1 Royal Russell Junior School Bulletin Summer Term 2017
2 Dear Parents, Welcome back to the Summer term. We have had a packed week already and it has been wonderful to see all the children back at school, full of stories of their holidays. Year 6 are gearing up for Bikeability next week and we have seen a wonderful array of bikes being checked over during the last two days. Thursday saw the children participate in some very thought provoking talks from the NSPCC that proved to be both educational and entertaining at the same time. My thanks to Mrs Taylor for organising this initiative. As we start the Summer term, please can I remind you all about a few uniform details. Boys can wear shorts (as they can all year round) and girls can wear summer dresses (with white socks). All maroon games socks, shirts and leggings should be packed away for this term and children should be in white socks and white or house tops for all sport. Please can I also remind those of you who have been a little sharp with the clippers over the holiday that hair should be no shorter than a Grade 3. Thank you for your help and support with these areas of school life. On Sunday we will be welcoming over 500 children to Royal Russell to participate in the second Flight Centre Restless Triathlon where we hope to raise in excess of 50k for a very worthy cause. Thank you to all staff involved on the day, to the pupils for their participation and to all who have sponsored the event. Particular mention to the mastermind of the day Mrs Lloyd who amongst other things has stuffed 500+ water bottles ready for the competitors. All details about the event can be found here Good luck to Mr Swann running his 34 th London Marathon on Sunday and of course a very Happy Birthday to our Patron HRH Queen Elizabeth II. Best wishes for the weekend James C Thompson

6 Some of you may know our Sports Coach, Mr Graham Swann. He is running his 34th London Marathon on Sunday, a fantastic achievement... especially as he dresses as a clown each year! He is raising money for the very worthy charity Demelza Hospice. If you would like to show your support and donate, please go to URL below or click on the link in your . 7 As the weather continues to improve, please could you ensure school sunhats are sent in daily and are clearly named. Please apply the ONCE sun cream prior to the start of our school day and if the weather is particularly sunny, send a clearly named bottle of sun cream in for your child, which they will be encouraged to apply themselves at lunch time. They will only be allowed to apply the cream that is provided and named for themselves. Staff are not permitted to apply the cream.
