The 60 th anniversary Blue Peter badge was designed by the famous British international fashion designer Henry Holland to celebrate 60 amazing years of Blue Peter. Although the diamonds are not real, because so few will be issued, they will be priceless. Olivia Harkins from Maples has been awarded this very special achievement. She has done this by writing to Blue Peter to tell them about how she has inspired and helped her sister to walk and her bravery in completing the zip wire with extreme courage at Pioneer. Olivia already has the ordinary Blue Peter badge, purple badge, green badge and the sliver badge. 13 th June Environment Day/Drayton Manor trip 27 th June Moving up Day 18 th -29 th June Year 10 Work Experience week 9 th July School Prom 12 th July Summer Fayre 12 th July Drama Performance Bridge House 16 th July Picnic parents invited 20 th July End of Summer Term Page 1 of 11

4 Facts For the Week! Bobcats are the most common wildcat found in North America, and true to their name look exactly like slightly overgrown cats. Bigger than your typical house cat, bobcats are too small to hunt people like the more dangerous lion would (under the right circumstances). Though it might seem like adults would have more bones, it is actually the opposite! Children, when they are born, have a total of 270 bones. By the time that they reach adulthood, however, that number has shrunk to 206 Initially the kingdoms of Upper and Lower Egypt were separate and around 3100 B.C. they came together under a powerful king. Kings were later called pharaohs. These kings built massive temples, pyramids and other monuments, many of which you can still see today. Bet you think a computer is the best thing in the world right? Think it s super speedy and can do everything? Well it s not. Welcome to the brain it s much more powerful than any super computer you can find! Think about when you have to act in a hurry, maybe a glass is just about to fall off the table. Your brain controls everything that you need to do to save that glass from falling. First your eyes check out what s going on, then tells your brain how quickly you need to react, and then your muscles spring into action. That is super speedy timing and is just from one little organ in our bodies. No computer could ever come close to that! Cool hey. Page 4 of 11
