1 Role Profile Post: Relationship Development Manager Salary: 50,000-60,000 Location Reporting to: Contract: London or Bolton with national travel Project Director (North or South dependent on candidate location) 40 hours per week, Permanent Benefits: 5% matched contribution Pension; 25 days holidays (rising incrementally) & bank holidays; Birthday Leave; retailer & leisure discounts Main Purpose To support and facilitate the growth of the national network of OnSide Youth Zones through developing and managing key strategic partnerships and leading our early engagement with Local Authorities, partner agencies, OnSide supporters and others. Context of the Role OnSide was established as a charity in 2008 to create Youth Zones across the UK. It has been growing rapidly ever since and has hugely exciting and ambitious plans to continue and accelerate this growth. Youth Zones are high quality, inspirational and well-run places, claiming only to offer young people somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to, but in reality provide so much more than this, changing many thousands of young lives, now on an incredible scale. We have a network of ten Youth Zones, our role being to support both the existing network and create new Youth Zones across the UK. The next three Youth Zones to open are in London, with two following in the North West. Each Youth Zone starts with up to 6.5 million capital project, creating a new local charity, which will open seven days a week, with state-ofthe-art facilities, delivering over 20 sporting, artistic, cultural and general recreational activities per session with additional targeted services also provided. Youth Zones are a proven model of youth service provision that is aligned to community needs and supported by cross-sector funding. Youth Zones give 8-19 year olds, and up to 25 for young people with a disability, affordable access to a broad range of sport, arts and employability services, designed to help them lead active, positive lives and raise their aspirations for themselves and their community. At the heart of the Onside Youth Zones Network is not only a hugely successful partnership between public, private and third sector organisations, the local community and young people themselves, but also by an overwhelmingly passionate and dedicated workforce, who are committed to improving the lives of young people throughout the UK. OnSide has a relatively small, specialist team, with the range of skills needed to develop, build and open Youth Zones all over the UK. We are now seeking to strengthen that team to enable us to meet our rapid growth plans.

2 The Role As part of our UK-wide growth, we have five live projects across the country and several more in development. Our aim is to successfully open four new Youth Zones every year in suitable locations across the country. We therefore need to add to our experienced team to help us deliver this aim, by developing and managing key strategic partnerships and leading our engagement with local authorities, partner agencies, supporters and others. Youth Zones enjoy a wide range of public sector partnerships, including with Councils, health, housing, education and transport providers, police, fire and probation services, youth offending teams, as well as third sector organisations whose work compliments the Youth Zone offer. Local authority relationships are particularly crucial as the local council s support is a crucial starting point for every project. Working closely with the Project Directors, the successful candidate will develop, build and lead positive relationships with key Council officers and a range of other public, private and third sector partners. Key Duties To support the Project Directors to progress future Youth Zone projects, ensuring that they remain on track and that all the critical success factors and sufficient resources are in place to deliver ahead of agreed deadlines. Support the delivery of the organisational target of opening four new Youth Zones per year To work with relevant officers in target Local Authorities, to develop Youth Zones in their area and to positively promote the benefits and opportunity presented by an OnSide Youth Zone. To engage with other statutory bodies, such as the police, health services and others, to further build positive partnerships and opportunities for new Youth Zones. With the Partnership and Community Engagement Manager and Project Directors, to act as first point of contact for all partner agencies. To ensure that effective work streams are maintained to deliver the required momentum, and that the whole team is regularly briefed on progress. To work closely to support and assist OnSide s network of key supporters, who help to promote OnSide and Youth Zones across the country, ensuring they are fully engaged, supported and regularly briefed, maintaining their understanding and interest To actively raise the profile of OnSide and Youth Zones in individual local authority areas and across the UK. To act as an advocate on behalf of OnSide, supporting the communications strategy, and making the case for Youth Zones, responding effectively to queries, or concerns where they arise. To represent OnSide at various meetings, forums, events and conferences. Any other roles or duties necessary for the post. To deputise in a wide range of activities currently undertaken by the Project Directors, all relating to future Youth Zones. The Person Experience You will: Have worked successfully with local authorities and/or other public-sector agencies

3 Have developed sound working relationships within local authorities and with other statutory bodies. Have delivered on a range of successful projects, with demonstrable experience of taking the role of Project Lead Have successfully contributed to and implemented strategies and delivery plans Have experience of negotiating and agreeing contracts Demonstrate sound commercial skills, gained through successful account/relationship management Knowledge, Skills and Aptitudes You will: Have an astute understanding of the challenges facing and priorities of local authorities Be able to sell concepts and be an effective salesperson Be a natural communicator, both verbally and written Display the ability to build strong relationships quickly Be ambitious and self-motivated with a focus on solutions rather than obstacles Have personal authority and credibility at a senior level Be a collaborative team member but also be able to work independently to targets Be financially and IT literate Be an enthusiastic supporter with a genuine passion for the goals of OnSide The strength of the OnSide Network of Youth Zones is the diversity of its people; we place huge value on different people doing things in different ways and we welcome applications from what might be considered non-traditional backgrounds. The holiday entitlement is 25 days plus bank holidays, with incremental leave. All new employees are auto-enrolled in the OnSide workplace pension scheme, with up to 5% contribution from the employer if matched by the employee contribution.

General Information The job is based at the OnSide office, either in London (Angel) or Bolton (dependent on candidate location) and will involve a reasonable amount of travel and some work outside normal working hours.
