Our school newsletter will be published monthly and will serve as one of the main lines of communication between school and home. The newsletter will include upcoming events, pertinent information for the month, and highlights of PVA activities. Please find time to review The Bobcat Bulletin and I would encourage everyone to place it in a location that you can easily reference the information throughout the month. I would like to extend an invitation to all of our Bobcat parents/guardians to attend two upcoming events. The first is the PTO Coffee Chat that will occur on Monday, September 10 th, at 6:30 pm. At this meeting our administrative team will share information about our Professional Learning Communities, Grading and Homework Policies, and our Positive Behavior Support Systems. The second invitation is to our School Advisory Council (SAC) meeting on Thursday, September 20 th. All of our SAC meetings are open to the public. At this meeting I will review our School Improvement Plan, which outlines our school s baseline data and yearly goals, along with how these goals will be monitored and measured. Our students are enjoying learning about and implementing the first components of Capturing Kids Hearts. As the weeks and months progress we will continue to add elements of this program to our school culture. Ask your children about Good Things and the expectation for greeting with a proper handshake at Palm Valley Academy. Attentive listening will be our next area of intentional instruction. You can practice this at home by working on S.O.L.E.R. listening as a family. Face the speaker Squarely, Adopt an Open Posture, Lean in toward the speaker, Maintain good Eye Contact, and Stay Relaxed. In our fast paced and technology rich world, taking the time to stop, pause, and truly pay attention to conversations is an essential life skill that must be explicitly taught and consistently practiced. Have fun with this activity and keep the atmosphere light and engaging for your children. They will appreciate your efforts. Thank you for your continued support of our school and I look forward to seeing many of you around our campus over the next month. Until next time, be well. Sincerely, Jessica Richardson- Principal

4 SJCSD School Access/Volunteer Forms In a continuing effort to provide safety and security to our students and staff we ask that you complete a School Access Form if you plan to enter a facility in the St. Johns County School District. This includes if you would like to participate in activities for your child in their classroom, field trips, book fairs, as well as readers, tutors, mentors, etc. A link can be found on the Palm Valley website along with detailed instructions. Any person going beyond the front office area of a school must have a completed school access form, and present a valid driver's license or state identification card when signing into a school. It is suggested that the form be completed right away, as it can take two to six weeks to process. Once school access has been granted, a person signs into the school as a volunteer, and chooses the activity that best describes what he/she will be doing in the school. Driver's license and state identification card are required upon each sign in. All forms must contain your full legal name including middle name (no nicknames), address, phone, gender, birth date, and social security number. For more information or to complete an Access Form, please click this link: Thank you. Electronic Report Cards All report cards will be accessed through a parent/guardian Home Access Account (HAC). Paper copies of report cards and interims will not be printed. The middle of the first 9 week grading period (interim) is Wednesday, September 12 th. Please make sure you have HAC access prior to the 12 th of September so you can access, view, and monitor academic progress for your student. Step by step directions are available at Kindergarten students learning about coding and robots
