September was a frightful and memorable month. Some great memories and some we will never forget but wish we could. For those that are still putting the pieces together from the aftermath of Florence our love and prayers are with you. Please do not hesitate to let us know if we can help in any way. One great memory for the month of September was our Poker Night Potluck Party. Everyone had a great time. As always, Rosemary & Robert Haney, Nancy Wrenn, Penny Council, and Joyce & Richard Ramos hosted a night full of fun. Our own, DJ Steve Miller, kept the dance floor full all night. Many thanks to everyone who came, brought food, and enjoyed the night. I would like to say welcome to the 11 guest who attended and look forward to your return visits. Linda Gurnik was the lucky winner of the ½ & ½ drawing and carried home $ I would like to personally thank everyone for your help during my absence in August and September. is not run by one person, it takes everyone working together. Every member and guest is extremely important to the success of our club. Thank you for everything you do and continue to do. It is truly a honor to be a part of the Family. October, November, and December will be busy months for. Please make sure you mark your calendar for the upcoming meeting dates and parties. October 27 th, at 7:00pm, will be our Chili Party hosted by Ray and Kathi Baloyot. Ray has won many awards for his chili at chili cook off competitions. Our DJ for the night will be Mike Harding. 4 Meeting Minutes: SEPTEMBER BUSINESS MEETING September 11, 2018 Vice-President, Norm Russ, welcomed everyone who attended the monthly meeting of the Fayetteville Shag on September 11, There were not enough members present to consider a quorum; therefore, no official business could be voted on and passed at this meeting. The Treasurer s Report was handed out and explained by Treasurer, Johnny Boyles. There was are minder that SOS was to begin September 14 th, and, according to Dwayne Baggett, it is still scheduled to be held as far as he knew, even though Hurricane Florence is looming on the coast. Our September party will be held on September 29 th. It will be a potluck party, so all members are asked to bring a dish to be shared by all. The theme for our party is Poker Night. There will be plenty of gifts and prizes. Our DJ for the night is Steve Miller. We hope that everyone will be safe during the impending storm. The meeting was adjourned. Member cost is $5 each month and guests are $8 each visit. Meetings held at VFW Post 5631, 1500 Webb Str., Sanford, NC, from 7:30-11:30 PM. DJ s vary each month SamCo Shag Club Events for SamCo Shag Club for 2017 will be held at either Coharie Country Club, 101 Coharie Drive, Clinton NC or at the Clinton Moose Lodge located at 2720 West Main St. in Clinton NC Please see our web site calendar for details: com/ Moore Shag Society PO Box 992 Southern Pines, NC The Southern Pines Elks Lodge is the home of the Moore Shag Society. The regular dances are held the 1st Saturday of each month downstairs in the lounge where there is a nice 18 x 18 wood dance floor surrounded by mirrors on 3 walls. Seating is available between the dance floor area and DJ and the bar. Cover charge is $7 and the club provides appetizers and desserts for members and guests. Approximately members attend each monthly social starting at 7 pm. The Moore Shag Society also sponsors 2 to 3 larger parties each year held upstairs in the ballroom. (HASA) Dance Parties are held on the second Friday of every month at the Shrine Club in Dunn located at 211 North Clinton Ave. For more information please see web site:
