2 SCRUM V SIX NATIONS SPECIAL Sunday, February 5 BBC One Wales, #BBCSixNations The 2017 Six Nations Championship is under way and Scrum V Six Nations Special is a preview of this year s tournament. Can Rob Howley s Wales go one better than last year s second place, and win their first Championship since 2013? Ross Harries and Catrin Heledd are joined by Ian Gough, Sean Holley, Jeremy Guscott and journalist Stephen Jones to discuss and analyse Wales' opening match against Italy, Scotland at home to Ireland, and tournament favourites, England against France. Each week, the team exposes scams, poor service and reveals the dodgy deals to avoid. This week, X-Ray goes undercover to reveal the dubious sales tactics of one Swansea double glazing firm. 4 GARETH WYN JONES - MILK MAN Monday, February 6 BBC One Wales, 8.30pm #BBCMilkMan In just 15 years the number of dairy farmers in Wales has halved - and on average every month three farmers are leaving the industry. In a brand new three-part series, Gareth Wyn Jones - Milk Man, the hill farmer from Llanfairfechan is on a mission to find out if there s any future for the Welsh dairy farm. At the Royal Welsh Show he finds farmers who are brutally honest about the challenges they face. In a bid to be more competitive some have borrowed heavily and invested in big herds and hi-tech parlours - but with the price of milk recently at a 10-year-low they face a lifetime paying off debts. Ian Gethin, a second-generation farmer from Caersws, has decided to call it a day and sell off his herd. It s an emotional scene as his last cow is loaded onto a lorry to be sold at market. Determined to make an impact and get the public on side, Gareth takes to the streets of Llandudno with a cow he s borrowed from Anglesey farmer Iwan Huws. But will he find any shoppers who can tell him how much a pint of milk is? Melfyn Clwyd Roberts 4

5 CARDIFF: LIVING ON THE STREETS Tuesday, February 7 BBC One Wales, 10.40pm #oncardiffstreets Cardiff: Living on the Streets shows the extent of the crisis facing homeless people in the capital. Roshelle is only 20 years old but due to family issues she is homeless and has been on the streets for five years. Female rough sleepers are particularly vulnerable so Roshelle copes by sleeping during the day when the town is busiest and stays alert at night. Roshelle, like many other homeless people, is in the grip of substance abuse. Alcohol and drug dependency are a huge challenge for both support agencies and the rough sleepers themselves. Roshelle is trapped by her heroin addiction - she steals to fund the habit, which then leads to prison. Even at such a young age Roshelle has lost hope in the system and fears she will spend the rest of her life on the streets. Offering more help and support than other areas in Wales, Cardiff draws in homeless people from all over the country with the vast majority coming from the south Wales valleys. When Rhondda-born Carl suffered a relationship breakdown and found himself without a roof over his head he came to the capital. There he spent nights sleeping on the floor of the Huggard Centre, the only available space left at the hostel due to high demand. Carl dreams of having a place of his own to get his life back on track but as suitable housing is so scarce is there any hope for him? Sara Jones 5

6 WALES WOMEN: INSIDE THE SCRUM Thursday, February 9 BBC Two Wales, 7.30pm #BBCSixNations February 11 will be a big moment in the Welsh women s rugby calendar with the Wales v England game broadcast for the first time ever on the BBC - live from their new home ground, Cardiff Arms Park. At this exciting turning point in Wales Women s Rugby, Wales Women: Inside the Scrum follows the team from the moment the Six Nations squad is unveiled, preparing for the first away game against Italy, right up to the final preparations for their home match against England. As the women battle for a coveted place on the team, training hard under the watchful eye of former Wales and Lions player Rowland Phillips, there will also be a chance to get a glimpse into their home lives. With a diverse range of careers under their belts - from teachers and stay-at-home mothers to businesswomen - it s a massive juggling act for them. Will the women be able to show the level of commitment needed to beat their bitter rivals England? Cerys Rees 6

7 WEATHERMAN WALKING Friday, February 10 BBC One Wales, 7.30pm Derek s final instalment has a very personal connection to his contributors, who have overcome injury and disability to get out and about. He starts in Pembrokeshire, in the quiet fishing village of Porthgain, to meet local seaman Captain Brian Thomas who spent weeks in a coma after collapsing when out walking. They explore the area s industrial past and soak in the stunning sea views. Derek heads up to RSPB Conwy to meet Nicola Cockburn who s been blind since birth, and find out what s involved when she goes out walking. And Derek hears more about how her passion for bird watching helps enrich her walks. Sara Jones 7

Jim asks her to accompany him to the inquest into Courtney s death. Sara is shocked when Jason tells her he s accepted their relationship is over, especially after seeing Melissa flirting with Jason in the Deri. Sara s jealousy gets the better of her and she tries to find out if Jason went home with Melissa. To celebrate Welsh Language Music Day, the group Bendith perform a gig at the Deri. Gwawr Jones 8
