1 Where everybody is somebody Term 3 Week 9 Friday 11 th September 2015 Message from the Principal Dear families, PREP MUSEUM EXCURSION EARLY FINISH NEXT FRIDAY 2:30pm after a 2:15 assembly Yesterday our Prep classes had a great day at the Melbourne Museum. We have included some great photos for you today! Ms Voigt and Ms Ball were very proud of our preps and their great behaviour yesterday. Thank you to the parent helpers also who went along to support the excursion. It was much appreciated. YEAR 2 SLEEPOVER & EXCURSION DAY Last night was a lot of fun for our year 2 students and staff! The year 2 sleepover is a bit of a warm up for camp the following year and we already can t wait for camp with this group! They were enthusiastic about everything, danced up a storm at our mini disco (there was even a conga line!) and have headed off to the city today for their excursion day. Here they are on the city circle tram. It looks like a Spotswood invasion! WALKATHON NEXT WEEK Our walkathon is set to take place on Thursday next week. We are hoping for some more delightful weather to support this day and everyone is looking forward to getting out in the sunshine. Children are encouraged to come dressed in their footy colours, (preferably black and white!) Pies will be available on the lunch order menu this day at $4:50 for Footy Day!
2 GRANDPARENTS MORNING IN PREP On Tuesday next week our prep students have invited their grandparents, or special friends, to come to class with them for the morning from 9:30 11:00. They will share time in the classroom together talking about families, and then have a delicious morning tea. HATS Over the last few weeks in the newsletter, we have been reminding everyone that students must now be wearing broad brim hats in the yard at recess, lunch time and sport. There are still quite a few children coming to school without hats. Baseball caps do not provide adequate protection for the neck and ears, they must be wearing broad brim hats. We are not able to offer spare hats from the office. Children without a hat, or wearing a baseball cap, will be asked to come to the courtyard and play in the shaded areas. We have plenty of hats in stock and they are only $6:00. Please make sure your child has a hat, named, with them at all times at school. MUSIC THEATRE BOOT CAMP Earlier in the week we sent home a flyer about a drama program for students during the school holidays. I was speaking to a family who have participated in this program previously and highly recommend it! SWIMMING PROGRAM Next week we will be sending home information and permission forms for our swimming program which will take place from the 4 th 13 th November. It will be an 8 day program this year and the cost will be $70. Notes will not be due back until next term, but please take note of the dates for your diary. Jackie Green Principal Books available for sale We have 8 copies of The 65-Storey Treehouse by Andy Griffiths for sale from the office for $12.00 each. Be quick as they will go fast!
