2 VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES & PSO COMMITTEE NEWS Mother/Son Event Volunteers Needed Stacy McDade is looking for volunteers to help with planning and executing the Mother/Son Event scheduled for Friday, November 20 th. Please contact her at if you can help. More information about the event will be coming soon! Adopt- A- Highway Thank you to our volunteers! We had a successful cleanup on Sunday, October 18 th! Our hardworking cleanup crew included Alison Bowser, Luke Bowser, Cole Miller, Josh Klatt, Beth Klatt, Amanda Laborde and Angie Guglielmo. Our next cleanup will be in December; stay tuned for the confirmed date and time. If anyone is interested in overseeing the Adopt- A- Highway Committee, please bklatt@nextaff.com. The time commitment is minimal with only 4 cleanups a year and a little paperwork that has to be completed before and after each cleanup. Christmas Card Contest We would like to thank all the students who submitted such beautiful artwork for the StMM Christmas Card Contest this year! The judges will select one winning drawing from K- 3 rd grade and one winning drawing from 4 th - 8 th grade. The chosen artwork will be transferred onto Christmas cards that will be utilized by the StMM Community Relations Committee this holiday season. The winners will be announced on the StMM website as well as by Mr. Cadran on November 5 th after mass. Each winner will receive a $25 gift card from a store of their choice at Beaver Creek Crossing. 3 UPCOMING EVENTS Middle School Monster Mash Halloween Dance This Friday, 10/30, 7-10 pm, StMM Gym Awesome DJ, photo booth, and prizes for the best costumes! Admission is 2 cans of food per person. Costumes are a must, so get busy! No cell phones will be permitted leave them with the folks! Parents, we could use your help, as well. Please check out the sign up at Treats for Troops We will be collecting leftover Halloween candy at carpool in the mornings of 11/2 and 11/3 (Monday & Tuesday) for donation to the USO for troop care packages and other holiday activities sponsored by the USO. Please make sure the candy is not brought into the building. If the candy contains nuts, please place in a sealed bag. If you have any questions, contact Magi Wilson at magimw4@gmail.com. Used Uniform Fall Sale November 2-6 The Used Uniform Store will run a sale the week of November 2 nd - 6 th. The sale will be Buy 2, Get 1 Free on all items. Mix & match. Equal or lowest priced item free. Denise & Jennifer will be stationed at the store in the mornings and afternoons during this week to help with your purchases.
4 UPCOMING EVENTS Veterans Day Ceremony Wednesday, November 11 th, 2 pm Be a part of this very special day. A ceremony will be held in the gym for students, staff, parents and invited guests. Volunteers are needed to help with set up (before the ceremony) and clean up (after the ceremony). Sign up at Contact Magi Wilson, magimw4@gmail.com or (646) Cultural Arts Events November 12 th, 2 pm, in the Gym The Bacchanal Steel Band will perform for the 6 th, 7 th and 8 th grades. They are a Caribbean ensemble featuring instruments made from 55 gallon oil barrels. They will introduce the students to their unique combination of calypso, soca, reggae, pop and classical music. Parents are welcome to watch, too. November 17 th We are excited to have renowned jazz musician Gregg Gelb come back for a mini jazz workshop with the 7 th and 8 th grade jazz students. Save the Dates! Shopping Night at Moon & Lola Thursday, November 12 th, evening Join us at Moon & Lola in Downtown Apex for an exclusive shopping night with champagne & desserts. Game Watch at Brüeprint Thursday, November 19 th, 8pm Meet us at Brüeprint to catch the Titans/Jaguars game and grab a local pint. Chips & salsa and light snacks provided.
