7 APPENDIX FOR QUESTION 4 4. If you drive alone to work, what factor would most likely lead you to find a different means to commute? Answer Options Response Percent Response Count A. Higher cost of gasoline B. More direct access by rail and/or bus C. More direct access by bicycling and/or walking D. Higher levels of congestion on roadways E. Tools to make forming a carpool easier F. An opportunity coordinated by my employer, such as an employee vanpool G. Nothing H. Other (please specify) 3.3% % % % % % % % 129 answered skipped Number Other (please specify) 1 improved bicycle facilities at light-rail stations 2 Time. Rail, bus, bicycle or carpool cannot beat my 30min commute by car. 3 Lower cost of public transportation 4 Eirler and later ways of transportation 5 Access to rail from south side and a 24 hour schedule 6 Telecommuting option from my employer 7 Retired hence N/A While cost and time (congestion) influence the decision, and I would like to be able to bike to work, the distance is large, my work site has few 8 employees, I am going orthoganal to traffic flow, so I do not expect to see a viable option for alternative transportation. 9 rail system serving arlington area to dallas and ft worth 10 The ability to work from home! 11 I work shift work which is why I drive alone 12 N/A 13 An ability to shower after a bicycle commute would be huge I think. Not sure how NCTCOG could impact that though. 14 Retired

8 15 retired 16 I attend numerous meetings in the community so car pooling is not feasible 17 retired, but would likely keep driving if I were still working 18 TOLL roads 19 I don't wnat a different means of commuting, I want my roads expanded without tolls 20 I ride my bike to the train station and take train to centerport Due to my rural location and short commute a different commute option is not feasible through mass transit. However I do look for carpool options on my own. I work from home and do not commute on a daily basis RAIL SERVICE throughout the Metroplex is HIGH PRIORITY for both business and personal transportation I don't commute. 25 new technologies (hovercraft, automated cars, etc., so nothing in the immediate future 26 I don't drive to work Just drive, go to work and be happy; too many excuses today for everything. Be grateful you can show up at all. I'm retired 29 Retired - Not applicable 30 I don't drive to work 31 Employer incentive to encourage work from home If you are going to get me to change my mode of transportation, you are going to have to make it 1. Faster, 2, cheaper, and 3. More convenient. Since every major metroplex in Texas is so spead out, this would be impossible. Work from home 34 N/A retired 35 don't work - retired 36 Having someone living near me that travels to same employer 37 Ease of access to Public Transportation 38 nights+weekend lack of service, no overnight parking 39 direct access by railway 40 I'm retired and don't drive to work anymore. 41 both better walking/cycling access AND bus/rail direct access 42 Rail not bus. We need rail transportation 43 Nothing, It takes me 2 minutes to drive to work and 4 minutes to drive home 44 Keep gas low so people can have freedom to travel cheaply. Public transportation is not cost effective. 45 Nothing, I need my car for daily meetings which are not at my work site and not readily assessible by bus. 46 I start my shift at 3am. I'd like to see public transportation service start earlier than the current time of 6am. 47 Dont work 48 lower cost on Texpress lanes on My commute is 4 miles on a major road so I am not sure if bicycling would be a feasible option. 50 My job requires that I drive my car. 51 Multiple factors would influence this like fuel price, congested highway etc. 52 Facilities at my employer for cleaning up after walking to work. 53 condition of roads 54 Less toll roads, expand and fix current roadways 55 Not possible for my line of work. Driving is necessary.

