Due to the large response we are in need of more team managers to accommodate the numbers. Right now we only have ONE team manager, meaning we can only make ONE team. If you have any interest in helping out being a team manager or would like more information about what a team manager does please contact me- Bekah Sagor- as soon as possible. We need help Tuesdays 2:30-4:00, Thursdays 2:30-4:00, I am also open to meeting times later in the afternoon/evening if you are interested in being a team manager but after school does not work. 2 THANK YOU HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE! Middle School teachers were treated to a delicious Mediterranean dinner during the October 9 th Parent Teacher Conferences. Teachers want to express their gratitude to the entire committee for organizing, cooking and cleaning up after the meal. THANK YOU! Picture Retakes Did you miss picture day or just want a different picture? Lifetouch will return to Quest on October 25 th. If you want retakes, please return you original package on October 25 th. If you still want to order pictures, envelopes were sent home with students or you can place an order at mylifetouch.com Aurora Quest K-8 Picture Day ID: CG908052Y1 1 st 5 th Grade Parent Teacher Conferences Links for Sign-up Genius were sent out last week. If your 1 st 5 th grade family did not receive a conference notification, please call Ms. Stoeber at after she returns from fall break on October 22. Conferences will be held on October 24 th and November 1 st. The Hospitality Committee is looking for help and donations of food for both conference nights. Sign-up links to the Hospitality Committee were also sent out last week, but can be found on the Aurora Quest PTA Facebook page. HALLOWEEN AT AQK8 Students in all grade levels are welcome to wear costumes on Wednesday, October 31st. There will be no class parties, although there will be a Costume Parade for students in grades K-5 at 2:00PM. Costume guidelines: Students should wear their costumes to school and be prepared to wear them all day. Costumes should not distract from learning, either your child s or another s. No masks of any kind may be worn. No face paint. No costumes with sound effects, lights or other components that may disrupt the learning environment. Costumes should be modest, tasteful and appropriate for a school environment. Costumes must permit students to sit and participate in the learning process for the day. Students with P.E. should wear or bring shoes that are safe for P.E. activities. Because we have younger students on our campus, we ask that scary characters not be part of the day. (Scream, Chuckie, Jason, etc.) Toy or facsimile weapons are not allowed. (swords, guns, knives, etc.) Students whose costumes do not meet the standards will be asked to call home for a change of clothing.

3 Sweet Tomatoes Spirit Night The chaos of getting back into the school week schedule just got reduced! We have a restaurant spirit night the Tuesday after break ends. No cooking and a healthy meal, with Quest earning some money! Mark your calendars for Quest spirit night at Sweet Tomatoes on October 23. Flyers are in your Friday Folder. Bring your family and friends out to enjoy a healthy dinner and support Quest at the same time. See you there! USAgain Recycling Contest $$$$ Are you doing some housecleaning over fall break? If you decide to clean out your overflowing closets, we know what you can do with your unwanted textiles. From October 15 th through November 15 th, 2018 USAgain is holding a contest to see which school can collect the most textiles for recycling. Three top recycling schools from each region will win cash prizes of $200, $150 and $100! All schools will raise funds based on the pounds of clothing and shoes recycled. Textiles in ANY condition are welcome. Even torn, stained, unwearable items will be recycled and put to use. Thank you Nick s Garden Center Have you seen that sign for Nick s Garden Center in our community garden? Did you know that this locally owned small business has graciously sponsored our garden since it opened a few years ago? This year, in addition to supporting the garden, they also agreed to donate to the fall festival! If you need more fall in your life, please stop by to tell them thank you for supporting Quest students! They are roasting chilies and kettle corn just waiting for you to visit their fall festival too!

4 Volunteers Needed for the Fall Festival We are reaching out and asking for your help to make this year's fall festival on October 26 th from 4-7pm one to remember! This year people who volunteer the day of to supervise (run) or create a game (sponsor) will automatically be entered to win a door prize! To keep the profits at the school; we would like to host the event without hiring a company. We have an array of volunteer opportunities for you to choose from so please take a look: 1. Help the day of with setup, clean up, concessions, and supervise games. 2. Create or donate a game for the kids to play that evening. We have a list to choose from on the Sign Up Genius or you can create your own. Just look for the rows labeled "Sponsor". Not sure what this may entail but want to help? Please contact us and we can help you Donate items such as Halloween candy (we will need lots!), wrapped baked goods for the cake walk, and other items The link for the Sign Up Genius is: TICKETS ON SALE NOW! Fall Festival wristbands are $10 for children, adults are admitted for free. Food and beverages prices vary, but menus for the food trucks will be posted on the Quest PTA Facebook page prior to the event. You may purchase wristbands before school, at the festival or right now online at: Skate City TODAY! Come join us for our October Skate City Night from 4-6 on October 11th! This time Skate City gave us a cool promotion, $5 Game Card for each paid admission! Students may also ride the bus to and from the event at 3:30, returning at 6:00. At this time, a bus Chaperone (3:30-6:20 meeting at Quest) and a volunteer to check students in as they arrive (2:45-3:45 at Skate City) are needed. This time allows families with younger children an opportunity to come out and play, but all are welcome to come and kick off Fall Break. There are prizes for the classroom having the highest attendance. Please join us for fun on skates! Skate City is located at E Girard Ave.
