Square 1 Art Fundraiser All Big Creek students have been busy creating an original artwork in art class. You have the opportunity to order products displaying your child s art. Order forms have been sent home this week. If you choose to place as order, the orders will be due back to school or placed online by March 5. Our school will be using funds raised by this fundraiser to purchase art supplies. Please consider placing an order, all orders placed prior to March 5 th will earn art supply money for our school. Our PTA has generously provided our students with a one of a kind experience. The Big Canyon Balloon experience allows students to interact with a 40 feet wide 15 feet tall model of our earth s crust. The students will be able to interact with many of the features of the canyon, as well as explore the inside CAVE... I know what you are thinking Amazing, Right! There will be food samples, cultural displays, music, dance and native clothing and costumes AND more!!! Abe Ben-Khalid is an 11 year-old 6th grader. He graduated from Big Creek Elementary School in 2012 and now attends Piney Grove middle School. He wrote the book The Greatest Country, which is an inspiring introduction to America, its people and its values. Filled with inspiration, pride, gratitude, character-building stories and imaginative illustrations, this book is a great reminder of how blessed we are to be living in this country, enjoying all of its freedoms, opportunities and magnificence. This quarter third graders researched the endangered animals that are being helped through the Atlanta Zoo Rare Care Program. After creating presentations about all the deserving animals, each class voted on one animal in the program to help. We will be holding a coin collection through March 1 in each third grade class to raise money for the conservation of these wonderful animals. Please consider sending in your loose change. Each third grade classroom will be accepting money. All money raised will go to the Atlanta Zoo Rare Care Program. Stars and Strikes will be looking for them so that you can bowling and eat pizza. Everyone who has requested a 12:00 or 2:30 time will be bowling at the time they requested. Please have your child wear tennis shoes. Stars and Strikes has requested they wear tennis shoes so we don't have to spend time finding bowling shoes for the children. If you do not receive your wrist bands in your child's book bag on Friday please come to the event at the time you requested and check with us at the door.
