1 QUINTON TOWNSHIP SCHOOL Quinton, New Jersey SCHOOL UNIFORM CODE ALL NEW CHANGES ARE IN BOLD The mandatory school uniform for all students in grades pre-kindergarten through eighth, commencing with the first day of classes of the school year, will be as follows: MALE STUDENTS STUDENT CHOICE OF SOLID BLACK, KHAKI, OR NAVY BOTTOMS All bottoms will be required to be made of cotton twill material. All bottoms will be required to have belt loops. All male students will be required to wear bottoms of the appropriate size. All male students will be required to wear a fastened belt, of any color as long as it is solid in color, of the appropriate size with their bottoms. All male students in pre-kindergarten through second grade are NOT required to wear a belt. All male students will have the option of wearing shorts year-round. All shorts will be required to have a minimum five-inch inseam (finger-tip length). All male students will be required to wear their bottoms properly at the waist. All male students in pre-kindergarten and kindergarten will have the option of wearing sweatpants daily. All bottoms will be required to be free of designs, insignias, cargo pockets, two or more zippers, slits, holes, tears, and cuts. All company logos on bottoms shall not exceed one inch by one inch.

2 STUDENT CHOICE OF SOLID NAVY, WHITE, YELLOW OR BLACK (NEW THIS YEAR) TOPS All male students will be required to wear either a short or long sleeve dress shirt or polo shirt of the appropriate size (No oversized shirts). All male students will have the option of wearing a long sleeve mock turtleneck or turtleneck of the appropriate size (No oversized shirts). With the exception of turtlenecks, gym t-shirts (see Gym Clothes), and Quinton Wear (see Quinton Wear), all shirts must have a collar. All male students will be required to tuck their tops into their bottoms. All tops must be long enough to be tucked into bottoms. All male students will have the option of wearing a sweatshirt, sweater, cardigan, or sweater vest of the appropriate size over their dress shirt, polo shirt, or turtleneck (optional). If the sweatshirt, sweater, cardigan, or sweater vest is worn over a dress shirt or polo shirt, the collar will be required to be visible. All male students are not permitted to wear two regular sized shirts at the same time. All male students in pre-kindergarten and kindergarten will have the option of wearing t-shirts daily. All tops will be required to be free of logos, insignias, zippers, hoods, designs, slits, holes, tears, and cuts. FOOT APPAREL All male students will be required to wear dress shoes, sneakers, or sandals (excluding flip-flops). Sneakers can be any color. Dress shoes and sandals can be any color. Students will also not be permitted to wear backless foot apparel. Socks must be in solid specified school colors.

3 FEMALE STUDENTS STUDENT CHOICE OF SOLID BLACK, KHAKI, OR NAVY BOTTOMS All bottoms will be required to be made of cotton twill material. Exception: Skorts may be made of cotton/polyester. All bottoms will be required to have belt loops except for skorts and jumpers. All female students will be required to wear either jumpers, pants, skorts, or capris of the appropriate size. All jumpers will be required to be a maximum of two inches above the knee. All skorts will be required to have a minimum five-inch inseam. Skirts are NOT allowed. All skorts must be purchased as a one-piece garment. All female students will be required to wear a fastened belt, of any color as long as it is solid in color, of the appropriate size with their bottoms. All female students in pre-kindergarten through second grade are NOT required to wear a belt. All female students will have the option of wearing shorts year-round. 5 GYM CLOTHES - MALE & FEMALE STUDENTS STUDENT CHOICE OF SOLID NAVY, SOLID BLACK OR SOLID LIGHT GRAY BOTTOMS & SOLID NAVY, WHITE, YELLOW OR BLACK TOPS * PLEASE NOTE: LIGHT GRAY BOTTOMS ARE FOR SWEATPANTS ONLY, NOT SHORTS. All students have the option of wearing a t-shirt, sweatshirt, and/or sweatpants of the appropriate size on their scheduled gym day. All gym wear must be made of cotton material no polyester or lycra spandex permitted. All sweatshirts will be required to be worn over a dress shirt, polo shirt, turtleneck (optional), or t-shirt (optional). If the sweatshirt is worn over a dress shirt or polo shirt, the collar will be required to be visible. All students will be required to wear their bottoms properly at the waist. Students will not be required to tuck their tops into their bottoms, as long as they are wearing gym clothing. Gym clothing is only to be worn on gym days. With the exception of turtlenecks, gym t-shirts, and Quinton Wear (see Quinton Wear), all shirts must have a collar. All gym clothes will be required to be free of logos, insignias, designs, cargo pockets, two or more zippers, hoods, slits, holes, tears, and cuts. QUINTON WEAR/OTHER All students have the option of wearing Quinton Wear on their scheduled gym day. Students will NOT be permitted to wear Quinton Township Youth League, or other Quinton shirts, such as: Math Showcase, Culture Club, Camp Mason, etc. Students will NOT be permitted to wear plain gray shirts, sweatshirts, or shorts. Students will NOT be permitted to wear Silly Bands or wristbands with any writing on it.

6 ADMINISTRATIVE CLAUSE The administration reserves the right to permit variations to the mandatory school uniform for specifically organized learning activities. The administration reserves the right to temporarily suspend the mandatory school uniform for special theme days and/or special activities. The administration reserves the right to amend the mandatory school uniform code. The administration reserves the right to restrict any clothing. SANCTIONS The Quinton Township School makes known the sanctions that will be rendered upon those students who refuse to conform to this mandatory school uniform code. The sanctions are as follows: First Offense: 1. The student will be called to the Principal s office. 2. The student will be given a warning. Students will be allowed two warnings per marking period. All subsequent violations in the marking period will result in one after-school detention. 3. Merits will be subtracted for school uniform violations. Note: Students who blatantly violate the school uniform policy will be immediately placed in internal suspension (Ex. Wearing blue jeans, wearing wrong colors, etc.). The parent will be contacted and will be responsible for bringing in a change of clothes. If the parent is unable to bring in a change of clothes, the students will be required to serve the entire day in internal suspension. If the student is in grades 3 8, four merits will be subtracted from the student s total.

7 STUDENTS WHO PARTICIPATE IN CONCERTS Please include a white polo shirt and navy pants in your purchase if your child is in grades 3 8 and will be participating in the concerts or graduation. This will prevent a need for future purchases as all children participating in concerts are required to wear a white polo shirt and navy pants.
