1 Fourth Edition October 21, 2016 THE CLINTONVLILLE COURIER The 2016 Spoooky Back to School Edition The Mummy With No Name (Book review) By Daniella Rapuano If you like the holiday Halloween, this is a great book for you to read. Geronimo and his friends got stuck in an Egyptian Museum and they found a mummy. The mummy started chasing them nonstop! Everyone got freaked out by the mummy. To find out how they find a way out, you will need to read on and find out! Meet Billy Mecca!! By Clare Kelly Meet Billy Meccahe s a great guy! He attended college at Niagara University. He loves working with kids of all ages and letting them know to be kind and to play hard! Billy Mecca is the Senior Associate Athletic Director at Quinnipiac University in Hamden. He runs an All Sports Camp and has been doing it for fifteen years. He has a wife named Genie and she is a great gal too! Billy Mecca loves The Washington Red Skins. He loved them since he was six year old. His favorite color is light blue because it s the color of the sky. Spicy chicken wings are his favorite, and his favorite hobby outside of work is golf. Now you know all about Billy Mecca! 1
2 Fourth Edition October 21, 2016 Fun diy Halloween Crafts, Treats, and More! Halloween Crafts By Emily Piercey You will need toilet paper rolls, paint or colored construction paper, glue, hot or regular glue. Hot glue dries faster, but it is HOT! (Always ask your parent s permission first) Halloween Treats By Emma Sola For this DIY treat, you will need Fudge Stripes Cookies, Hershey Kisses, and orange food gel. First you have to face your cookies upside down. Next take a Hershey kiss and put some orange food gel on it. Then you just place the Hershey kiss on the cookie in the middle. It is as simple as that, now you have little edible witch hats! Also, a black sharpie, a silver sharpie, googlie toilet paper tube or paint the tube. Let dry. *Note for mummy, glue strips of toilet paper BAT 2. Cut out detail pieces from construction paper and glue onto the tube. Example of bat wings: 3.Finally glue googlie eye/draw a face on of my finished creatures: need orange, green, and brown construction paper, a stapler, and scissors. 1. That is how you make DIY creepy Oreo eye balls! and 1(1) 6 inch MAKING THE PUMPKIN The 6 inch goes in the middle, then 7 inch, 9 inch, and 11 inch on each side of the middle 6 inch strip. Make sure the top in flush (level) and staple. Do the same to the other end. Cut some leaves from green paper and stem from brown paper (Don t forget to curl leaves with pencil). Staple at top and hang with string. Now you have your pumpkin! 2
3 Spooky Sports Carly Lloyd By Hannah Bernardo Carli Lloyd is part of a family of five. She was born on July 16th 1982, in Delran Township, New Jersey. Her parents names are Pamela and Stephen, and her siblings names are Stephen and Ashley. She went to Rutgers University for college. Her height is 5 feet, 7 inches and her soccer number was 10. Plus, Carli is a twotime Olympic gold medalist. Also, in 2015, she won Fifa player of the year! When she was on the USA team, her position was midfield. Carli also scored 90 goals when she played for Team USA! Unfortunately she retired recently so she won t be playing for Team USA any more. Now you know all about Carl Lloyd! 2016 Olympians on Dancing With the Stars By Kaley Lillis Laurie Hernandez and Ryan Lochte hit the dance floor on this season of Dancing With the Stars. Ryan s partner is two-time winner Cheryl Burke and Laurie s partner is a one time champion, Val Chmerkovskiy. Speaking of winning, Laurie won two medals at the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics and Ryan won one but he has twelve in total from former Olympics. Laurie s gymnastics skills should help her with her dancing because she is so flexible. Her nickname is the human emoji. Ryan is trying to regain people s trust after the Brazil Olympics. Tune into watch these two great Olympians! Kevin Durant By Nick BeSorbo Kevin Durant is a famous basketball player who plays as a forward for the Golden State Warriors. He is 6 9 tall and was born on September 29, 1988 in Texas and is 28 years old as of right know. If you want to be Kevin for Halloween, you can go on amazon.com and order one for the spooky holiday. Speaking of spooky, his knick name is Durantula. Also, Kevin Durant first started playing in the NBA in One of his favorite quotes is, Hard work beats talent when talent falls to work hard (I think that means if you don t work hard, then you won t achieve the things you want to achieve). Finally, Durant makes $20.16 million a year. These are some facts that you should know about Kevin Durant. 3
4 FRIGHTING, FUN, FACTS! Creepy Libraries A book review - By Isabella Crouch Going to the library and reading books is awesome, but some libraries aren t so awesome. This book talks about eleven different libraries haunted by ghosts in the United States, such as The Gray Lady and many more. This book gave me the chills and some thrills!
