4 October is Bullying Prevention Month In conflict, children self-monitor their behavior and generally stop when they realize they are hurting someone. When bullying, children continue their behavior when they realize it is hurting someone, and are satisfied by a feeling of power and control. Tomorrow is UNITY DAY. Don t forget to wear orange!
5 KEA Fannie May Holiday Fundraiser The KEA Fannie May fundraiser provides scholarships for former Kirby 140 students attending Andrew high school and planning a career in education. Orders must be placed by Friday, Nov. 10 th to receive by Christmas. Prices are 10% off retail and orders are shipped to your home.
6 Red Ribbon Week This week is Red Ribbon Week! MONDAY: Be Responsible and Sock it to Drugs Wear crazy socks or the color green. TUESDAY: Have Self-Respect and be Too Cool to do Drugs Wear sunglasses or the color yellow. WEDNESDAY: Be Caring and Fair, Take Our Hats Off to Drug Free Kids Wear your favorite hat or wear the color orange. THURSDAY: Be Active and Workout Against Drugs, Team Up Against Drugs Wear your sweats/active clothes or wear the color blue. FRIDAY: - Be a Good Citizen and Team Up Against Drugs Wear your favorite sports team apparel or wear your school colors.
7 Newspaper Club Newspaper Club members will meet after school today in Room 222.
8 Jazz Band Jazz Band will rehearse at Prairie View Wednesday after school from 4:00-5:15 pm.
9 Chorus Chorus members will rehearse Monday and Thursday after school this week. We will meet in the Band room until 4:05 pm.

11 Used Book Sale! The Media Center is once again having a Used Book Sale! All books are 25 cents, except for dictionaries, which are $1 each. Shop early for the best selection!

17 Hot Lunch Tomorrow is Hot Lunch day! Please remember to thank the parents serving you. Without them, there would be no Hot Lunch program.
18 Intramurals Intramurals are held each week here at Grissom. Volleyball intramurals are held on Tuesdays, and Basketball intramurals are held on Thursdays. All intramurals are held from 7:45-8:25 am.
19 Student Support Before and after school Student Support is offered from 8:00-8:35 am each morning, and from 3:10-4:05 pm Monday through Thursday. You must arrive at the beginning of the session and stay for the whole time!
20 Water Bottle Filling Station Challenge Last year Grissom Patriots saved over 6,600 plastic water bottles from ending up in landfills by using the water bottle filling stations throughout the building. Please remember to use these instead of plastic bottles. So far this year, we ve saved 2,924 bottles from landfills! Let s beat last year s total!
