1 Twinkle Twos Goals 1. To teach the dancers very basic ballet steps starting everything first in. 2. To teach the dancers both the names and the meanings of each step. 3. To work with a very small vocabulary of movement with these young dancers by focusing on their attempt to control their bodies through simple locomotor skills. 4. To emphasize and work on the dancer s listening skills. 5. To emphasize the dancers working together in a harmonious way. 6. To allow a venue where the dancers can work on and express their creativity. 7. To allow a venue where the dancers and work on and express their imagination. 8. To always make sure the dancers are having lots of fun while dancing and learning new skills. 9. To learn and explore such skills as directions, shapes, tempos, seasons, colors, etc. 10. To instill that the class does not end without the dancers doing curtseys or bows as a sign of respect for both the teacher and their fellow classmates.

2 Week 1 Twinkle Twos 1. After you have taken attendance, begin with the song Say Hello to show the children that class is starting. Also this will help the dancers to interact with one another (5-10 minutes) Start sitting in a circle with their legs crossed say hello wave with the right hand say hello wave with the left hand I would like to get to know you arms port de bras over head and open I would like to get to know you point to yourself and to the other dancers let s be friends give yourself a hug let s be friends shake your head say hello wave with the right hand say hello wave with the left hand look at all the friendly faces right hand up to your forehead and look around look at all the friendly faces left hand up to your forehead and look around in the world arms port de bras over head and open oh we all, live together, in a world, that we share stand up, hold on to hands, and walk around the circle so shake hands, with your neighbor, let them know, that you re there shake hands with the dancers around you say hello wave your right hand-still standing up say hello wave your left hand let a smile come shining through you big smiles let it shine arms high fifth like the sun say hello get smaller and smaller down to the floor Jump up and say hello at the end 2. Stretches on the floor: (5 minutes) Butterfly adding butterfly arms Reaching arms towards the ceiling Nose to your toes Legs straight in front reaching arms towards the ceiling-grabbing money or candy falling from the sky Reach towards your toes: glue your legs to the floor Points and flexes Knee hugs-one knee and two knees *no second position stretches

Across the floor: (follow the leader) (5 minutes) Different kinds of walks 1. Regular walks 2. Big steps 3. Baby steps 4. Robot walks 5. Silly walks 6. Marches 7. Ballet Walks 5. Let s Pretend (5 minutes) *ballerinas *tap dancers *ice skaters *basketball players *tight rope walkers 5. Fun songs/games (15 minutes) *Choose any of the listed activities 6. Let s Pretend (5 minutes) *animals: bird, elephant, frog, bunny, penguin, kangaroo, cat, dog, snake, etc. 5. Fun songs/games (15 minutes) *Choose any of the listed activities to do for the month 6. Curtseys and bows: ALWAYS end the class with these.

Start with the new song Good Morning *the dance starts with the dancers sitting in a circle with their legs crossed 1st good morning right arm port de bras over head and open 2nd good morning left arm port de bras over head and open 3rd good morning both arms port de bras over head and open Repeat above the day right arm out to side with the palm up is beginning left arm out to side with the palm up there is so much to do cross your arms and shake your head yes Repeat the good mornings Stand up, hold on to hands and make a circle Go to the right, stop, and then go to the left Sit back down in the same spots with their legs crossed Repeat the dance from the beginning up to the circle At the end-kneel on their knees and take a bow 2. Stretches on the floor: (5 minutes) Butterfly adding butterfly arms Reaching arms towards the ceiling Nose to your toes Legs straight in front reaching arms towards the ceiling-grabbing money or candy falling from the sky Reach towards your toes: glue your legs to the floor Points and flexes Knee hugs-one knee and two knees *no second position stretches 3.
