2 Itinerary Overview Explore the back passages and shimmering waterways of the most remote areas of Southeast Alaska s Inside Passage. Navigating the waters by small ship allows us to reach rarely seen areas where spectacular scenery and pristine beauty abound at every turn. From the comfort of our expedition vessel we encounter wildlife at eye level, meet native Alaskans, and enter some of the world's deepest fjords under massive glaciers, hike on wilderness trails and kayak from serene anchorages in isolated coves. The world's largest mammals, the great whales, migrate here and orcas are often found foraging in the bountiful waters along the sheltered coastline. Our expedition naturalists provide exciting interpretation and presentations about Alaskan wildlife, natural history and geology. Enjoy kayaking among icebergs, hiking far-off trails, stand-up paddle boarding, snorkeling, polar bear club swims and observing marine wildlife, bird watching, and glacier walks. [D] DAY 2: WINDHAM BAY, CHUCK RIVER WILDERNESS AND FREDERICK SOUND Wake up to the glory of Windham Bay. Push your senses and your muscles with the exhilarating combination of sea kayaking and trekking. Or ride a skiff to the same shore and take a relaxing walk on a trail that boasts a 350-foot elevation gain. Back on board, we move into the waters of Frederick Sound the summer feeding ground for the largest concentration of humpback whales in the Northern Hemisphere. Scan the water for movement and thrill as humpbacks, orca and stellar sea lions feed and eye us with curiosity. [] DAY 3: THOMAS BAY, BAIRD GLACIER AND CASCADE CREEK Thomas Bay is known for glaciers, gold and quartz deposits, and an array of wildlife. Take on the exposed terminal moraine of the Baird Glacier Trail until you reach the top of the glacier. Choose guided kayaking and a lush forest trek on one of the scenic Cascade Creek trails. Or go big on the 5-mile hike to the glacially-fed and rarely visited Patterson Lake for spectacular kayaking. Travelers looking for relaxation can always enjoy a quiet day spent onboard, reading, napping, hot tubbing or arranging a massage. Dinner includes a reading from The Strangest Story Ever Told, a story about Thomas Bay and native bigfoot-like creatures call Kushtaka. [] DAY 4: LECONTE BAY, IDEAL COVE & WRANGELL NARROWS Wake to the sounds of bergy bits and brash ice as they gently roll past the hull of the ship as we navigate through the ice-rich waters of LeConte Bay, home to the Northern hemisphere s most southerly tidewater glacier. Soar above the stunning mile-wide LeConte Glacier in an optional floatplane excursion. Shake off sleep with a yoga class. Then rove through the ice-encrusted waters by kayak or skiff. A treasure trove of adventure and natural beauty awaits whether you kayak, hike at Ideal Cover, or explore by skiff. After dinner, marvel at the sights as we turn toward Wrangell via the Wrangell Narrows, and are guided by over 30 bright red and green navigation lights, locally known as Christmas Tree Lane. [] DAY 5: WRANGELL, CHIEF SHAKES TRIBAL HOUSE Today is all about native culture, wildlife and wonder. Rise early for a fishing excursion in the king salmon-rich waters, seemingly just waiting to be hooked. Brush up on your Tlingit culture at Chief Shakes Tribal House for native storytelling and visit Kiksetti Totem Park on Front Street to view recently carved totem poles and hear their unique story. The afternoon offers some of the most scenic kayaking of the trip along the 5-mile Canoe Pass. End the day with a soak in the hot tub or watch a DVD movie as the vessel cruises toward Yes Bay on the northern end of Behm Canal. [] -3-

4 DAY 6: YES BAY It is tough to say no in Yes Bay which may be why wildlife abounds here and in the surrounding Tongass National Forest. Watch for humpback whales, orca, porpoise, seals, sea lions, brown bears, black bears, mink, marten, eagles and otters. Say yes to a kayak tour up the bay and choose your wildlife hike: Wolverine Creek Trail and the scenic hike following the river to Lake McDonald also a perfect spot to cast a fly for trout. Optional saltwater and freshwater fishing trips are available for an additional cost. After lunch, wile away the hours over a good book, take out a kayak for a leisurely paddle, or enjoy in the good fun of platform diving contests and swim racing around the ship. [] DAY 7: MISTY FJORDS NATIONAL MONUMENT Watch the sun rise over the steep and sometimes sheer walls of the Misty Fjords National Monument Area, a haven for ducks, brown and black bear, mountain goats, Sitka deer, mink, moose, river otters and other marine wildlife who ply the waters of Behm Canal and the inlets. Glide through Walker Cove by kayak (close-in or long distance) and stop at shoreline beaches to stretch your legs. Or explore it all by skiff, soaking in the splendor of this largely forgotten corner of the world. Man the rope swing, race around the ship and show off with a platform dive, if you dare. This evening, you will be greeted with cocktails as you join the captain in a farewell toast. Then reminisce about your Alaskan journey over a sumptuous Alaskan seafood and prime beef dinner. After dining we gather to talk and share our video footage on the lounge's flat screen TV's. [] DAY 8: KETCHIKAN DISEMBARK A bon voyage breakfast ends our journey; however there are many enticing ways to extend your journey from here. A flight or helicopter tour over the Juneau Ice Field, trekking over Mendenhall Glacier and exploring the ice caves or dog mushing or consider joining us for the return trip from Ketchikan to Juneau on our entirely different itinerary through the equally beautiful Western Coves. OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES: Day 4 LeConte Glacier Floatplane Tour - $200 per person A birds-eye view of the popular LeConte Glacier can be arranged for you by floatplane. Twenty-one miles long and one mile wide, it is known for its "shooter" icebergs, which calve off underneath the water and shoot out of the water due to their buoyancy. Minimum of 4. Kayaking, Hiking and Overnight Camping - Level 2 $150 per person For those who wish to experience Southeast Alaska's raw outdoors, spend a night away from the ship in the wilderness to hike, camp and kayak. An expert guide from your ship will accompany you on this unique adventure. Go from "cheechako" to "sourdough" in one night, minimum 6 guests. A fully-equipped fishing boat also travels with each small ship. The interior spaces offer contemporary colors and brushed metals that complement the wilderness outside, and both the public and private spaces are loaded with special amenities. Completely refurbished in 2010, the cabins and public interior spaces are designed in contemporary colors and loaded with amenities. On the Main Deck, an updated galley is equipped to prepare a variety of fresh cuisine with plenty of Alaskan seafood, as well as special dietary requests including favorite dishes for kids and young adults. Large picture windows in the dining area allow you to enjoy the scenery and watch for wildlife while you dine. This is especially comfortable for novice kayakers who will appreciate the stability of slipping into their kayak and getting fully prepared on deck with the crew's assistance before they easily launch you at water level. With covered and open area the Observation Decks provide plenty of space for viewing wildlife and scenery, lounging in the Alaskan sun, and enjoying a Jacuzzi under the northern constellations. -7-

All travelers must sign and submit a Release of Liability. Deposit requirements are as follows:* $500 per person for all trips in Central America. $700 per person for all trips in South America, the Middle East, Asia and the Far East, the Mediterranean and North America. 20% of land cost for all trips in Africa. This deposit is generally non-refundable. *Some trips require additional non-refundable deposits, especially when yachts have been chartered, or if permits to visit archaeological or wildlife sites have been purchased in advance.
