5 Brookville Middle School Cross Country This Saturday, Aug. 20th is a Time Trial Meet at Golden Gate Park. The Middle School Girls race will begin at 10:15 and the Middle School Boys race will begin at 10:30. The athletes need to be at Golden Gate by 9:30 in their uniforms to warm-up. Athletes may want to wear clothes on top of their uniform to warm-up and for hanging out after the race. If it is cold, athletes may wear black clothing underneath their uniform top or bottoms during the race, because the uniform must be the top layer. After the races, we will walk parts of the course to clean up low branches and fallen sticks. If you have trimmers to bring, those could be helpful. About 12:00 we will be finished working on the course and there will be a family picnic. Each family should bring a covered dish and/or dessert to share, along with their own drinks and tableware. During the picnic we will also go over some important information regarding the season, what to expect, and the need for volunteers at the home meets. We will also have a sign-up to host pasta dinners before meets as well as to supply recovery food the day of a meet. Beginning next Monday, Aug. 22 nd we will have practice from 3:00-5:00 beginning and ending from the outdoor classroom shelter by the high school parking lot. Monday-Thursday practice will be from 3-5 and Friday practice will be from 3-4:30 before our first pasta dinner and home meet on Saturday. We are looking forward to a great season! Coach Fortener
