4 ITINERARY 4 Days Inside the Giro - Giro d Italia - 29 May 2014 Explore beautiful Trento, Be part of the atmosphere of a mountain top finish, Welcome Dinner Guests are invited to join their hots in Trento. We ask that guests arrive by midday. Your guide team will meet you at the Trento train station or directly at the hotel as you require. the race come to us live, then all the excitement as the race passes before climbing up to the finish. In the evening, you will be invited to join your guide team for a welcome dinner. They will update you on the race action and give you further information on the coming days. Overnight: Trento Live race viewing: Belluno to Rif Panarotta (171km) Combined program: Guests will join their guide team as we transfer to the stage route located near to Trento. With our race accreditation, we will drive on the race route itself. After enjoying the crowds lining the route, we will set up base in the village of Levico Terme. This spa town will be a great place to soak up the atmosphere of the Giro. Here we will enjoy watching 30 May 2014 Visit the riders as they prepare for the ITT, VIP hospitality at the finish, Be there for there for the jersey presentations On what will be a critical day in the race's overall outcome, our guests will enjoy a rest day from the bike to allow us a chance to enjoy all that the Time Trial has to offer. In the morning, we will transfer to the start village of the time trial, Bassano del Grappa. Here we will check in on the teams as they prepare. You will see the mechanics in action and many riders warming up and discussing tactics with their coaches and managers. From here, we will then transfer to the finish point of Cima Grappa. The final time trial of the race is a 26.8km uphill test that will have a massive impact on the race. On arriving at the race finish point we will then enjoy an afternoon of VIP race hospitality. All guests will be invited in to the exclusive Giro Club. The hospitality zone is located on the finish line and here you will enjoy an afternoon of food, drinks and incredible live race action as we witness a critical moment in the 2014 Giro d'italia. You are also likely to meet many legends of cycling as it is the place to be for the past legends and race officials. In 2013 we enjoyed the company of Marco Cipollini and many others in the Giro Club. At the conclusion of the race we will be there for the presentation of the stage winner and potentially the changing of the wearer of the 'Maglia Rosa'. 6 ITINERARY 31 May 2014 Climb the mighty Zoncolan ahead of the pros, ride across the finish line & stand atop the podium, VIP finish hospitality One of the biggest names for climbing is 'Zoncolan'. located to the North of Venice, this climb is infamous for its ability to change a race. With a 15% maximum gradient which is located at the top of the climb, the climb has the ability to tear the race apart and create major time gaps. Rider program: Guests will be transferred to the race route from where we will start our ride. On this day you will be part of a wave of cyclists as the Italian and world's cycling enthusiasts converge for what will be an incredible day in the Giro's history. Following a beautiful descent we will follow the valley floor before turning upwards to conquer the Zoncolan. With our race accredited support vehicles on the ride with you, guests will be encouraged to conquer what is an incredible climb. On reaching the summit you will have the exclusive experience of riding across the finish line and standing atop the podium like the likes of Rodriguez & Quintana will do only hours later! Non rider program: With the riders taking on the mighty Zoncolan, you will be there to provide moral support. Joining our staff in the support vehicles, you will witness the true size and passion of the Giro. Here you will be a part of the race as we climb the Zoncolan in front of thousands that line the climb. On reaching the summit, you will have the chance to join the riding group as we enjoy our photos being taken on the race podium! Combined program: On arrival at the summit, guests will have the chance to freshen up before we take you to the VIP zone at the finish line. Here guests will have the best viewing of the finish possible, plus enjoy watching the race coming live on television and food & drinks throughout the afternoon. We will be there to see the ultimate conclusion to determine the winner of the 2014 Maglia Rosa from the ultimate viewing location! At the conclusion of the racing we will enjoy the celebrations as the stage winner and ultimately the overall winner will be decided & the jerseys presented. From here we will travel to our hotel in the 2014 Giro finish city of Trieste. Overnight: Trieste Live race action: Maniago to Monte Zoncolan (167km) Ride distance: up to 70km 1 June 2014 Soak up the atmosphere of beautiful Trieste, VIP seating for the race finish, Be there for the sprint & race presentation Our final tour day will be one to remember. The arrival of the Giro d'italia to Trieste will be full of colour and supported by a huge crowd. Guests will be invited to enjoy the morning at leisure. Our hotel is located in the heart of the city in the beautiful old centre. Here you will be able to enjoy some Italian coffee or enjoy a walk to the nearby seafront. 4 Days Inside the Giro - Giro d Italia - In the afternoon guests will be welcomed at our private grand stand located at the finish line. Here we will enjoy a fantastic afternoon. During the day we will see the parade of the Giro d'italia, with all the publicity caravan entertaining the crowd before the arrival of the race. 8 ITINERARY From here the riders will have their moment. The race will do 8 laps of the city circuit. The early laps are typically honouring the winners of the race's overall titles & often riders that may have announced their upcoming retirement. After this the racing is on in earnest as the title of the best sprinter is typically still alive & the honour to win the final stage is coveted. Will we see Mark Cavendish continue his success or can one of the younger challengers take the title? Whatever happens, we will be there to see it from our prime seating with uninterrupted views! At the conclusion of the race guests will be able to make their way to the race presentation zone to see the official crowning of the winners. The Italians know how to celebrate and the presentation is certainly something to witness. In the evening we will enjoy a celebration dinner, to com- memorate a fantastic Giro d'italia, great riding & sightseeing. Overnight: Trieste Live race action: Gemona to Trieste (169km) 2 June 2014 Following breakfast at the hotel, we will transfer guests to Venice Marco Polo airport for onward travel. Please do not book flights departing prior to 2pm. Should you wish to explore Italy further, Trieste is connected by regular trains to all the major centres including Venice, Rome, Milan and Florence. 9 ITINERARY Brughera (1 night) Hotel Ca'Brughera 4* are on the ride route with the group to assist in the situation of mechanical issues, to carry spare clothing, food, water, etc and to allow the option to shorten the ride if you wish. Depending on the timings of the race on the day and the varying speeds of the group, on some days we may choose to break for a coffee in a nice village we know to regroup, and on other days continue to ride through to our final destination. 4 Days Inside the Giro - Giro d Italia - confirm sizing. All guests are required to bring their own pedals, cycling shoes, helmets and bike computers. Trieste (2 nights) Hotel Continentale 4* Our programs are designed to give each individual the challenge they are looking for. If you are uncertain if your level of experience and fitness is suitable for the programs, please don't hesitate in contacting us to discuss. We can also assist in providing training ideas should you wish. On race days there may be the need to shorten the rides for some within the group depending on ride speeds in order to avoid road closures. This will be kept to a minimum however we appreciate your understanding on this should it need to take place. About the rides: Guests are invited to ride the length and speed that suits them individually. We structure our rides with a riding guide at the front, who goes at the pace of the faster riders and a guide at the rear who goes at the pace of the slowest rider. We will then have further guides within the group based on group numbers.