9 56 N/A 57 direct access by rail/bus and congestion are factors 58 We already carpool 59 I work from home, so don't need another mode 60 Widen Country Road east of Parker road, Collin County 61 I ride the bus to work 62 N/A 63 Because my job requires use of my personal vehicle none of the above options would apply 64 I Provide Tarrant county more funds for the construction of large HOV or Toll Lane roads in far north Forth Worth & Keller that actually go "somewhere" becuase the progress on I35W is too slow & a decade too late. Rail and bicycling opportunities These options will work for individuals who have a defined start and end time and location for work. Families raising children often need to rush 67 home and take their children to extra curricular activities. Car pooling is a great option for these and we use community networking tools like next door and group texts to effect car pooling. I observe the use of DART transit systems for public events when traffic congestion does not allow for parking etc. 68 There's no rail or bus stop near my job 69 An Uber type of robocab, especially if the automated vehicles are given dedicated lanes 70 Nothing, I like 3 miles from work so travel is not a problem 71 self employed and work out of my residence 72 Nothing because I work 15 minutes from home and do not access a fwy 73 Comparable time commute on Rail/Bus. Currently it would take about twice as long WORK FROM HOME OR STAGGERED WORK SCHEDULES. YOU SHOULD WORK MORE CLOSELY WITH EMPLOYERS TO ACHIEVE SUCH AN ARRANGEMENT WITH EMPLOYEES. I work from home, but have appointment throughout the day that require driving. Public transportation not linked to traditional work hours would help me, but we may not be sufficiently dense. I don't drive to work; I use public transport. 77 am now retired - used to drive from far north dallas to arlington; it about killed me. 78 don't drive, don't work 79 Legalize and welcome Uber and Lyft. 80 Ride sharing businesses Stop giving taxpayer support to downtown with rail...jobs move out to the suburbs. You are supporting sprawl with mass transit. N/A work from home 83 Fortunately Retired 84 I'm retired 85 Finish the Denton Katy Trail in Lake Dallas, Highland Village and Lewisville,. 86 telecommuting, but employers are not open to the idea 87 Moving 88 Multi modal to combine cycling and public transport. 89 I bicycle to work. 90 Retired

10 I drive taxi and the City of Dallas removing caps for transportation-for-hire has had a huge impact on number of vehicles on the road and the 91 amount of smog that we have now. Also, since there is so much construction going on everywhere the number of construction vehicles causes a lot of traffic. Projects are taking to long to finish as well 92 Add lanes to roads, Quit wasting money on trails. 93 Retired 94 Telecommuting 95 my office is within 5 miles of home - I have no need for assistance 96 Working from home 97 TOO MANY TOLLROADS...WHAT PART OF "NO" DOESN'T MIKE MORRIS UNDERSTAND?? 98 does not apply to me 99 Does not apply, i travel on call by car 100 I bicycle commute 101 I don't commute 102 Nothing because I only live 1 mile from work 103 telecommute 104 The nature of my work does not allow commuting. 105 I ride a bike to work a few days a week already More efficient/comfortable transit. DART's red line is very crowded and has long headways, particularly outside of high commute times. more frequent access by rail 108 If the bus didn't go through the East Transfer Center or stop in the homeless district on its way downtown. 109 Nothing at the moment because I have to take kids to school 110 I don't own a car. I am retired. 111 retired - DFW needs more (affordable) public transp, more bike lanes & provision for walking It is not just improved access by rail, bus, biking, and/or walking, but a positive experience traveling to or passing through and a positive arrival setting and sense of place. I am 5 min from wk. 114 More acces and higher frequency rail/bus activity and service 115 I carpool to work. 116 in my job - i am in many places most days and need personal transportaion 117 home, but travel daily across DFW area 118 Knowing that I was supporting a clean environment. 119 safer walk/bike route 120 Traffic lengthening commute 121 East-West rail routes on DART. By car it takes me 20 min to get to work, by DART train it's an hour. 122 increase work at home capability 123 I Alternate car and bicycle using the Trinity Trail and site streets. 124 I already bike commute most work days. Improve and expand both bike and public transit and I would be able to get rid of my car completely. 125 I don't drive alone to work. 126 More bike lanes, more rail and bus access. 127 I regularly take transit 128 A job where I'm not required to have a car. I'd ditch my car then. 129 I take the train to work
