2 CCS Fall Festival The annual CCS Fall Festival is taking place on Friday, November 3, from 3:30 p.m. 6:30 p.m. Mark your calendar now! This year s festival will include hayrides, bounce houses, an obstacle course, joust, super slide, Jurassic Park inflatable, cake walk, face painting, football throw, basketball shot, and many more exciting games. There will also be plenty of food and fellowship at the event. To order your freshly made doughnuts, Dawn Overby at doverby@ccscolts.org with the flavor you want (Glazed, Chocolate-iced, Maple Bacon or assorted). The doughnuts are $8/dozen. Orders need to be placed by Wednesday, November 1. NC State Football Games The Crossroads Christian School Booster Club is still in need of volunteers to work at the final NC State home football game this year. We are grateful to everyone who has worked at the other games this year. NC State football games are a great way to get involved, meet other families, and enjoy fellowship with others while raising money to support CCS athletics. The remaining games are listed below. 3 Save A Life Tour Coming to Crossroads The Save A Life Tour is a comprehensive high impact safe driving awareness program that informs, educates, and demonstrates the potentially deadly consequences resulting from poor choices and decisions made by the operator of a motor vehicle. It is the nation s most advanced and high-impact safe driving awareness program. The event brings crowd participation to the driver s seat of a highly advanced impaired & distracted driving simulator. The simulators give participants a completely realistic, sober perspective on the effects of driving while impaired or distracted. The tour will be stopping at CCS on Friday, November 10, for a presentation with our 9 th -12 th grade students. The program specifically places emphasis on the following driving situations: Driver Experience young drivers and driver behavior based on maturity Improper Driver Behavior careless driving habitsspeeding, turn signal use Safety Restraints proper seat belt usage Impaired Driving alcohol usage, controlled substance, drowsiness Distracted Driving cell phones, passenger activities Motorcycle awareness, operation CCS Library News The library will be bustling with activity during the month of November. There are two ways in which to support the growth of our library here at CCS. The Wild West Book Fair will be held November 6 10 until 4:30 pm daily.. Wednesday, November 8 will be Wild West Spirit Day. Lower School students may come to school dressed as cowboys and cowgirls. CCS shirts are NOT required on this day. For every book purchased during the fair, there will be one entry for a drawing to win a $25 basket of books! Drawing will be held on Friday morning, November 10. There will be an estimation contest again this year. Guesses are 25 cents each. The closest guess to the actual answer wins a $5 gift certificate to spend at the fair. There will be a lower school winner and an upper school winner. This contest closes at 4:30 on Thursday, November 9. 4 Online shopping is available beginning November 1 through November 17. All online orders will be shipped together to the school after November 17. Our school s web site is There is a FREE Scholastic Book Fairs App available at the App Store and at Google Play. This app is useful while shopping to discover the guided reading level of any book offered at the Fair. For more information on the app, go to Finally, there will be books available at the Book Fair for upper school students as well. They are welcome to come and shop at break or after school. The second way to support the library in November is through a Poinsettia Sale that will run from November If you typically buy poinsettias as gifts or decoration for the holiday season, please consider purchasing them with us. Plant delivery will be during the first full week of December, with a specific date set closer to that time. The plants are grown locally in North Carolina and will arrive in a foil covered pot and in a protective sleeve. There will be three sizes and colors for sale. Sizes 6 pots - $12 8 pots - $20 10 hanging baskets - $24 Colors Red Pink Marble (whitish petals with pink marbling) Order forms will be sent home with each lower school student. Please sell only to family and friends no door to door sales, please. Money should be collected at the time of the order. All order forms and monies are due by Thursday, November 16. 5 Lower School Christmas Program "Wrapping All the Way" Thursday, December 14, 6:30 p.m. & Friday, December 15, 9:00 a.m. In the school cafetorium The lower school students will be presenting this year's Christmas musical, Wrapping All the Way," on Thursday, December 14, and Friday, December 15. Due to overcrowding in the cafetorium, tickets will be made available for the Thursday night performance. Information about tickets will be sent out at a later time. Plot: Welcome to Tuneville where the townspeople are known as Tunies, and their leader, King Dazzlebaum, has declared that every day is Christmas. The town's big celebration, Tinsel Mania, is about to take place. But wait a devastating sleigh bell storm is about to change all that! Can local gift wrapper/rappers Tansy and Filbert save the day? CCS Homecoming 2018 A Night In The City CCS Homecoming will take place on Friday, January 12. We know that many of our students begin to prepare months in advance for dress-up days, so we wanted to let everyone know the daily themes in advance. School dress code (see handbook) must be followed when it comes to the length, tightness, and modesty of outfits. For all spirit days, the following are not permitted: tights, pajamas, pajama pants, and tank tops. Students are also not allowed to dress as the opposite gender.
