Join us in the rotunda at 5:00 for punch followed at 5:30 in the theater for the formal presentation. There will be door prizes and some vendors are offering a 10% discount if you wish to shop and support our vendors after the presentation. 2 February CPQ Meeting Minutes The February meeting was called to order with 51 members and 1 visitor. February birthdays were recognized as printed in the newsletter. Refreshments were provided by Phyllis Rother, Bea Grant, Nan Powell, Elaine Walsh, and Linda Murray. Thank you! Our program this month was by Cleo Ward and Pat Schroder on beading and quilts. They both shared different examples of their work, all of which were amazing! Beading can be used as part of the design, to highlight or emphasize a certain part of the quilt, or to showcase a certain bead. Pat recommended videos by Jill Wiseman on YouTube if you re interested in learning more. The minutes from January s meeting were approved by June Sanders and Donna Phillips. The treasurer s report was accepted as published. Linda Parrish from the Country Register came to announce a quilt show that she is organizing at the Crawford Chamber of Commerce in May. The show will run from May 11 May 21 and is open to anyone wanting to exhibit a quilt or any other type of fiber art. Quilts will need to be delivered May 1 May 3. There will be prizes based on people s choice. Several committees made announcements as follows: Receiving went smoothly and everyone is working hard to prepare for the show. Thanks for everyone s help so far and in the coming days. Don t forget about the HST and 4 patch blocks in fall colors for the Charity Bee. Different quilt show committees need everyone s help! Frances Arnold still needs help with hanging and please consider signing up to be a hostess or to help sell raffle tickets. Terri also announced that the scissor sharpening person is coming. Don t forget to like and share the guild Facebook page! The food committee is asking for help in providing food for the show. They are looking for sandwiches, sweets and breakfast items. They can also use water and sodas. Please label all of your dishes and be prepared to pick them up on Sunday afternoon. June announced that we have already sold $1513 in raffle tickets. The guild had a goal of selling $2000 by the show. Thanks to everyone who did their part in selling those tickets. Cleo issued a new challenge for us to be due at the June meeting. The challenge is called Spots in My Log Cabin and more information can be found online. Please make sure your polka dot fabric is a true polka dot. If confused, double check with Cleo. The March program will be a review/synopsis of the show. In April, our show will be from Karen Stockwell with a workshop on Wednesday, April 12 at Green Acres on the Deconstructed Wedding Ring. The cost for the workshop is $25. 2

3 The April retreat will be held at the FFA camp in Covington from April The cost is $165 per person. Please speak with Joan if you have any questions regarding the retreat. Door prizes were awarded to Ruhanna Neal, Kathleen Bodner, and Elaine Walsh. Sue Brassard and Phyllis Rother brought their quilts to share. Thanks! -Hanna Chupp Upcoming Programs and Workshops The March guild program will be a review of the quilt show. The April guild program will be Karen Stockwell. She will have a lecture about round robins and will also have a workshop the following day entitled "deconstructed wedding ring". The workshop will be April 12, 2017 beginning at 10:00am at Green Acres Baptist church in Athens. The cost is $25 and needs to be prepaid. There is a supply list that will be available at the March meeting, or you can contact Sheila Shepherd. You will also need to buy the pattern for $10 and Karen will have those at the guild meeting and day of the workshop. She will also be bringing her other patterns for sale at the guild meeting. Space is limited and we are already 20% full, so don't wait to sign up! ~Sheila Shepherd 3

4 SHOW NEWS!! SHOW OPENING Show committees are setting up and hanging the quilts on Thursday. Remember that when you come Thursday to the Show Members-Only Reception starting at 5:00 in the Rotunda, there is NO PEEKING at the Show. The Show Presentation starts at 5:30 in the theater. If you need anything sharpened, Tom the Knife Man will be available after the presentation. Vendors will also be open after the presentation for you shopping pleasure. RAFFLE QUILT Cotton Patch Members "Our Quilt Show is almost here! What an amazing job y'all have done on selling tickets. We have met our goal of of over $2000 before the show, $ , GREAT!! All the tickets and money have not been turned in, when you turn them in at the show PLEASE have them in an envelope with your name on it. Thanks to all that signed up to sell raffle tickets at the show, every slot is filled! The drawing for the raffle quilt and winners of the packed full gift baskets will be March 14th, at our guild meeting. A grand total will be announced as well. Thanks again for making this a very successful fund raiser. June Sanders, Fund Raising Committee Teresa Cash is looking to commission someone to quilt two quilt tops that she has made.
