1 MISSION Queen of All Saints School is a culturally diverse Catholic community dedicated to developing the whole child with compassion and integrity. Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Oakland educate children in the Catholic faith and nurture their minds, bodies, and soul, inspiring them to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ, achieve their highest academic and creative potential, and actively serve and enrich the community. Dear Queen of All Saints Families, SAINTS Scoop Newsletter September 26, 2018 We are so excited for this Saturday s big Social Event The Queen of All Saints School Dinner Auction. As a reminder, this event is free to all Queen of All Saints families (adults only), as a way for us to gather and have fun as a community. Twenty local restaurants are providing food for the event, one of our school families will be the DJ for the evening, and you will be able to capture the fun at the photo booth that will be set up in the lobby. There will be silent and live auctions for you to bid on to get a jumpstart on your Christmas shopping or to pick up a trinket or two for yourself. Roaring 20 s themed dress is optional. So, order your complimentary tickets and we will see you Saturday evening We are happy to once again host monthly bake sales along with our School Family Mass. We join the QAS Knights of Columbus in the Parish Hall on the first Sunday of each month for their pancake breakfast and our bake sale following the morning Masses. This is a much -loved event with the school and parish coming together to sell and purchase home-baked goods. If you would like to bake goodies for the sale, or if you would like to volunteer to sell goods after one of the Masses, please sign up on the Sign Up Genius (coming soon). Only home-baked items will be accepted and will be eligible for volunteer hours credit. We can already smell the delicious pies and cakes Blessings, Lucia Prince Pictured, Preschool Birdhouse Each class has made a special Birdhouse that will be available at the auction.

If you have any questions, please contact Erleen Richards at erleen.richards@gmail.com LESSONS FOR THE SUNDAY GOSPELS (sermons4kids.com) Pass the Salt, Please Everyone knows about salt -- we use it every day to make our food taste better. Can you imagine eating a hamburger and fries without salt? They would be pretty tasteless, wouldn't they? Some of you may not know that making our food taste better is just one of many uses for salt. I read that salt is used in making over 14,000 different products. Here are just a few of the many uses of salt: Salt is used in fixing the dye in fabrics like this pretty shirt. Without salt, the bright colors that we wear today would quickly wash out of our fabrics. What a dull place the world would be without salt Salt is also used in making leather. Without salt we would not have many of the leather products that we use every day-- like this belt. Salt is used in the chemical industry to make plastics. Without salt, we might not have many of the toys that we play with every day which are made from plastic. Man has known about the usefulness of salt for many years. At one time, salt was so important that people were paid with salt. Since salt is so important, is it any wonder that Jesus told us that we were to be like salt to the world? Listen to the words of Jesus. "Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can you make it 3
4 salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with each other." I think that he was saying that we should flavor our world with love and that we should allow him to use us in making the world a better place. How about you? Are you allowing Jesus to use you to be salt to the world? Dear Father, help us to flavor our world with love and to allow you to use us in making the world a better place. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Note: Information concerning uses of salt was obtained from the New Cheshire Salt Works Ltd website.
