On the back of each Calendar you will see details for Youth, Circle of Friends, Special Olympics, and Wheelchair Sports Activities. Please remember that we have planned these activities in advance. 2 LOOK WHAT HAPPENED OVER THE SUMMER MONTHS Congratulations to the UNIFIED VOLLEYBALL TEAM for bringing home the GOLD from the 2016 USAV Open National Championships, on May 26th. YOU are our Champs no matter what, but you have proved you are the Nations number one champions once again. We are so proud of all the partners and Athletes for all your hard work and dedication to the sport! GO GEORGIA GLADIA- TORS!!! Coach Larry Johnson Unified Partners Charles Stephens, Chad Parker, Mark Hanson, Jim Wilson, Leah Santera, and Jacob Adkins. Athletes are Brandon Hughley, PG Griffin, Kyle McEver, Chip Ford, Jeff Johnson, Michael White, and Ben Dollar! Give them a high five when you see them. They worked very hard! Congratulations to the Traditional softball team who traveled to Roanoke, Virginia on August 16th to compete in the Special Olympics North America Softball Championships. These athletes practiced so hard for months to prepare and it paid off as they are the National Champs. That s right 15 gold medals came home to Henry County Ga. We are so proud of them all! A big thank you goes out to the coaches for helping them do their best! Thank you Terry Brooks, Amanda Carlton, Sharon Chancey and Tony Knowles for all you have done and continue to do for our athletes, your love, support and caring for them all is greatly appreciated. Thank you to Babbie Spain our Dug out girl! Thank you to our Senior Employee Volunteer Clint Jeffreys for just helping us do what ever we need help with and to our amazing transit driver David Pike, You are awesome and we love having you on trips with us. Thank you to all the parents for sharing your children with us!! Last but certainly not least, A big thank you to the Athletes because you are awesome!!! A BIG HUGE CONGRATS GOES OUT TO PG GRIFFIN Traveled to the Georgia Games that was held at the Marietta High School this summer on July 17th, where he competed in Track and Field competition. PG entered the Shot Put competition and came home a state champion for a 72 foot throw. He also competed in the 100 meter run and ran that in 10.2 seconds. PG is a great Athlete and we are so proud of him!

September Events SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT WHO: All Softball Team Unified, Traditional and Modified WHAT: BATTLE OF THE BATS WHEN: September 24th, 2016 WHERE: 2300 Keith Bridges Road, Cumming Ga TIME: Meet at Locust Grove Rec Center at 6:45 to leave at 7am promptly Lunch will be provided you may want to bring money for dinner and extra snacks during the day. as always it s a long tournament day! You will need to wear black gym shorts with your uniform shirt, if you have your shirt wear it. If not we have your shirt, you will get that morning. Where we will visit the farm, ride the hayride and pick yummy apples. You will need to bring money for the farm tour and the apples. You will pick apples by pecks so below is how it works You buy a $6.00 ticket to visit the farm and ride the hay ride then you will pay for the apples you pick: Quarter peck is $4.00 Half Peck is $6.00 Whole peck is $12.00 So you choose one to pick and that s the money you need. You will need to bring a lunch for a picnic that day on the farm. Please be at Locust Grove Rec Center by 8am on September 27th REMEMBER Don t let anyone steal your sparkle!
