1 Central Springs PantherS Nora Springs Campus: Elementary & Middle School Manly Campus: Elementary & High School November 2018 Senior Citizen annual Fall Dinner Central Springs Schools Thursday, November 9, 1:00 pm TURKEY MEAL WITH ALL THE TRIMMINGS! Reservations Call: Nora Springs or Manly Anyone 55 or older that lives in the school district or former employees are welcome! A Veteran s Day assembly will be held in the big gym at Nora Springs on Monay, November 9:00 am. Please join us! Veterans Day will be observed at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 12 th in the high school gymnasium on the Manly Central Springs campus. This year s guest speaker will be Sean Haggerty who has served as a US Navy SEAL Chief, Sniper, Breacher and Point Man for 11 Years. He served on 4 deployments consisting of 3 tours in Iraq and over 116 Combat Missions. He also worked as a Hell Week Navy SEAL Instructor and was featured as an Instructor on The History Channel s The Selection: Special Operations Experiment. Haggerty is also a certified SEALFIT coach, as well as a corporate and leadership coach. National Honor Society Can Drive The National Honor Society will be hosting their annual can drive from November 26-December 7th. Please bring in nonperishable items that are not expired. If you have any questions, please contact Michael Pettengill at mpettengill@centralsprings.net Fall conferences will be held Thursday, November 1 st and Tuesday, November 6 from 3:30-7:30 each night. Early dismissal at 2:05 both days. There will be NO PM PRESCHOOL either day, but daycare will be open regular hours.
2 Central Springs High School Choir November News Congratulations to our 8 vocal students who braved the 2018 All State auditions in Hampton on Saturday, October 20. We are taking monetary donations, which can be sent to school with your student. No donation is too big or small! Book fair will be open during conferences November 1 and November 6.

The Scholastic Book Fair will be set up in the school library beginning October 29th thru Nov 6th. If your child has scholastic dollars/certificates this is a great time to use them. Make sure and come check out our books during conferences. Books make great Christmas gifts! We will begin selling frozen pies and soups just in time for the holidays. Be on the lookout for the flyer in your child's bag and on our Facebook page. We will have all items available before Thanksgiving. ACT Testing Information Register online at: ACT TESTING DATE REGISTRATION DEADLINE December 8, 2018 November 2, 2018 February 9, 2019 January 11, 2019 April 13, 2019 March 8, 2019 June 8, 2019 May 3, 2019 July 13, 2019 June 14, 2019 Seniors and Parents/Guardians: General scholarships can be found on the Central Springs website under the "Guidance" page. The Local and NIACC scholarships will be posted at a later date. FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is available for seniors/parents to complete and should be done ASAP. Complete this online at: studentaid.ed.gov/sa/fafsa. If you have further questions or concerns regarding the above information, please contact Amy Fessler at or afessler@centralsprings.net. Central Springs Music Boosters The purpose of the Music Boosters is to provide support to the high school band and choir. We have supplemented trip expenses, music camps, musical costumes, instrument needs, and more. We do this through the coordination of sales of drinks at all indoor home sporting events. We are a small group of dedicated music parents and would eagerly welcome new members! The next meeting will be held Thursday, November 15 at 6:30 at the high school.
4 Used-a-Bit Sale The Central Springs National Honor Society is hosting a Used-A-Bit Sale on December 13th through the 19th. Donations will be accepted until the morning of December 13th in the Manly Elementary office near the main entrance doors. If there are any questions, contact Michael Pettengill at mpettengill@centralsprings.net. Thank you! A Used-A-Bit Sale for the 4 th & 5 th graders will be held December 13 th and 14 th at the Nora Springs Middle School. Donated items may be brought to Mrs. Brown by December 10th. Contact Amy Brown at abrown@centralsprings.net if you have any questions. Youth wrestling practice for grades K-6 will be held every Tuesday in Nora Springs & Thursday in Manly. Practice times will be: 6:00-7:00 for K-2 nd grade 7:00-8:00 for 3 rd -6 th grade The first night of practice will be: Nora Springs location - Tuesday, November 13 th Manly location - Thursday, November 15 th $20 Entry Fee Includes shirt & shorts (Make check payable to: CS Youth Wrestling) Sign-up/Pre-registration is encouraged: Nora Springs-Tuesday, November 6 th from 6:00-7:00 Manly-Thursday, November 8 th from 6:00-7:00 Coaches will be available for questions.
