THANK YOU FOR A GREAT PRE-GALA SOCIAL The SPBS Development Committee would like to thank the school parents who attended the Pre-GALA Social on Saturday night! ~ A very special thank you to Anne Marie and Nick Marasco, for opening their home to the SPBS parents and this special event. ~The Social was a huge success, with approximately 125 SPBS parents attending! GALA Coordinator, Mrs. Paula Breeher, took a few moment to outline the exciting GALA plans for Saturday-January 28, 2017, and to thank Fr. Michael for attending this kick-off event. ~We had our Wine Pull on display and provided information about the very reduced block room rate available only to guests of the GALA, provided for us by the Hyatt Regency Westlake. See the school website for info. ~Our very generous parents took advantage of this opportunity to make donations and purchase SCRIP gift cards for their children s classes Silent Auction baskets. Our 55 th Anniversary GALA 2017 will definitely be... A Night to Remember. SPBS CHOIR NOTICE The SPBS Choir will begin rehearsing their song for the 2016 Christmas Concert this week. It is therefore imperative that all SPBS choir members attend these rehearsals leading up to the concert. We rehearse Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7:30-7:50 AM. If a choir member does not attend these important rehearsals, they will not know the Christmas song, and therefore cannot be allowed to sing with the choir at the concert. Mr. Jim Leslie A BIG THANK YOU FROM MRS. HOWARD S LIBRARY Our SPBS READS! Week was a big success! During this week, we celebrated the WONDER OF BOOKS AND READING! ~We want to thank all our generous students who eagerly participated in our BOOK EXCHANGE, and left the library happy with their new books. ~Another favorite and successful activity was the BOOKMARK CONTEST. All entries reflected the students love of a particular book or character that they have enjoyed. Our contestants used a media of their choice (crayons, magic markers, colored pencils, paints). All bookmark entries are now displayed in the upper building hallway across the library. Two e n t r i es p e r c l a s s w er e c h osen. 4 VETERANS DAY ASSEMBLY CHANGE We would like to invite all families and veterans to attend our Veterans Day Assembly on Thursday, November 10 at 8:00 a.m. on the basketball courts (this is a change of location). We will be honoring all those who have served our country in the Armed Forces. Since we are doing the assembly outside, we do not need the scouts in uniform this year. ~We donated over 450 items and over 200 letters to send to our troops. Thank you! PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS A Prayer for Our Troops Dear Lord, We thank you for the lives and service of our men and women in the Armed Forces. Strengthen them and give them guidance as they stand in harm s way to protect our nation and way of life. May they face each day of their service the same way Your Son, Jesus, did; With courage, dignity and faith. If it be Your will, when their work is through, bring them safely home. Lord, please also bless the families of our troops. Reward them generously for their sacrifices, which are known only to You. May we never forget those who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom and safety; Those who have died in the service of our country. May they rest in peace forever with You in Your kingdom. Amen. POWDER PUFF TURKEY BOWL On Wednesday, November 16, we will have our annual Powder Puff Turkey Bowl. All 8 th Grade A football players will be dressed as cheerleaders and the Varsity cheer squad and female Student Council officers will be dressed as football players. Parents are invited to attend the game which will be held at 12:10 on the school field. Bring your cameras! Important Note: All football players need to bring their football jerseys. All Turkey Bowl participants need to wear their P.E. uniforms. SPORTS SPIRIT DAY Thursday, November 17, is Sports Spirit Day. All students who pre-registered at the beginning of the year may wear their favorite team jersey, clothing, or accessories (sorry, no hats or equipment.) ~If your child/ren were not pre-registered they may bring in $2.00 to their classroom. FOOTBALL TOSS On Thursday, November 17, we will hold the annual Football Toss at lunch recess. For $1.00, students may enter the competition to see who can throw a football the farthest.
