-base dugout on Wednesday. The Tigers play No. 7 seed Miami (Fla.) (27-25) on Thursday at 7 p.m., on RSN. Clemson is the designated home team and occupies the third-base dugout on Thursday. The games are played at Durham (N.C.) Bulls Athletic Park. It is the 11th time the ACC Baseball Tournament is held in Durham and first time since 2016, when Clemson won its 10th ACC Tourney title. The 2018 tourney s format has four three-team pools. The winner of each pool advances to a four-team, single-elimination tourney. The format, in its second year, features four three-team pools that guarantees the 12 teams play a minimum of two games. Pool A is comprised of No. 1 seed North Carolina, No. 8 seed Georgia Tech and No. 12 seed Pittsburgh. Pool B is comprised of No. 2 seed Clemson, No. 7 seed Miami (Fla.) and No. 11 seed Notre Dame. TIGERS RECOGNIZED FOR APR SCORE Baseball was one of seven Tiger programs in the top-10 percent of their sport in the eligibility, graduation and retention metric. It was the second year in a row the Clemson baseball program was lauded by the NCAA for its APR. Clemson was one of only three ACC institutions (Notre Dame, Virginia Tech) to earn recognition for baseball. GRADUATES Five Tiger players and two student assistants received their degrees during commencement ceremonies in Littlejohn Coliseum on May 10,11. Outfielders Robert Jolly and Drew Wharton and infielder Adam Renwick graduated with a degree in parks, recreation & tourism management. Infielder Patrick Cromwell graduated with a degree in communication. Lefthander Alex Schnell graduated with a degree in construction science & management. Student assistant coaches Mark Davidson (history) and Ben Paulsen (business management) graduated as well. PRO INFLUENCE Clemson has several current and former players on its roster who have MLB ties. Both Tiger student assistant coaches, Mark Davidson and Ben Paulsen, were former Tigers who went on to play in the majors. Davidson, father of Tiger shortstop Logan Davidson, played at Clemson in 1982 and played six MLB years ( ) with the Twins and Astros. Paulsen, Clemson s first-base coach, played at Clemson from and played three years ( ) with the Rockies. Grayson Byrd is the son of righthander Paul Byrd, who played 14 years with the Mets, Braves, Phillies, Royals, Angels, Indians and Red Sox. Carson Spiers is the nephew of former Tiger infielder Bill Spiers, who played 13 MLB seasons and is currently a Tiger football staff member. SIX TIGERS NAMED TO ALL-ACC TEAM Seth Beer (OF) and Ryley Gilliam (RP) earned First- Team All-ACC honors. It was the third time Beer was named All-ACC. DAVIDSON A COMPLETE PLAYER Sophomore shortstop Logan Davidson has been steady both at the plate and in the field in He was named to the Brooks Wallace Award Watch List in April. He is hitting.300 with 16 doubles, 13 homers, 38 RBIs, 54 runs, 38 walks, a.417 on-base percentage and 10 steals in 56 games.
