1 Mr. Sam Bianco Director CONGRATULATIONS! I am very excited to work with you all! You have been selected to be a member of the Somerset Berkley Regional High School. This contract contains a good deal of information for your planning. Please read through it carefully. Retreat On August 13-17, 2018 from 9:00am 3:00pm we will be having a show choir retreat. This retreat serves two purposes: (1) Getting the new groups working together. (2) To begin to learn the shows. The end of the week (Friday for Amplified/Friday night and Saturday for Electrify) will be choreography. Our choreographers will be traveling to us to teach us the beginning of our shows on these days. This week is very important and is required. FINANCES As a member of show choir, you will be required to a flat fee of $400 for the entire show choir season. This fee helps pay for the busses, registration fees, costumes, and everything else to do with the group. These fees will be paid on a schedule as follows. A Non-Refundable deposit of $200 is required by Thursday June 21 st $100 The First Rehearsal in September $100 The First Rehearsal in October Checks should be made out to Somerset Berkley Regional High School and given directly to your director. If your deposit is not in by the deadline you could put your position in the show choir in jeopardy. If there are special circumstances that I should be aware of, please speak to me privately as soon as possible. I will work with you in order to figure out a payment plan and schedule that meets your individual needs. If under any circumstances you

2 will no longer be participating in show choir I would appreciate the opportunity to hold a meeting to discuss any personal or outside reasons for withdrawal. All outstanding bills for costumes ordered or trips taken will need to be reconciled. FUNDRAISING We have many expenses that must be paid for, including staff members, music, set pieces, entry fees, and buses. In order to be able to pay for all of these things, the music department and the Somerset Friends of Music work tirelessly to fundraise for the group as a whole. As a member of this group, you are required to participate in these fundraisers. As we receive more information about all of these fundraisers, you will be notified and asked to sign up. Rehearsals Rehearsals for Electrify will be held on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 2:05-5:00. Rehearsals for Amplified will be held Monday afternoons from 2:05-5:30. Rehearsals for Simplified will be held after Electrify on Tuesday and Thursday 5:00-6:30 Rehearsals are extremely important and mandatory. Students must wear appropriate clothing, footwear, and take notice of personal hygiene at each rehearsal (Such as t- shirts, sweatpants, yoga pants, sneakers, or character shoes, deodorant.) NO BOOTS / SPANX / JEANS / SKIRTS or DRESSES (unless also wearing spanks) Character shoes/men s Dress shoes will be required at all rehearsals once competition season begins Shoes

3 All members are required to buy the approved footwear for this season and those specific shoes will be announced in the fall once costumes are finalized. Attendance Attendance will be taken at every rehearsal from 2:05-2:15. You need to check in with your president in that 10-minute window or you are marked late for rehearsal. Five late marks equals your one unexcused absence. If you are absent from a performance without 2 weeks prior approval in writing from Mr. Bianco then you may be removed from the group or lose your spot to another performer. Each member is allowed ONE unexcused absence from rehearsal. That absence can not be immediately prior to any performance. Choreography sessions are mandatory, NO EXCEPTIONS. Any unexcused absence the week of a show may disqualify you from that performance What is an excused absence? If you were not present in school that day. A school athletic event negotiated 2 weeks in advance (such as a game) A family emergency If you are in school and suddenly become ill and cannot come to practice you must contact Mr. Bianco via and you must follow this up the next day/rehearsal with a note from a Parent or Guardian. If a note is not provided, it will be unexcused. If you have any prior commitments, we must know 2 weeks before any rehearsal.

4 Behavior Your behavior is not only a representation of yourself, but also of Somerset Berkley Regional High School. You are expected to act in an adult manner at all times. We expect you to maintain proper rehearsal discipline at rehearsals. This means no talking, arguing, and no disrespect for yourself or your fellow peers. Remember that talking is a distraction for everyone. We are here to have fun, but we are also here to work. You cannot do your best if you are distracted or are in the process of distracting others. If your behavior or attitude becomes a problem, you will be dismissed from the group or punished accordingly. Students shall not knowingly possess, use, transmit, or be under the influence of any drug of any kind, including alcohol. Violations of this code can result in suspension or expulsion from any and all school activities. SBRHS Student Handbook Risers We will be building show choir risers for each rehearsal and putting them away at the end of each rehearsal. It is vital that you participate in both the building and the putting away of these risers. Each person will be assigned a specific job and the captains will be writing down who is participating and who is not. There will be consequences for not participating including but not limited to cardio, loss of spot, or dismissal from the group. I agree to adhere to all of these rules and expectations and understand that not adhering to these rules may result in probation or expulsion from the group. I also understand that if I choose to withdraw from the group I am responsible to pay the group for any money spent on me from this point until such time as I have notified the group of said withdrawal.
