BACK HOME AFTER ROAD BROOMING--If Mother Nature cooperates, the Royals will be thrilled to return to Kauffman Stadium for a 10-game stay after one of the rougher road swings in team annals...kc s last effort was a 5-2 loss in Chicago on Wednesday afternoon to closeout an 0-7 journey through Arlington (0-4) and Chi-Town (0-3)...Wednesday s loss saw the Sox take a 2-0 lead in the first, but the Royals battled back to tie the game a 2-2 entering the home half of the sixth, but a 2-run homer by Avisail Garcia broke the deadlock and sent Kansas City to its seventh straight defeat...nate Karns absorbed the loss (0-2) allowing four runs on seven hits in 6.0 innings...it marked KC s first winless trip of at least seven games since April 11-19, 2006, when the club dropped all nine games of a tour through Yankee Stadium, Tampa Bay and Chicago...this is the first time the Royals have been seven games under the.500 mark since August 5, 2016, when the club was 51-58, but then proceeded to win 18 of its next 22. HOMESTAND COMMENCES--Tonight kicks off what is hoped to be a 10-game homestand, though the weather forecast is anything but promising for the next 72 hours...tonight also starts a stretch in which Kansas City will play 16 of its next 20 games here in Kauffman Stadium as the club attempts to dig out of the hole created by the just completed 0-7 road trip...things were a tad better during the initial homestand, though KC dropped the first two games to Oakland, but then rebounded to win five of the last six for a 5-3 opening stay... this stand features a weekend set against the Twins, followed by a 4-game visit from the White Sox starting on Monday, then a week from tonight the Royals will open a 3-game series against the newest American League champions from Cleveland...once the series with the Tribe concludes, Kansas City will make a 4-game jaunt to St. Pete on May 8-11, then return for three against the Orioles and three vs. the Yankees to closeout this stretch. RUNS STILL TOUGH TO COME BY--The Royals were held to two runs in Wednesday s loss marking the ninth time in the last 10 games that Kansas City has been limited to two or fewer runs in a game...kc had gone eight straight contests of two or less before plating three in Tuesday s loss in Chicago...the Royals have scored a Major League low 54 runs through the first 21 games, a 2.6 per game average and 17 runs fewer than the 29th offense in baseball which resides in Pittsburgh with 71 runs...the biggest issue has been the work with runners in scoring position, with KC going 1-for-10 in Wednesday s loss and falling to a.157 mark (20-for-127) on the year, which is also last in the Majors...the Royals were 5-for-33 (.152) in RISP situations on the trip. BOBBLEHEAD WEEKEND--The bobblehead craze hits The K this weekend as tonight and tomorrow will feature a pair of Royals figurines...tonight is the one-ofa-kind Rusty Kuntz bobblehead, in which the KC first base coach is represented with a bobblehead that features real hair, as well as a talking feature...tomorrow night is the first in the Memorable Moments Series of bobbleheads throughout 2017, with Kelvin Herrera s performance in the 2015 World Series the first to be highlighted. ACE 30 REMEMBERING YO--The morning of January 22, 2017 will always be remembered as one of the most tragic days in franchise history when word was received that pitcher Yordano Ventura had his life cut short due to a car accident in his native Dominican Republic...signed as a 17-year old in 2008, the fireballing righthander compiled a during his abbreviated Major League career...among many highlights, Ace will be most remembered for blanking the San Francisco Giants over 7.0 innings in Game #6 of the 2014 World Series to force a seventh and deciding game, while pitching with a heavy heart himself due to the untimely passing of his friend Oscar Tavares...to honor the late Ventura, all uniforms in 2017 will be adorned with the ACE 30 patch.
