2 BEFORE YOU TRYOUT CHECKLIST It s nt enugh t just want t be a spiritline member. Befre trying ut, evaluate yur mtives: Make sure yu are fully willing t practice and wrk lng, hard hurs; be sure yu can meet the physical and academic qualificatins and can handle the time cmmitment and respnsibility invlved. Please cnsider auditining if, and ONLY IF, yu will enjy it n matter what, aside frm all the ther stress factrs in yur life, jb, schl, clubs, etc. Evaluate yur situatin very clsely. By chsing t auditin, yu are chsing t cmmit t enjying everything that Spiritline encmpasses. A ptential spiritline member shuld: have a grade pint average that meets r surpasses the academic standard set by the team have permissin frm parent/guardian be in gd physical cnditin and able t withstand strenuus activity (running, jumping, lifting, tumbling, etc.) be able t purchase required unifrms and cver all necessary expenses invlved be able t attend all practices, games, clinics, etc. have a desire t be a schl leader A spiritline member is required t: Prmte and uphld schl spirit; Set a gd example as a schl representative Lead cheers and perfrm rutines at schl events Develp a sense f gd sprtsmanship amng student bdy Be present and punctual fr all practice sessins and required games Build a gd wrking relatinship with all members f the squad Have a neat, well-grmed appearance Abide by spiritline rules

3 ELIGIBILITY: Must be attending Pinnacle High Schl during 4th quarter when tryuts take place. Auditins are pen t current Freshmen, Sphmres, & Junir girls Must be medically fit and prvide current physical, district paperwrk, and signed cntract n file with the athletic department Must maintain passing grades in all classes at all times, hld a 2.5 GPA, and maintain satisfactry teacher evaluatins Must have submitted all necessary paperwrk fr auditins n-time Must nt be a member f any ther cheer team r rganizatin TRYOUTS: There is a MANDATORY parent AND athlete meeting Mnday, April 3rd, 7 pm in the F Lecture Hall. At least ne parent is required t attend alng with candidate. Permissin slip & Candidate agreement will be distributed and cllected at that time ONLY. There will be practices fr tryuts fr bth cheer and dance. These are mandatry in rder t auditin. NO VIDEO RECORDING IS ALLOWED. Tryut clinics will be held Mnday thrugh Thursday, April 17 th -20th frm 2:30-4:30 pm. Please meet in the small gym fr the initial meeting. Tryuts will be held n Friday, April 21 st, 2016 frm 4:00pm 9:00/10:00 pm. Candidates are auditining fr Varsity & Junir Varsity psitins n cheer r pm teams. What t wear: DANCE: Girls auditining fr dance may wear shrts r jazz pants, a fitted tp f their chice, and either tennis shes r dance shes may be wrn. Hair shuld be secured away frm the face, preferably in a bun. Light makeup is recmmended. Bring a water bttle. CHEER: Girls auditining fr cheer may wear shrts and fitted tp f their chice in schl clrs and will wear athletic type tennis shes. Hair shuld be secured away frm the face, preferably in a bun. Light makeup is recmmended. Bring water bttle. Nails must be shrt and natural. NO JEWELRY IS ALLOWED. NO SPIRITLINE ATTIRE ALLOWED DURING FRIDAY EVALUATIONS. Team Selectin: Imprtant pints t be judged ~ Technique f skills executin, crdinatin, rhythm, persnality, appearance, pise, shwmanship, and knwledge and ability t learn quickly. Als taken int cnsideratin will be teacher recmmendatins, grades, and previus participatin, attitude & behavir as a previus member. *Imprtant just because a girl was n a squad last seasn, it DOES NOT guarantee her a spt n the team fr the upcming seasn. There will be between girls selected fr Varsity Cheer, girls fr Varsity Pm, & the Junir Varsity team will each cnsist f 8-16 members. Girls will indicate what teams they are willing t participate n which will be cnsidered during the evaluatin prcess. Names f girls selected fr spiritline will be annunced immediately fllwing tryuts.

4 The tryut clinics, the auditin and the annuncement are clsed t parents, friends, etc. Parents and friends may wait utside the gymnasium building. There will be n verbal discussins between parents and caches r judges fllwing tryuts. All parent questins regarding tryuts can be directed in letter frmat via t the directr r cach. The cach will make every effrt t respnd t parent s request in a timely fashin. We are happy t prvide feedback, but will NOT discuss scres. Varsity Overview Seasn runs frm May March 2018 Participatin requirements include 3-4 days f practices/wrkuts per week, summer mrning practices, camp Varsity Ftball games (10), Hme Basketball games (10-12), selected away games, Selected sccer & wrestling meets Team fundraisers, appearances, 12 hurs cmmunity service 6-7 lcal cmpetitins, 1 reginal/natinal cmpetitin Junir Varsity Overview- Seasn runs frm May 2017-Nvember 1, 2017 (pprtunities t cntinue int basketball seasn may be cnsidered clser t Winter seasn) Participatin requirements include 2-3 days f practices/wrkuts per week, JV & FRESHMEN HOME ftball (10), selected Varsity Hme ftball games (2), ptential fr selected basketball games 6 hurs cmmunity service, team fundraisers, team appearances SCHEDULE ~ SPRING: New Team Meeting fr Parents & members: Required Mnday, April 24th, 7 pm F Lecture Hall, reviewing/signing full team cnstitutin, detailing fundraisers, discussing imprtant dates, establishing cmmunicatin expectatins $500 payment is due this day, and then every 2 weeks until balance is paid in full. Must be paid in full 2 weeks prir t camp, that s June 4th. Practices fr members: April 24th - May 18th, Mnday s, Wednesday s, and Thursday s 2:30-4:00 pm *There will be n practice the week f finals May 23 rd -27 TH Tumbling: Required f ALL JV & Varsity Cheer members Desert Strm Elite Tuesday s 3:00-4:30 pm, May 2017 thrugh March 2018, with the exceptin f July. Mnthly dues - Average $75.00/mnth paid t the gym

5 SUMMER: June Practices- Required: 100% cmmitment t remain eligible fr Varsity squad. Junir Varsity members are permitted t request absences fr regular practices nly AND nly with advance ntice and with apprval frm cach, but will be subjected t Absence Plicy as stated in team manual. Absences may affect participatin during camp, like fr Hme Rutine, etc. All Summer practices begin Tuesday, May 30th thrugh Thursday, June 29th Practices: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 7am-9:30 am Dress rehearsal, Thursday 6/15, 6 pm-7 pm Summer camp - Required by all members Summer camp is required f all members, Varsity & Junir Varsity. The purpse f camp is t learn new material and skills and team bnding. Summer camp is clsed t parents/spectatrs except fr annunced perfrmance times. July Practices: Summer Break - n practice June 30th - July 30th FALL/WINTER: **Mandatry reprt fr practice ~ Mnday, July 31st 8:00 am fr intensives, chregraphy, wrkuts, etc.** Freshman Camp perfrmance, Varsity nly - Mnday, August 7th?? After schl practices begins Wednesday, August 9th, first day f schl. Varsity nly - cmpetitin seasn starts Nvember 1st. 7 PHS Spiritline Participatin Intent Frm During the tryuts, candidates will be ranked accrding t scres frm a panel f judges. Candidates with the highest scres wh meet all ther qualificatins will be placed n the Varsity squad. All Varsity members will serve as members f ur cmpetitin team. Varsity members may be placed as Alternates fr the cmpetitin team at anytime thrughut the seasn. Individuals that scre belw the natural break and meet all ther qualificatins will be placed n the Junir Varsity squad. It is ur hpe that regardless f squad placement, members will be eager and excited t becme a member f the Spiritline rganizatin at Pinnacle High Schl.
